    Hi,

I have a balance that has not yet been paid out in my current Amazon Associates account.

If I switch to the new Amazon program, will this balance move over? Or will it get wiped?

    Thank you

+1 same question, especially since I haven't reached the impossible threshold. Is it $100? I believe I signed up to get gift cards.

Is it possible for you to reduce the threshold? Mine is only $10.

Check your settings - if you've opted for gift cards you can set it as low as $10.

I did when I initially became an affiliate, Marisa. Could not recall earlier but you've refreshed my memory. Just haven't reached $10 yet.

If it's only $10, then is it really worth worrying about?   With the higher earnings rate on the HP program, you're likely to make up for that loss.

According to the HP blog and the Amazon FAQ of the website, if you have a balance with the Associates account,  you'll be paid out through that and then the HubPages Earning Program will take over - essentially, you'll be paid out through the Associates program guidelines.

Thanks so much for this info. I guess I can just move it on over then.

No, you can't.  Your old balance stays where it is, you can't move it anywhere.  If you haven't hit the minimum threshold yet ($10 for US affiliates, $100 elsewhere) then you won't be able to get it.

If HubPages is the only place you use Amazon, and you don't want to lose the money you've already earned at Amazon, then your only choice is to delay signing up for the new program until you've reached payout.   But do check what your settings are on Amazon for the payout threshold.

Even i have some money in my amazon associates account, so should i wait to let it reach $100 and only then i should switch over to the next program? I have my amazon associates program also linked to my wizzley, then what will happen if i join the new one which is exclusive to HP? I am a bit confused please help me out.

Your Wizzley Amazon links will function as before. Until now we only had an account with Amazon, and we could use that account wherever we wanted, Hp, Wizzley, our own blogs, whatever.

Switching to the HP Amazon program will not have any effect on that account, except that it will no longer be used on HubPages. Everything else will continue as before, except that now any sales you make on HP will not contribute to your Amazon earnings, instead they will contribute to your HP earnings.

As to whether you should wait to switch now, that really depends, how far are you away form $100 on Amazon? How much of a contribution does Wizzley etc. make to your Amazon earnings. For example, if you have $90 on Amazon right now, and you don't really make any sales on Wizzley, I would wait. But if you have $10 on your Amazon account, then I would switch.

Also remember that you can switch back to using your Amazon ID on your hubs whenever you want.

Thanks a lot aalite for this information, though i am not close to $90 but still i think i should wait for a few months and then switch over to the new program. Its good to know that wizzley or blogs amazon earnings will remain the same.  You have explained it very thoroughly.

The balance is with Amazon, under that ID.  It will just stay there.  If you still use that account in places other than Hubpages, it will continue to grow.

And if not, whatever you have is history.  Isn't that terrific?

You can opt back into that account at any time. The balance is not history in that it will not go away.

Remember, it is your choice.  You don't have to switch if you don't want to, and you can always switch back.

The minimum threshold is only $10 if you're in the US.  You control what the threshold is - check your settings.   Although if your balance is only a few dollars, it doesn't sound like it's worth worrying about.

The balance you currently have on your own Amazon will remain as is. It is separate from the hub pages amazon program. If you have not reached the minimum on your own account yet you will have to use it on another site, if you choose to use the hubpages amazon here, to try and have new sales that will allow you to reach the minimum and get paid your earnings...

Basically you can swap now and leave it as a stored credit, or you can swap later after you reach payout, or you can not swap at all.  Those are the options.
