A couple weeks back, a friend of mine got a $500 ticket for a driving violation I had never even heard of. Granted, I’m not a very frequent driver, but I doubt that all of us know every driving rule out there.

Are there any driving rules or regulations that you’ve slipped up on over and over- or been surprised by? Share them as part of this week’s Weekly Topic Inspiration challenge! You may just spare some readers a couple of unnecessary tickets and visits to traffic school.

Don’t have a particular Hub in mind? Here are some search-friendly titles to consider using (they reflect common traffic rule-related searches people conduct):
    New Driving Laws
Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations for Dummies
    Drivers License Requirements
Important Driving Signs You Must Know
    10 Lesser Known Driving Rules
The X Most Commonly Broken Driving Laws
Driving Quiz: Test Your Knowledge of Driving Rules
    Weird California Driving Laws
Practice Driving Test - Be Prepared!
The Best Online Driving Test Sites
    Sample Driving Test Questions
How to Prep for the MVA Driving Test
The X Best Free Driving Test Resources

To create search-friendly titles of your own, follow the steps outlined in this Learning Center guide.

If you'd like to join in on this week's topic by writing a Hub, follow these steps:

    1)    Stop by this week's Weekly Topic Inspiration Question.
    2)    Click the green button "answer this question".
    3)    Click the gray button below the box (leave that empty) that says "make a Hub about it."
    4)    Give your Hub a very specific title, like Easy Summer Gardening Projects for Kids or Challenging Summer Activities for Teens
    5)    Create good quality original content that hasn't been covered before.
    6)    After you publish your Weekly Topic Inspiration Hub, come back to this forum thread and post a link to your Hub with a brief description of what you wrote about and why.

For more information on the Weekly Topic Inspiration program, check out the Learning Center guide.

Oh, and do you want your WTI Hub to have a shot at becoming a Hub of the Day? Make sure the images are legally used and properly attributed!

I was inspired again, here's my quiz smile

Sadly, I was unable to attach the pictures to the questions, but I've added them in the next capsule - hopefully it is good this way too!
Please write to me, if you find any mistake! Thank you!

Love it! And choosing the thumbnail option for images that correspond to questions is the next best option. This is a fabulous Hub!

The quiz is a fun idea. I was stumped with the first question!

I don't drive a lot these days, but when I do drive, I see a lot of people breaking driving rules. Perhaps, they are unaware of these rules. My hub is titled, "10 Lesser Known Driving Rules". http://marleneb.hubpages.com/t/32ab9b

Oooh, I'm so glad you mentioned the rule about entering intersections! They really pushed that one when I was first taking classes to get my license as a teen, and it always gets my goat when people break it. Great Hub!

MarleneBposted 12 years agoin reply to this

Thanks, Simone. I put in the one about entering into the intersection because I had a friend who kept doing that saying, "As long as you are already in the intersection when the light turns red, you are OK." Obviously, she doesn't know the rules.

Everyone does it, which is the frustrating thing!!! @_@

They always tell me "But I'll never get through if I don't pull into the intersection!!"

      I actually had a lot of fun writing a hub about this - http://giblingirl.hubpages.com/hub/Unus … Know?done.

This article will give you an idea of just how unusual, and sometimes ridiculous, the rules of the road are.

Wow, I'll have to watch my potty mouth in Maryland! This is such a fun Hub. I'm so glad you took the 'odd driving rules' approach- I was really hoping someone would do that!

I wonder who writes all those silly laws and why people pass them in the first place. This is a fun hub to read.

Oh, hurray! I was already planning a hub on this topic. I have an interview with the Senior Traffic Law Officer for my state on Friday and then I'll get crackin'. What fun!

I like the comparison between driving in India and driving in the U.S. I just can't imagine myself driving in India. Even walking along the roads look like a scary thing. Great hub.

I just posted my first ever Weekly Topic Inspiration:  http://cam8510.hubpages.com/hub/Obscure … -no-excuse

The title of my hub is "To Turn Left on Red or Not to Turn Left?  That is the Question."  I had heard for a long time that there was a regulation dealing with turning left on a red light, much like we turn right on a red light.  I had just never tried it.  I was with a friend a few years ago who pulled this off with confidence.  It was impressive.  I began doing it as well.  It really does help move traffic along.  I want traffic to move along.  That is why I wrote this hub.

I live in California and have only turned left at the red light one time. Your diagrams of how to use the rules legally are excellent visuals.

That VIDEO! Hilarious! Still, your hub points out some serious infractions people may not be aware of or simply ignor. Very nice hub.

We saw some great driving Hubs this week. Big thanks to everyone who participated!

Our new Weekly Topic Inspiration theme focuses on the challenge of paying for college- just in time for school!

Just as you shared your great driving tips last week, I hope you'll take some time this week to share the lessons you've learned about paying for college educations. smile
