I joined a dating site after getting out of a hideous 8 year abusive relationship & wanted to restore my belief that not all men are jerks.  I didn't intend to find Mr. Right, I just wanted to read profiles & have a look around.  Being that I had become a single, working mom with little to NO time for the dating scene....
Well, I flipped page after page until my attention was caught by a seriously goofy looking picture of a guy... first thought "why would anyone choose that for their profile pic?!" .... so I looked at his profile & thought, hey, I like what he has to say. I could see myself being friends with this guy...
No sooner had I exited his profile, there was a message waiting for me to read - from him!  Well, I had to read it...
Long story short - his was the only profile I looked at, he was the first one to contact me, we took to chatting IM for about a week, then went to phone calls...
We've been together for 6 years & have an adorable son together (as well as children from previous relationships on both sides)...
It was totally perfect! Couldn't have planned it better if I would have written the book myself.

My previous relationship lasted 7 years and I married my wife whom also initially met online. "It's not where or how you meet that counts. It's whom you meet!"
It also helps to know what you are looking for and be able to spot someone who (truly) wants what you do and (naturally agrees) with you on how to obtain the important things in life and in relationships.
If you go to the grocery store to purchase an apple buit buy an onion instead....Whose fault is that? Do you curse the onion for not being an apple? No! You learn to become a better "shopper! :-)

I had been separated for a number of years and started divorce proceedings. I looked online and found a number of scams. But I kept looking. After about a year, I found one woman in the Philippines who was far younger than me, but seemed wise beyond her years. We ended up chatting online for hours each day. I even purchased a webcam so that we could see each other.

I found a number of times, I would wake up in the middle of the night, go to my computer and find that she had just gotten online, like we were connected despite the 7000 miles separating us physically. It seemed more than mere coincidence, because these were times she normally did not go to an internet cafe in her neighborhood.

Nearly 2 months after first contact, and after more than a hundred hours online learning about each other, I flew to the Philippines to see what she was like in real life. Three and a half months later, we got married.

At first, I had thought to bring her to America, but she started to seem sad when we talked about it. I asked what she would prefer -- which was to stay in the Philippines, and I told her "no problem." So, I quit my job, packed my books and computer and moved.

In 2 days, we celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary, more in love than ever.

I'm not rich. Some of her old classmates criticized her for not marrying into greater wealth, but she's not that kind. We're both very spiritual and hold spirituality and family as far more important than any earthly possessions.

The other respondents are braver than I am. I'm married and have been for over 20 years, but if I were single, no way would I take a chance online. Maybe I've been watching too much TV, but there are too many weirdos out there! I would need face time and a lot of it.

Yes, Ive been in a relationship with a guy I met online for a year and one month now. I was kind of nervous at first because it was my first date and it was a blind date. The outcome of it all was perfect, I had the best day I had in a long time the day I met him and honestly I feel really lucky to be with him. He's everything Ive always wanted in boyfriend and I honestly think he is my soulmate lol
