Do you think a conceited behavior is a sign of insecurity?
My latest hub is about this question.
I think yes. I don't know if the two go together always, but at times I find people who are conceited are trying to hide forms of insecurity
I totally understand where you're coming from. Perhaps, they're afraid to express their true feelings and they're probably hiding some serious issues.
I think it is more like, not having enough faith in something more than it is the ego.
This has to do with the problem of inferiority complex which , for the sake of shielding, makes the sufferer hide behind the mask of superiority complex. The conceited behavior stems from the feeling, ' Don't you dare underestimate me!'
I don't necessarily think so. I think much of the time it's more a matter of way too much "security". Where insecurity comes in, though, is often in the eyes of the person observing what s/he thinks is "conceited behavior". Sometimes what he perceives may, in fact, be "conceited behavior". Sometimes, though, it is the most insecure who view others' healthy sureness of themselves as "conceited".
There are people who believe that they are ABOVE ALL. They contend that they are THE ULTIMATE. They feel that they are SO MUCH BETTER than us. There is a word for such people-CONCEITED! read more
