My fiance and I are planning our honeymoon for July 2009.  Anyone been to a tropical location recently?  Some of the places I've been looking at are the Caribbean, Mexico, and Costa Rica.  I'd really like to know if anyone has been to an all-inclusive resort lately.  I've been on a couple of cruises (Baja California and Alaska) so we're also considering a cruise.  Any suggestions?

If I was going first class my opinion is that u will get a much better deal somewhere like Thailand e.g. http://blog.luxuryproperty.com/sarojin- … -thailand/ Caribbean seems very expensive and Mexico I wouldn't really see as a very "exclusive" destination" - Thailand has every level of resort possible - and they do service like no where else

Is it Mark's blog? Either way, I love Thailand, too. The only problem - it is like 24 hours flight from here. 14 hours to Tokyo and then 9 to Bangkok sad

Vanuatu and Samoa - just like Fji, only cheaper.

    And Langkawi in Malaysia.

If distance is an issue, there are some lovely resorts in Baja California.

Save your money! Go to Cleveland as the view from inside a motel room is the same no matter where you are! Seriously a cruise would be my choice if money is no object then try the Mederterainian, the Carribean always a good bet. Just went to an all inclusive last October they reek. Cruises are a much better deal. Congratulations and keep in mind that no matter where you go-there you are!

Interesting point of view: I guess  I assumed that most people have lived together for a while before they get married so although a romantic setting not over-run with kids is nice - really a honeymoon is just an excuse for a trip!

    Hi,

I would suggest Thailand as well. Currently the US dollar is still quite strong over there. Currently it is at 33.5 Thai Baht to 1 US Dollar. So you're really going to get a lot for your dollar. Plus if you're planning on staying in a nice resort and I mean really nice resort in Thailand the room rates are better than a similar class of resort in Hawaii.

July is the slow season too so you should be getting some good prices for rooms.
I would suggest Koh Samui or Phuket for a honeymoon in Thailand. Those are the most popular areas for honey mooners and there are plenty of things to see and do.

And I agree the flight is a real drag but once you land it's all worth it.
    Good Luck!

One of my friend went from India to Thailand. She said it was one of the most inexpensive trips ever (Besides awesome thai food, great shopping, fantastic beaches and friendly locals).

This could become a great article title.  My aunt went to Panama for her honeymoon and now she is building her house there.

I'm actually engaged to be married in May 2009, and my fiancee and I were looking at going to a Sandals resort in Antigua for our honeymoon.  As it turns out, unfortunately we won't have the money to afford it, but if we could we would totally be there.  It is a little pricey, but it looks absolutely gorgeous and it is an all-inclusive resort.  The only things not included in the price are a couple of tours around the area, but meals, drinks, activities, you name it, everything else is included.

My recommendation is the Cayman Islands, romantic , private and absolutely beautiful!! Check travel agents as they are trying to get people there. Or go directly to Cayman Islands and see what they have to offer.  God bless on your new soon to be marriage and I hope that you have amny wodnerful years. smile

Depends on your budget. But I personally think Sandals is terribly over priced. Check out the fiji islands, Guam or in south pacific islands where their are great deals. Even Andaman & Nicobar Islands in India(I have been their are nice and very inexpensive). Most of the caribean islands/cruises have great deals going on now.
