I just started my new hub today. http://haleycaulfield.hubpages.com/

I'm very confused as to how the publications work and how I would be paid for this. I read the "Help" pages and Q&A pages, but none of it seemed to answer my questions.

Also I posted my first hub, but it didn't show up on my profile...? Am I doing this right? Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Haley Caulfiled

If you check your "my account" page it will show you the status of the hub you have written which will likely be "pending" as it will be reviewed before it is published. It normally takes between 4 to 24 hours before it will be published.
If there are any problems with the hub then you will be informed and given an opportunity to correct it.

To be paid you will need a Google Adsense account but you will have to have many hubs before you will be approved by google and this can take 6 months depending on where you are in the world.

At the top of the page, there is your user name in the upper right-hand corner; when you hover over that, it will bring a drop down menu; you click on "my account". You go to the "my account" page, which automatically will show the statistics for your hubs in a list; to the right of the Hub in the list there is a column which is titled "Featured"; down that column and in the row of the Hub it will have an icon showing the status of the hub; a swirly thing means it's pending and being reviewed; a big H means it's featured; there are other icons which will indicate the hub needs improvement; there's a key to the icons at the bottom of the page. You need an adsense account to get paid, but you can be paid through both adsense and Hubpages ad program and ebay, as well as through an Amazon account which you can apply for; you have to enter information for all that on your earning page in "my account". You also need a Paypal account and plug in the email address associated with it on the earnings page. Hubpages ad program and ebay pay together sent to paypal when you reach payout (at least $50), adsense you need an adsense account (payout at $100 by check) , amazon you need to apply for an Amazon Associates account (pay out at $10, I think, with different options for payment, including direct deposit). There's more information on that in the Learning Center which you can find a link to if you click the help button up in the upper right hand corner of this page (or any page here on HP).

By default, Hubs only featured Hubs are displayed on profiles.
      http://hubpages.com/faq/#HubsOnProfile

Until authors have 5 featured Hubs, Hubs that do not pass the QAP are unpublished.

You can find further details here.

It looks like you are from the US, so it will not take you 6 months to get an Assense account. You can get one faster if you start a Blogger blog and apply for one through there, That was my experience anyway.

Read this, maybe it will help.

    Hi Haley:
You would need to monetize your hubs by signing up for ad affiliates. A heads up that I have not ever made one single penny off of eBay and the rest really only trickles in slowly, until you have built up quite a number of well optimized hubs.

Try visiting hubpages.com/faq and scroll to Item 4: How can I make money on HubPages?

By serving ads onto Hubs, HubPages gives Hubbers the opportunity to earn from their published work. To earn from your Hubs, you must first sign up with one (or more) of the affiliate and earnings programs we have available.

For more information on signing up for HubPages affiliate and earnings programs, visit the following Learning Center guides:

Making Money on HubPages: Our Monetization Partners
What is the HubPages Earnings Program?
What is the Ad Program on HubPages?
How Do I Sign Up for Google AdSense on HubPages?
How Do I Create an Amazon Affiliate Account?
How Do I Sign Up for the eBay Program?

Being set up with HubPages affiliate and earnings programs does not mean that you will be guaranteed earnings. Your income from HubPages is contingent on your success as a Hubber- specifically your success in driving traffic to your Hubs.

You don't have eBay on your hubs?
