   If god creates perfection, why does the earth have so many problems?
   
   i'm talking about volcanoes, hurricanes earthquakes etc. believers can blame satan for human wrongs but if god created the earth , why so many mistakes in it design?

   Because Eve ate the apple. And like the idiots that men usually are...Adam listened to the "woman" and sinned as well. Those apples were eaten with sinful passion....that's why we have earthquakes, hurricanes and starvation today.
   This is basic stuff....didn't you learn it in school?

   Let me get this straight. We have the sunshine, the rain that makes things grow, an abundance of food and drink, beauty around the world in every living thing and we get to fall in love. We have infrequent hurricanes, infrequent volcanic eruptions and infrequent tsunamis and when we do, they affect less than .001 of the worlds population. By contrast the absence of these catastraphies affect 99.99 per cent of us all the time. If someone gave us a million dollars and a cold, we would probably resent them for giving us the cold and enjoy their million dollars. Whether God exist or doesn't isn't going to change what is. We screw up everything on this planet all by ourselves.

   To the theists here. If God put volcanoes on the Earth to punish the human race for Adam eating an apple then why did he put the largest volcano in the Solar System: Olympus Mons, on Mars which is - as I'm sure you all know - uninhabited?
   
   Perhaps he knew back then that we would want to go there someday.

   God creates perfection, but he doesn't promise a perfect life. Some natural disasters ARE the result of us not caring for the land he gave us. Others were designed to strengthen us. What doesn't kill us makes us stronger and can bring out the best (and worst) in human nature.

   Yes, God's creations are perfect.  Everything God created He saw as perfect.  However, man was given the form of reasoning and choice.  That being said, volcanoes, hurricanes and earthquakes, etc. were all part of God's creation.  Man now visualizes the affects of such incidents and places them within his ability to reason and chooses to call them just an act of God, when it occurs in an area of the world which has no immediate effect on the population.  However when it occurs in an area of the world where people suffer losses of life or property,then man chooses to call the event a catastrophe.  So there really is no problem unless it affects the human being in some way.

   Earth 'is' perfect in design. The interuption from her 'perfect' cycle comes from US! We pollute - the ground, the atmosphere & most importantly the waters & have no respect for the fact that planet Earth is as much alive as we are, with consciousness!
   Therefore we must respect that these natural 'disasters' are just a part of Earths processes for her (healthy) survival.
   This is just like our own body; do you think the bacteria in there are happy when we decide to do a detox for the good of our health? Same thing - same scale too, really!

    Frankly, I think the abundance of misery in the world is a clear indication that if there is a God he either doesn't care about us or doesn't have the power to intervene.

    the irony about most of these answers is that they try to make it sound like only humans matter. what about the extinction of the dinosaurs. what about the extinction of the whooly mamoth only 25,000 years ago. what about the extinction of all the creatures or the destruction of innocent children due to natural disasters. if there is a god and you can worship such a thing with all these factors considered, then you scare me more then any natural disaster ever would. far too many things were destroyed before modern man ever damaged the planet so i'm sure that the invention of god was nothing more then an attempt to justify all this. i love how adam and eve gets mentioned when eve wasn't even supposedly adams first wife. that's the kicker.

    Volcanoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, wildfires, floods, and even pestilence all renew the planet. They flush pollution, renew the soil, and reshape the terrain. What follows is a more vibrant ecosystem, following the 'disaster'. A survivor of Katrina may not agree, but the hurricane did point out the folly of building a coastal city below sea-level. What has been and will be rebuild, will be stronger (and higher, I hope).

    I believe in a higher power, but certainly not the God in the bible.  Adam and Eve is just a story to teach children right from wrong as are many of the other stories in the bible.  So no, we are not being punished due to a couple of fictional characters who listened to a talking snake in a garden. There is a balance of good and bad in this world. Maybe the bad things happen so that we can appreciate the good parts of life more.

    Problems you refer to ... are of mans creation. So don't blame God, for what, you do ... Because, it would have been Imperfect ... if there were a check on your Actions ...
    
    You have been Created Free humans, but you enslave yourself ... to serve, those, who are like you.
    
    Volcanoes, Tsunamis, Floods and Snowstorms ... if you look closely, have been wrought about by man's hand ... heard of Global Warming ... Chernobyl ... and the Peaceful Japanese Reactors ...
    
    God hath given you a perfectly balanced State of Nature ... in State of the beautiful, the Perfect, Earth ... to Exist in ...
    
    But if you choose to follow the path of destruction ... don't blame God, when the insane fools will drop the Nuclear bombs ... on who they think are "others" ...
    
    The bombs, they will be dropping on their own selves ... because, human kind is one... there are no others, in it.
