Hubbers Who Have Been My Support System: Installment Nine
I’m a little late in my weekly spreading of love to Hubbers who have faithfully followed me over the past four months. By my count this is the ninth installment of this very satisfying series of Hubs. Why satisfying? Simply because without those who follow me I would be writing clever little sayings on public bathroom walls and hoping for my big break….which of course would never come unless a publishing agent happened to use the bathroom I had written in. So you see, my followers keep me sane and out of unsanitary places.
So how does one make it into this series? How do I choose who to mention? The Hubbers I have mentioned so far have continually followed my Hubs. They leave meaningful comments. They support me by linking my work on their work. In other words they understand what it means to support someone and since I believe in reciprocation I do the same for them. This is, after all, a writer’s community. It is not a competition to see who can accumulate the most awards nor is it a community where egos reign supreme. It is a supportive, generous group of like-minded writers who are trying to perfect their craft and I am proud to be a member.
Like most of you I am a busy person; I write freelance for a living while trying to generate quality Hubs AND have a life at the same time. I try to follow as many people as I can as time allows. It is surprisingly easy to weed out those who show no inclination to support me or others. After a time you begin to notice when people never bother to visit your site or when they never leave comments. Since I have limited time I use that as my determining factor. I wake up to over 100 notices of comments and new Hubs each and every day and another one hundred filter in during the day so I need some criteria to go by.
With that introduction out of the way here are the latest Hubbers who have been my support system.
MICHAEL IS HIS NAME AND BEING NICE IS HIS GAME
Except to Mike it is not a game; he is just one of the good people. His name on HubPages is Cloud Explorer and he is as nice a guy as you are likely to meet in any writing forum. In fact, many of his hubs are written supporting other Hubbers and I was humbled when he wrote one about me. See for yourself what a good guy looks like by reading http://cloudexplorer.hubpages.com/video/Tammyswallows-wrote-a-great-hub-about-her-choice-in-men-Nice-hub-Tammy. I chose that Hub because it happens to be about one of my favorite Hubbers and if Tammy isn’t my biggest supporter I don’t know who is.
Anyway, check out Mike; he has some great Hubs about technology and how to navigate your way around a computer, stuff that confuses me but seems much clearer after Michael explains it all.
I DREAM OF JEANNIE
Okay, that was corny but I’m tired and my mind is limping badly at this point. Yes, her name is Jeannie and on HubPages she is known as Jeannieinabottle and let me tell you, this is one funny person. Don’t believe me? Read this http://jeannieinabottle.hubpages.com/hub/Im-35-and-Single-Is-It-Time-to-Buy-a-Cat and try to tell me she isn’t hilarious.
She is also faithful, one of the qualities I value very highly in a human being. She and I are on several writers’ support sites and judging from the number of people who share her work I’d say quite a few people agree with me.
SHIMMERING DAWN
See, I am tired because there was nothing clever in that title. That’s her name on HubPages and she writes beautifully with words that reach into your heart and soul and leave you gasping. Try out http://shimmeringdawn.hubpages.com/hub/Born-of-a-whisper-Romantic-poem but be prepared to shed tears of joy.
I also love her profile. She is a dreamer, as I am, and she dances the dance of life and seriously folks, how can you not be attracted to such a person. Follow her now; follow her often. She is that good!
CALIFORNIA DREAMING
His name is Alocsin on HubPages but just between you and me his real name is Aurelio and this guy is smart….light years smarter than I am….and a nice guy to boot. I’m not sure how I managed to not mention him until my ninth installment but I am now and I encourage you to learn from him; he is very knowledgeable about the internet and earning money on HubPages and he does more research on one of his Hubs than I do on ten of mine.
Check out http://alocsin.hubpages.com/hub/How-My-Hub-Went-from-Zero-to-3-000-Page-Views-in-Just-Under-Eight-Hours but be prepared to take notes and then make sure you follow his suggestions.
UPBEAT, SUPPORTIVE AND FUNNY
Her name on HubPages is Stephanie Henkel; her name in real life is Stephanie Henkel. Makes it pretty easy to remember doesn’t it. No messing around with cryptic names like billybuc; this woman just tells it like it is and let’s her writing speak volumes about the type of person she is.
Do you want funny? I was literally laughing out loud when I read http://stephaniehenkel.hubpages.com/hub/Strange-Foods-and-Downright-Weird-Foods-that-People-Eat. I am embarrassed to say that she has been with me since early on when I first joined HubPages but I somehow managed to leave her off of this series until right now. To make up for it allow me to say what needs to be said: STEPHANIE IS ONE HELL OF A WRITER! There, was that clear enough?
FROM ALASKA TO NORTH DAKOTA AND ALL POINTS INBETWEEN
TTombs08 is someone I would love to sit down with and talk about life. She has lived an interesting life from what I have been able to decipher from her comments and her profile and I just think she would be a kick in the butt to hang with. I’m kind of partial to the vagabonds of the world; they make the most interesting people, don’t you agree?
Anyway, this lady came onboard my site about a month ago and now she is firmly implanted in the front row cheering me on and brightening my day with her wit and charm. I strongly suggest you pay her a visit and tell her billybuc sent you.
STICK A FORK IN ME CUZ’ I’M DONE FOR TODAY
Hey, I have Hubs to read and comments to leave; I can’t be spending all day writing this Hub. Besides, I have customers who have no sense of humor when I miss a deadline. What’s wrong with these people?
I hope you enjoyed Installment Nine as much as I did writing it. These are good people, quality people, supportive people and I hope by writing this they will get a little more recognition for their fine work.
