Careers in Hospitality

Candidates seeking admission to the hotel management courses in India need to pass their 12th standard examination with English as a subject. As in any profession, the higher your qualification the greater your career growth will be. For instance, if you hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Hotel Management, chances of your becoming a General Manager of a 5-star hotel is a distinct possibility.

The emoluments vary between the different establishments and graded hotels that employ them. The initial minimum monthly emoluments are approximately in the region of Rs. 7500-Rs 10000 depending upon factors such as the status of the employer, institute from where the student graduated, city of location, candidate’s suitability etc.

As they gather experience, the candidate can aspire to become Front Office Managers, Banquet Managers, Food & Beverages Managers and eventually General Managers of leading hotels. Candidates of outstanding caliber can also expect global postings as many hotel groups in India have branches worldwide.

Hotel management job opportunities exist aplenty in both in the private and public sector. One can look for various openings available in hundreds of star hotels spread throughout the country.

Apart from star hotels, graduates from Hotel Management Institutes can also look forward to job openings such as multi-skilled executives in fast food chains, catering executives for hospitals and corporate guest houses, faculty in hotel management institutions, or other food learning course providers, cabin crew or hospitality staff in airlines, national and international airlines, client executives at resorts and other tourist destinations
