   What does it mean "to be good?" Is there a definition of good that is the same despite difference?
   
   As everyone comes from different backgrounds, people grow up, it seems, becoming exposed to different ideas of what is good. What do you think it takes to be a good person? Are there any commonalities of being good that cross the varying ways we distinguish ourselves and the lives we live?

   If you go to any dictionary for a definition you will find over 100 examples of "good"

   My answer comes from the things my parents taught me growing up -
   #1 "Do unto others as you would have done unto you".
   #2 "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all"
   #3 "Respect your elders"

   Good is just good! It is can not be mix with notgood when it is good. Make sure you use the eyes of your heart not the physical eyes on near the forehead.

   It's along the lines of being decent.......decency best describes someone that is good.  9 times out of ten, their morals, out look on life, behaviors and mindset is consistent as well as compliments all the above areas mentioned.

   The concept of "good" is subjective and based on the definitions of that individual's culture and upbringing.
   
   There are some universally accepted practices that many people define as "good" such as those attitudes described in the bible.
   
   But generally, people will define "good" as what they saw or were taught by their as good as they were growing up.

   To be good is to be, palatable, virtuouse. To have moral, ethics, merit and self worth. To have all of these you must think  of yourself as good.

    We can't help having bad feelings but we are not bad unless we act upon them.And even then if we are humble enough to admit it and apologize,we are not really bad To be good means not harming yourself or others by your words or actions,seeing others as separate people as valuable as you.  You are not the centre of the universe.But no-one can be entirely good,so maybe truth and humility are what to aim for and admitting we are all shades of grey

    Being good is paying attention to your conscience.  It doesn't mean you have to be a masochist like Mother Theresa.  But you can pick up after yourself and not leave a mess for others.
    
    Ask yourself what would your mother do and do it.

    What an interesting and thought provoking question! Personally, I feel like the easiest definition would be a person who seeks to live their life in peace.
    
    You may not like the choices others make, as others may not like yours, but ultimately, if you are doing what feels "right" to you, and it's not bringing harm to anyone else, I don't think you could ask for much more then that.
    
    In the history of mankind, not a single "perfect" person has ever been born, nor will there ever be... as no two people would ever have the same definition of "perfect". So in lieu of that, for me, "live and let live" seems to be the best possible choice.

    Being good will definitely be dependent to the community's standard of goodness.  If you are raised in a serial killer town then killing will surely be good in your point of view.

    For me there is no "good". It depends on your own personal opinion. If you think it is good, then it is good. If you think is is bad, then it is bad. Though some people want to believe and/think that there is a set definition, and they are wrong. It is the same as beauty. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder right? So why can't "good and bad"? I believe they are opinions that people need to over look.
