Do the reviews for a hotel help you to make your decision when choosing a place to stay?
Sometimes it can be difficult to judge where to book a room when staying out of town. Do you find the reviews helpful or do you wonder if they are bogus ones written by staff and owners?
Absolutely!!!! Even if it's not an objective opinion that you get from others experiences it helps a lot to know if others enjoyed their stay at that place.
I always review through multiple online sites. You can usually tell the fake ones because they go over board and call a $70 hotel Fabulous or something no normal person would say about an average hotel. Usually after reading 30 or so reviews it's pretty easy to tell which ones are good reviews and make an informed decision.
If you take out the best and the worst reviews, the remaining ones are the correct ones .
Give importance to what good and bad stuff people are saying about the specific hotel, since good and bad depend on the person. Something can be bad for one person but very good for another so the details are the decision makers.
Yes, I definitely look at hotel reviews, but I don't let one or a few bad reviews of a hotel put me off. I know that there are cranks out there that will never be happy. I do however look to see how many reviews are written and if 80% of them are at least positive then I think the hotel isn't bad.
This a good point, I never considered that staff and owners would write the reviews, but obviously that's totally possible... Anyway, I think that reviews are very helpful, especially pointing out the bad stuff, so when I read reviews usually I'm not looking particularly for the good reviews, but for the bad... What happens is that no matter how good a hotel is there are always things that don't appeal to this or that person and those smalls details that I learn reading reviews are extremelly important. For instance, I go nuts with noise, most people don't care, but I need a bedroom where there is total silence, if I read a review that says the hotel was great, but the accoustic insulation could be better or that he could hear the person in the next room... well, there you have it...

Thanks for all the great responses! I use the reviews faithfully, with the understanding that some people can NEVER be made happy! I have found that it is a great way to gauge a place when booking blindly online. I have wondered about them being bogus, but seem to have found that is not the case usually! Again, thanks for responding!
Yes, but I am a concierge myself, so I know what to look for besides the online views, that is if the hotel is local. If it is not local, I look at the reviews, because most people are the same when it comes to staying at a hotel. We all want to stay comfortable and pay the best rate to do so!
I believe reviews tell the staff and owners where they stand. So they do not need to do that some times negative reviews/feedback help them to improve their service.
Well personally I must read reviews carefully and think about them before going to that hotel.

Some hotels don't have what your looking for. It's good to read reviews from other people experience staying there. Is the food good, is the entertainment a live band? What T.I use to say, Is you happy?

Do you personally know of any rich people who have found a poor person and helped them? I am not talking about people standing in front of grocery stores handing out $10.00 gift cards to anyone that walks by. I mean have you ever known of any rich person seeking out a poor to help them?
