   What an odd question! Let's see, I was born on the 7th day of the 9th month...beginning to appear possibly odd? Of course, I was born in an even year, for what that's worth.
   I can eat whatever I like and not put on pounds. Does that qualify?
   Oh, yeah! I am left-handed by birth and left-leaning by inclination but currently living in a red state. How many points for that?
   Hmmmmm. What if I throw in cannot abide spicy hot foods, don't really care all that much about football anymore; do have a bucket list and owning a flashy fast sports car is not on it?
   I give up. You tell me. AM I odd?

   I think to be able to answer that, one has to define what normality is. After all, aren't we all different, down to our cells? So then, what constitutes the norm if each individual is just that, an individual?

   What a great question mommyneal6! A fun question too. If not odd then even? Hmmm, Lets play the change the vowel game.
   
   add - that is a function of mathematics meaning growing. I stopped physically doing that around the 8th grade. Matter of fact I am probably shrinking with age. So I do not think I can be that.
   
   edd - is the unemployment office here in California and I have a job for work so not that either.
   
   idd - insulin dependent diabetes? Nope. I am type 2 using meds and wellness principals.
   
   udd - is a political acronym far and wide. I'm an independent, so not that.
   
   ydd - known mostly as Youth Development Department and Yamaha components. Nope seems to answer that.
   
   What about dd? - Nothing there seemed to match with a peek on the web.
   
   That leaves odd - so, yup, I am odd meaning I am not a child. That rules out Oppositional Defiant Disorder. I am not married, therefore not paired as yet. Definitely eccentric most who know me would say. That seems to fit the definition by most dictionaries. The odd one out . . .

    I've never thought I was odd, however over the years I have been called: erratic; eccentric; a perfectionist; a hermit; not normal (whatever that is!); peculiar; different;  difficult; fussy and it has been mentioned that I don't live an average lifestyle (whatever that is!) other than that and the fact that I pretend to be my answering machine (too mean to buy one) I reckon I'm certainly not odd; not in the least, it's everyone else that's odd

    I think we all have our quirks and that's what makes us all unique. People tell me that I have funny mannerisms. I'm going to have to check next time I look at myself in the mirror. Good question.

    I once worked for a man who hired me to manage his company. After he got to know me a bit, he remarked "you're kind of an off-beat guy." I had to agree. We parted company after a year. I have been called worse, however.   
    
    oh, I was born the 4th day of the 9th month in an even year in Texas, that state and a strange upbringing may account for some oddness. Also, right handed and left leaning.

    There are certain things one comes to accept after years of ... "proof". Having been told on a regular basis that one is odd, one should probably accept it is truth.
    
    There are many phrases to this effect people have said to me since childhood. To this day, they are still said. Many common examples are:
    
    "You are wise beyond your years."
    
    "You're so strange..."
    
    "You have a fine point. But the way you comb your hair, it's hard to tell."
    
    "You're weird!"
    
    "Are you even from this planet?"
    
    And "What the hell is wrong with you?"
    
    Then there are the names. When people call one names, the nature of those names can be telling. People have called me many things. Examples include:
    
    "Freak."
    
    "Weirdo."
    
    "Psycho."
    
    And occasionally "Shirly"
    
    I don't do some of the things males "must" do; like enjoy watching men grope each other in public. And I do some of the things we "can't"; like enjoy cooking and sewing.
    
    Add all these together and you have an odd duck.

    Odd!! well that's odd, I think I am quite odd, cause unlike my friends I don't have much choices, and I do what ever comes to my mind, I'll do what ever fits without thinking why am I doing this, my dressing sense is quite haphazard I can wear a full shirt on just shorts or could just go walking out in my night suite. I am always looking like I am sleepy even though I sleep all day long. Don't know if my actions or me thinking my self is odd but whatever it is its kind of odd.

    There are not many students who are married, pregnant, work a job, have two cats and a turtle, a passion for leadership and psychology, hobbies that include calligraphy and puzzles, the lack of cooking skills that I possess for my age, only now considering financial aid with two semesters left, enjoys working out and studying combat guides for entertainment, reads psychology textbooks for fun, adores museum's, and has as advanced a library collection as mine I'm very special in many different categories. As my husband says, "the joy of being abnormally normal".

    I believe that we all do at least one odd thing that a normal person would think twice about doing. The one odd thing that I do is how I watch a movie at home. I have to make sure everything is perfect. This includes the picture quality, sound, and lighting in the room. I get easily disturbed when I hear any other noise that is not coming from my television

    I believe I am odd simply because I am not the same as anybody else. I am an original authentic one of a kind individual. Not a cloned drone of conformity just to be like, and accepted by the majority who are acceptable cloned drones of conformity... I like being me.. I do not like being who that majority accept and expect me to be... I live for me as an prideful individual... not for the acceptance of all the other sheep...

    Definitely very odd, very odd indeed. And yet when I look around I see mostly pretty odd folk too. So I wonder if odd is, in fact, normal and this puts my own oddness into question. Am I what I think I am? My head starts to spin as I contemplate the truth of my oddness. My fingers twitch. I start to tap my pen loudly on the library table. I get up and pace around muttering oddness out loud. Soon I am having a heated debate with myself about the meaning of odd until the librarian taps me on the shoulder and says "Excuse me sir, but could you continue your debate outside?"

    Yes, I think I'm awkward, odd and not understood. I'm kind of a geek and I have more boyish interest than girlish, that's the first thing  - I don't fit in girl's company. Of course I like to be dressed nice and I wear make up, but I love hoodies, jeans and sneakers, not skirts and high heels. I barely can handle typical girl talk, I prefer debates about video games, smartphones, books and sci-fi movies. Second of all - I don't care about others, I have few friends (they're weird and odd too ) and that's it, I don't give a cat's ass about others and society standards. I'm proud to be me, to be odd, others are sheeps and I (or better said we - all of us who are odd) am unique. As sheep I mean people who only wear clothes which are cool now and brands that are popular, listen only just popular music and so on...you probably know where I'm headed. Well, I actually feel sorry for the sheeps, they do what current trends are demanding and not what they like and do what would they like to do. So yes, I'm odd and I'm happy to be odd

My curiosity challenges their lifestyle and when I actually take action, they start questioning everything.     I think being odd, most of the time, is in our own minds. Even things we believe to be very odd are in fact very common. I'm not sure why. Maybe we do that to draw attention to ourselves. Being terminally unique can be an ego trip or verifying our individuality. Or the opposite. Maybe it's to keep people at a distance, thinking oddness creates fear or caution.
         Oddness can only exist if everyone else is normal. Whatever that is. Or the same. I thought I was odd for being an alcoholic and that contributed to my denial or asking for help. Once I learned that millions of people have the same problem, I felt much more comfortable talking about it which has led to me being sober for a few years now.
         Feeling odd can be a blessing or a curse. But only if you let it go on and on to an extreme that causes you to alienate yourself from the rest of us.

    I believe we are all "odd" and unique in some ways. Others may appear more odd than others because they are not afraid to be one. Some who are extremely passionate about their talents or causes may also appear odd in some ways. In my own personal experience, sometimes I do feel odd because I don't feel like I fit in any group. I have few friends, but I value my personal space and have hobbies that my friends are not into or even family for that matter. This does not bother me, though. I believe that our differences make each one of us special and unique in our own ways and we should be proud of who we are without being boastful about it. Actually, I like being called "odd" or "weird" because that makes me different. Does this sound odd to you? Hope this helps. Thank you for bringing this up. Great discussion:-)

    Ok, let me see if I can figure this out from the comments.  If everyone is different then being different would be normal because everyone is different.  So if being different is normal to be odd you would have to be the same.  So being the same is not normal since everyone is different so being the same is odd. 
    
    Now I know I am different so does that make me normal because everyone is different?.
    
    Okay I am confused.  I am going to have to think about this and get back to you.  I will be the feller sitting on the bench thinking with smoke coming out his ears.  Phew this is going to be hard to figure out.

    I may be different and a bit complex...but not "odd."   In fact, I'm every bit as EVEN as can be......My full name adds up to an even number, birthdate, month and year--EVEN, height in inches and weight--EVEN numbers.....number of children-EVEN....grandchildren---EVEN.....children's birthdates, ALL on EVEN days, months and years.....house address-even numbers....license plate numbers-EVEN
    I'm even-tempered, even-minded and evenly-stable......EVENtually Happy!
    So...........NO, I'm not odd, at all.

    In interpret "odd" to be "surprisingly different." A person is odd, even identical twins or fraternal twins are different from each other. In fact, a person is different from moment to moment. The reason is that his replaceable cells are undergoing apoptosis or programmed death and are replaced periodically. For example, a blood cell lives within 140 days only then dies and replaced. Only three kinds of cells are not replaceable: brain, nerves, cardiovascular cells (including heart, arteries, veins and capillaries). A person feels a continuous self because his brains are not replaced. Otherwise memory would be lost with the dead brain cells that are apoptosed or thrown away..

    I asked this question bc it's pretty much someone's opinion that we are odd. My job is to remove dead bodies from scenes and hospitals. I'm into horror movies and am an atheist. My family thinks that I am very odd but in actuality I'm a good citizen. I work, I have 4 great kids, married, and have a home in a very good neighborhood. Thanks everyone for answering, these are all great answers!

    Man was created by some freak mutation, or so many believe. It is simpler to believe that God  created us, for we have something to fall upon. In that respect, we are all unique. Finding how we are, depends on our level of understanding of the things around us, the way thing really are and of the forces that shape the universe.     Oddly enough I do believe I am, because even though I integrate well in society and among most groups, I feel estranged from them when we get down to the nitty-gritty questions around "the meaning and experience of life".
    See, I don't want to talk about the weather, celebrity scandals, clothes, t.v., local gossip, how bad politicians are, aches and pains, smart-phones, pensions, injustices of the system, empty dreams of winning the lottery...or any other matter and manner of  "small-talk". And "most" of my acquaintances (and friends) change the subject when I start to bring 'Illusion/perception/reality" viewpoints into conversation.
    They react to me oddly, so relative to them I am odd. To myself and like-minded others I'm normal. Of course it's a question of perception and viewpoint. I act and think oddly compared to most, therefore I am odd, compared to most.
    And I wouldn't have it any other way.
