I looked at 5 more of her Hubs and they all had the comments box turned off. I also noticed that Suzanne Day, Phyllis Doyle, and even Kenneth Avery (among others) were following her. Go figure.

Do you think it is in error?  I wanted to e-mail her, but I have no e-mail address through HubPages to contact her.  Can a moderator assist?

You may already know this, but you can set a hub for no comments. Some writers don't want comments on their hubs.

I was following a hubber who had really interesting hubs but I could not comment. At first I thought she just forgot to have the comments on that one hub, but every hub she published no one could comment? I felt bad as I am sure hwr hubs would have received a lot of comments.

That's just it, Faith Reaper.  She used to take comments in the past.

There is no requirement that comments be on each Hub nor that they allow comments.
How comments are used is up to the author.

I know that someone can choose to opt out on comments but I never heard about Fan Mail and email.

But where can you control fan mail, or am I missing something?

It is the "Allow others to contact you?" setting.

I've got email turned off using that setting, but I still receive fan mail.

I've forwarded a message to our engineering team to get further info as I have tested that setting on multiple accounts and it currently appears to be behaving differently for each.

On one account, for example, I unchecked "Allow others to contact you?" and then sending fanmail was no longer displayed on that profile. Checking it then returned the option to that same profile.

I have since done further testing and other accounts are not behaving in the same way.
I will let you know if there is a setting of which I am not aware or if there is an issue we need to track down and address.

My understanding is that the message at the bottom of the page will not stop the option of fanmail on your profile, but simply won't email them to you, but again I am double checking to make sure.

                    Yes, I understand the same.

I'm actually quite happy with fan mail being allowed, even if I choose not to receive emails from fellow hubbers.

Just bring up her profile, click fan mail (on the right), on the left in blue you see "Send soandso an email". Click on that and there you are!

Authors have the ability to turn that feature off too.

I guess she doesn't want to hear from anyone.  I can't contact her via that medium.  I guess that there is nothing that I can do on the Hubpages front.

Have you tried leaving Fan Mail?  While authors can approve or deny messages, it can't be disabled, so she would see your note.

There is no place on there to place a fan mail any more.

      relache,
She can be followed but she cannot receive Fan Mail.

You can only leave Fan Mail for a person once in my experience.  Is there the possibility that the two of you left fan mail for this author at some point in the past?

Matthew, I can verify that when I used to have email contact disabled, I still got plenty of fan mail.
