   Look around at the company you keep their a mess! They want "Waldens Pond" even though it's been proven it will never work! It's not fair that the less motivated recieve the same rewards as those who have earned success. If you've learned anything about basic survival get off your ass and quit whining and get to work!

      If you have to ask this question why bother.  You have prejudged and categorized a group of people by identifying them as outside your realm of thinking and discarded their value based on it.
      
      You have totally played into the political design of the two parties by polarizing your and others views and therefore eliminating any compromise. 
      
      I try to think of myself as a centerist but many shoot that down because they have lost the ability or will to understand the others point or opinion.  By doing so you have become a tool of the system and invariably will be in the way instead of helping the situation.

   One of the saddest interviews I read was when David Mamet said he could no longer think of himself as a liberal because he could no longer believe that people were basically good. He had reached a point where he believed people were liers, cheats, malicious at heart and needed to treated as dangerous.

         There are still communites that instill believe in virtues like unselfisness,empathy with the less privileged, respect for others,loyalty to ideals but it is an uphill struggle in an atmosphere of consumerism and greed.
         
         And of course, right wing philosophers promote a view of people as isolated creatures simply trying to get the most that they can from others(game theory etc). To me they are promoting the infant in people- the me me me! As we become more infantile and more isolated sadly we also become more unhappy and more like the creatures David Mamet fears..

            But aren't there two sorts of "right wing." There is another sort, which promotes loyalty to one's community, thrift, industry, decency and respect. Unfortunately, right-wingers who promote this sort of Consevatism have been steam-rollered by others... those who prefer to see corporations prosper over small business and entrepreneurship, for example...

    I think Mamet slipped from one tribal delusion to another. We aren't obliged to do the same. People are as good as circumstances allow them to be. As societies we need to create the opportunities for individuals to live they can be proud of. Conservative values have a place in that. Right wing hate really doesn't help. Silly sentimental liberals don't help either- though they make far better company.

    Might as well ask conservatives to ask themselves why while you're at it. Liberalism and Conservatism are both to blame for a lot of problems, and even if that weren't the case, it's simply a good thing for everyone to question their own views.

    My god, if one looks at our history, back in the 19th century there was so much corruption in DC. It was cleaned up and then TR had to do some house cleaning as well. Things seem to come in cycles. This too shall pass. Let's give it time and support our leaders that we have until it is election time. I am a registered Rep., but don't know how I will vote from now on. I have changed in the last four years I tell you. God bless America again is all I can say.

    I love America. I love my wife. We are opposites in many ways, spiritually as well as politically. I support her 100%. Same with my adult children and so many friends, some who are politicians and judges that are Democrats.
