Do you keep your word when you make a promise?

A lot of times people just say things for the moment but never follow up on it.

I put a lot of thought before giving my word. However, once I do give it I make sure that I keep to it.

Hi Apostle Jack,  I always follow through with it when I give my word unless there is a drastic problem due to which I can not make it.  In which case I will go out of my way to notify the other party and make up for it.

When I say I will attend a meeting - I always make sure that I am there 10-15mins early. In business or in life nothing hurts people more than mismanaging time as that's the stuff life is made off and too often we squander it.

This may sound funny, but I don't ever make promises to adults. Next, I will make a promise to a child, then I definitely keep that promise true. Finally, I am very careful with making a promise, since children understand promises better than adults.

    - 'word'

I stay away from promising anything because i will most likely forget or become to busy to even remember. So what i do it write down the things i promise as i promise them that way i will always get them done. Promises are often hard to keep also without predicting the future. Many people promise to be in others lives forever, ex, ex and those are unkeepable.

If it is an actual 'promise' the yes I do, to the best of my ability. I won't commit to a promise if I'm at all unsure about keeping to it, I would ask for a compromise instead.

I am a woman and we are suppose to be fickle-minded beings but I dare not go that way. As much as possible I try to always keep my word for I want to preserve my credibility. It may take some time for me to fulfill the promise but I always make sure that I made it happen. Credibility is an intangible currency.

Not always and I hate myself because of that. Thank God for the guilty conscience so I try to make up for my negligence.

I do not make promises for the very reason................that I might have to break them.

My Dad was unable to keep some, made in my childhood.   I remember the disappointment!

I tell my hubby, children, and granddaughter,..............I will do my very best.........

I make NO promises.........though, I do make an effort to fullfill their desires.

Life happens and duty calls..........causing one to break promises........I REFUSE to set myself up for such a failure.

A promise to you, is a Vow to God...........I make few...........

Be a good wife, a fair parent, a dependable employee.......

trips to the park, an icecream, a swim, a play, a motorcylce ride.....etc, and etc..........are things I would enjoy, things, I will try to make time to do, things I know are important to you..................but there are NO "promises", not even of the tomorrow!

Always - as has been said, I simply don't make a promise I can't keep. I grew up around a few relatives who never kept their promises (to varying degrees), and witnessed the impact it had on those affected, and the relationships that suffered as a result.

That was never the person I wanted to be, so I'm very conscious of only making promises I can keep (this can be particularly hard when dealing with my students, to whom you often wish you could promise the world).

I was raised with the ethic that a man's word is the only thing he truly has in this world. If I am not 100% sure that I can come through I will not promise. If I say I will do something, you can be certain that it's going to get done.
