What would be wrong if President Obama were Muslim?

Some seem to think it is an insult to President Obama to call him Muslim.  Does it really matter whether his is or not?

No it doesn't matter at all. It only matters if you're throwing a tea party for a billionaire with an elaborate comb over

Why blame him? Officials "we" elect ultimately directs his actions! You think "any man" (President) can do as he pleases?  Look at how Government functions again!

A religious affiliation is absolutely irrelevant to a human being as long as one lives righteously; doesn't lie, cheat, steel, works honestly and loves 'his neighbor' as  himself.

What does "live righteously" mean? According to "rightly divided" Word (II Tim 2:15) or doing "what's suspected to be right" in society?  One can "live righteously" all he likes, but if not "according to Gal 1:6-9," he errs!

Righteously=morally upright;without guilt or sin(Dictionary).[..the process by which God puts men right with himself is faith-"the man who is right with God through faith will live..."  in your bible.(God knows my heart; why shall I care what u say)

No!  It doesn't matter because President Obama is but a "puppet" that can only do what "elected officials" allow him to do or is "politically correct!"

When he tried to display his "true religion," media found fault; therefore, he probably displays what his "puppet" mentality "allows" and serves God where "politically correct!"

Man plays role!  Does what "appeases" man!

However, "in private," he has "his minister" (Joshua DuBois, a 30 year old "Pentecostal" pastor) come and share the Word of God with him!  But for "man's holidays," he appears in public at "politically correct" churches!

He's no more a "puppet" than any other professional politician. Pentecostal is one of many Christian denominations like Baptist, Lutheran, and Protestant. Obama belonged to (Trinity United Church of Christ) in Chicago for 20 years!

Dash: Does the President enact laws? Is he not persuaded by officials "we" elect? Be careful who u "vote" for is all I'm saying bcuz those "we" have elected (majority) win not the President!

dashingscorpioposted 8 years agoin reply to this

The Electoral College determines the president. It is possible for a candidate to win the "popular vote" and not get the needed  270 (electoral votes). Al Gore received more popular votes than George W. Bush did in 2000. Win the right states.

Dash: Not election of President (puppet) I'm speaking of but those in the House (majority wins) & Senate (majority wins)!  Pres can veto but if 2/3 of Congress says yes, becomes law! Watch who u vote for (House, Senate, Congress)!

No there is nothing wrong with being a president who is a Muslim.
The insult implied when some say Obama is a Muslim is there way of saying: "He's not an American." They refuse to believe his mother who is from Kansas gave birth to him in Hawaii where his grand parents lived. "You have to be born in the U.S. to be president".
Essentially they believe the Obama presidency is not legitimate.
Nevertheless Ted Cruz who was actually born in Canada gets a pass!
After the events of 9/11 Muslims are viewed as complete outsiders by some segments of the population. One's faith should not matter in a country that espouses separation of church and state.
Having said that there were many opposed to John F. Kennedy because he was Catholic. Some would be uncomfortable with a president of the Jewish, Mormon, or Jehovah Witness faith.
Even more difficult a lot of folks to accept would be an atheist!
Muhammad Ali is probably one of the most beloved sports figures in the world and he is a Muslim

Yes, Muhammad Ali is seen by society as "..one of the most beloved sports figures in the world.." God doesn't like "pride!"  He continues to show "I AM!"

Well, it's change. America is a great country, but it's citizens are typically not one for changing traditions. Nothing may be wrong with a Muslim president, but we haven't had one before.

There doesn't have to reason behind it for it to make sense to people. Why do we celebrate Labor Day? My guess is 90% of Americans have no idea where that holiday came from! But, it's tradition.

Precisely!  "Tradition" kills!  OBTW, you're right! I'm one of those 90% but when working for the Govt, I was just glad to be off! Where did it come from? They could've said it was "green tree day" & I wouldn't have cared, just happy to be off!

nothing its just that it is not one of the main religions so people are going to make a big deal out of it. If he were Jewish everyone would make a big deal out of it. If he were christian no one would care because it is one of the main religions.

Express: that is what i am saying but because of where he was born and that Muslims apparently 'hate Americans" and some one said that he was Muslim when he was first elected they want to make a big deal out of it all i am saying is it shouldn't matt

I agree, it should not matter, his religion does not matter to me. However, to many it is very important. So much so that they lie about his religion to insult him and fan the flames of fear of Muslims.

Sorry I didn't speak clearly the first time. A lot of people in the US don't even know the vast numbers of Muslims in the world, the majority of whom are respectable people in every way.

What is wrong with this statement, in this mental exercise you're doing, that he successfully hided his real religion during the election campaign, otherwise he would have never been chosen. That would be cheating.

Why would you call him a Muslim? For what reason? I think it's a weird question.

I don't believe it is wrong at all. It is within every American's constitutional right to have religious freedom. I think it would be more suitable if politicians were to swear on the constitution rather than the bible.

Religion should have no part in politics.

You go girl!  "...swear on the constitution rather than the bible."

It appears that's what President Obama did & I'm sure others do/have done as well in order to appease man rather than God (Acts 5:29)!

Because he has said many times that he is Christian and others want to malign him by putting out lies or conflicting information, it matters. If people don't like him, there are many reasons excluding his Christian religion to not like him. People say he is Muslim in part because there is a lot of discrimination and fear of Muslim (totally wrong) and they want to say anything they can to malign him.
