Got something to brag about? Here is where to do it. It can be a biggie. It can be something that is only important to you (those are the best).
I will start.
1. My hubs get daily views. It doesn't matter if it is only 10 or a 100 or a 1000.. What it means is that I contribute to society every day. Personally, I think that is a very big deal.
2. I avoided a confrontation at the grocery store a couple days ago. It is amazing what maturity brings.
3. All bills paid.
I'm bragging about my husband today he was able to get out of the car today without two men helping him. A great day.
I figured out an emergency plan yesterday after my, Mom was missing for about 1/2 hour (she suffers from dementia and decided to take a walk). Mind you, we live in the wilderness with big forests all around. She had no idea where she was, but she did find her way back home.
Paid all my bills for the month and still have a little bit of money left over! Its pretty awesome!
1. Daily views are a real boost to morale to me too. I check daily to see if anyone is reading my posts.
2. Avoiding confrontation is the best way to make it through the day without regret. Congrats, Para.
3. Bills are still paid after hubby was laid off last April. The bragging part for me is that he had an important phone interview yesterday that went well and is supposed to have another one with the hiring manager, soon. Thoughts and prayers for his success are much appreciated.
Peg
Hi Peg,
I will definitely keep your husband in my thoughts and prayers today. It is not fun to be laid off.
Surprisingly I have a few things for a change.
Won a Hubbie or two - thanks to my mates, sold a Zazzle thing, one of my blogs is now doing better than one of my HP accounts, made my first stick man video on YouTube, had some nice comments without really fishing too much, avoided serious forum rows, making some dollars...
That's enough bragging from me.
Very well done!
I've been hearing about Zazzle for years. Ya just gave the final impetus for me putting it on my to-do list.
I see you've changed your avatar...I liked the other one better, although I also like to play chess....anyway......nice to see you in the forums.
Spot may very well return.
Meanwhile, I have started a new hub. For me, that is a very big deal.
New background, Mr. Ewbie, but that same smiling face!
After years of apathy, I actually went online and changed by car and home insurance providers, in the past week, and have saved myself over £700 per year!
(Mind you, am kicking myself for not doing it sooner!)
Been there. Done that. Next, dump your cable company. I did a year or so ago. I went Netflix. I mean seriously, $8 versus $80 a month. Do Chromecast to get it to your TV I believe, not sure, @Netflix, you owe me big time.
This guy just followed me. http://travelman1971.hubpages.com/ An old timer. No, I will not post the link of anyone else that follows me today.
I was out and about today and somehow managed to dodge all of the warm tropical showers we are having today. One problem with that brag however, is that I did so well, the rain did not hit my home and water my yard, flowers or veggies!
I am proud of myself because I started editing one of my old hubs that definitely needed work. I am not into editing my old hubs, it is depressing and I would rather delete it. It's hard to come up with new words when you feel you've said it all already. But this hub needed a refresh quite badly and I really didn't want to dump it.
I know the feeling. Sometimes I just paste the whole thing into Google Drive for spell checking. I have not been amused by what I found.
Refreshing old hubs is not always fun while your doing it but it feels great when you're done! You have an updated, refreshed Hub! To me that feels great. Good job!!
1. My husband is retiring October 1st. We saved big time the last couple of years, saving every penny we could. Since he will only be 62, that is a big one for us.
2. On the way to work today my husband had an accident and I didn't freak out. He's alright, but the vehicle is smashed up. Now I don't have a car. Years back I would have gotten wound up about this.
3. I hit 1.5 million views just recently. The first million was a lot easier than the last half, since I've been hit by Google so many times. So many of my hubs were copied and that may have hurt.
That is enough bragging for one day.
One of two hearing aids got back from repair shop today. My body is so balanced, I could walk a tightrope. Lol. It was worth the cashola I paid originally. Everyone with hearing problems needs a Starkey. They are the greatest. My swimming background messed up my hearing.
I made it through my first CSD physical therapy without fainting! Even the PT was impressed. Then the car ride home triggered it really bad but I made it inside to a bathroom BEFORE throwing up. Sounds pathetic but I am honestly proud to have made it through. Only 7 more weeks of PT to go!
I just updated another one of my squidoo lenses into a beautiful Hub!
Blood drawn for testing: check.
Driver's license renewed: check.
Two small recipe lenses merged into a nice, long hub: check.
That is worthy. AdSense is one tough town these days.
I just got my first paperback copy of my ebook. I used CreateSpace to convert it. Feels good to have a real copy to hold!
You know, I've done 11 books through CreateSpace, and that feeling never gets old. Congratulations!
If you don't have one, get yourself an Amazon author page. It's very handy for pointing people towards all your work, and makes your name clickable on Amazon. Apply at authorcentral.amazon.com.
1) Even though I was running late for work, I followed this car into my work parking lot (a big chain grocery store), and parked near her when she finallyyyyy parked; I then rushed to follow her in, in order to catch her and let her know her tail lights/brake lights/turn signals were hardly working (so dim I could hardly tell she was turning/braking)... She was relieved to know.
2) I rescued my boyfriend from work, his car wouldn't start, so I picked him up and we came home Hopefully my stepdad will be able to easily figure it out and fix it! We're car illiterate... unfortunately...
I became a first-time Grandma this year. My looooong awaited 5 month old Grandson (Apollo) slept at grammy's house last night. I survived the 2AM feeding, the 5AM feeding, the poo-poo diapers (this little guy will NOT lay still for a minute!), the turkey and rice baby food (without gagging myself!), and walking/bouncing him for a full hour in order for him to take a half-hour cat-nap. I waited 56 years for this moment - and wouldn't trade it for the world!
I am due to become a Grandmother, for the first time, in a couple of months...so I share your joy!
I strongly suggest the Merlin Sleepsuit. It really is a miracle for active sleepers.
I am thankful for my sister Paula who is a two time breast cancer survivor and the fact she cared for me through my broken leg saga. She drove me around 300 miles one way to the hospital for surgery, doctor appoints and to rehab so I could learn to walk again. My leg has a plate and two screws in it and I had the best surgeon in the world---I am thankful for him. My sister is an Angel---I am nine years older than Paula and she was always my baby growing up. I know the great feeling of sisterly love. I love her beyond words. I am thankful for my hub friends, FB friends and Google+ friends and followers. And, for the blessings of my God.
I love what people are bragging about on this thread, especially posts like yours about truly meaningful events. The Internet is just the Internet. Nothing more. Not really important in the Big Picture.
(The only thing I can brag about right now is filing 175 DMCA requests in the past 48 hours. What a waste of life's precious hours!)
How awful! Isn't that tiresome and like you said, such a waste of time.
This verse came to mind, so this will be my grateful boast today.
"If they want to brag, they should brag that they understand and know me. They should brag that I, the LORD, act out of love, righteousness, and justice on the earth. This kind of bragging pleases me, declares the LORD."
Jeremiah 9:24
GOD'S WORD Translation
A translation of Biblical verses is an interpretation. The word your translation interprets as "brag" is not an accurate interpretation. The Hebrew word is:
הלל
and it means 'glory' or 'praiseful glory.' It was used in musical liturgy in the Temple of Jerusalem and is used today in songs of praiseful glory. It has nothing to do with personally bragging about something.
To have a better understanding of this Hebrew word, see:
http://biblehub.com/interlinear/jeremiah/9.htm
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hallel
http://www.jewishencyclopedia.com/articles/7109-hallel
Yes, you're absolutely right... Ive read many translations and "to glory in" is very common. They are not different meanings. I'm not sure what you thought my purpose was in posting that verse, but there's little to quarrel with. It was just a personal thought I had in response to the OP. There was no contention intended at all.
I know. But, quoting something attributed to the God of Israel must be done with complete accuracy. If not, it can be dangerous to the one quoting.
It was a direct quote from the Bible. If you don't like the translation, you'll have to take it up with several different biblical translations. I have no problem understanding that they have the same meaning. You may be confused about the possibilities of the word "brag". In any event, as I said, I find no reason to find contention here, and I wish you a good day.
The word 'brag' is entirely different in Hebrew and I'm not confused about that. Neither is Google:
https://translate.google.com/#en/iw/Brag
If you want to find out more about it, you could post something in the religious forum and probably get further insight.
Hence the problem with the Bible, people can interpret it many different ways. As we have seen in Today's world, many times the words are twisted to justify bad behavior.
While one might choose to ignore passages about it being a sin to cut your hair, shave, eat shellfish, drink alcohol, work on Sundays, get remarried after a divorce, lose your virginity before marriage, or wear gold- they will stand in the streets protesting about someone's sexual preference. It is a messed up world.
There is no such passage in the Bible. But, there are dozens of references about the prohibitions for working on the Sabbath, from Friday at sundown until Saturday at sundown.
Better read closer. All the references exist.
For me, I would like to brag about how I recently reached 100 posts on my one blog. I'm really happy that I've stuck with it!
I was going to brag that I resisted the temptation to gripe about people who manage to turn such a kind, sweet little thread into a religious debate... but...
C'mon, y'all. Take it outside.
smart & fun.....Oh yeah. The way I see it, you can still brag. You didn't officially take it to the level of unacceptable. I would like to brag about the vow I made to myself to GIVE up on the Forums altogether, the very next time any post is hijacked by "Religious-related" comments, or just Religion in general.....most especially when they get entirely out of control and completely off topic!
This thread hasn't actually qualified quite yet. It seems to have stopped for the time being.
I owe a few of my hubber friends 5 bucks. They ALL told me to simply NOT visit the forums EVER, due to the constant insistence and tenacity (plus "annoyance") of those who will slide religion into a thread anyway, anytime & for whatever unrelated reason possible. I can obviously brag about having smart hubber friends with excellent advice. That's a good thing!
Its a beautiful day here in Texas. One more lens changed to Hub and it looks good.
I just checked Analytics. I hit a 4-month traffic high yesterday. Good riddance to summer.
Now all my content has moved over to HubPages from Squidoo I'd like to brag that I've just finished formatting and addressing any issues to make all my hubs HubPage compliant. Love how easy the navigation and UI is here to correct any problems.
I got enough content to be approved for my AdSense account! This makes me happy.
Got in two hours of work on my quilt and was first to see the ultrasound of my new nephew!

WOO-HOO!I've been here 7 years, and for the first time EVER, I've made payout every month for the past 3 months in a row!!I do believe it's the new niche sites that have helped me in this respect. Plus several Amazon sales, which also may be due to the new niche sites.Thank you, Hub...

I am going through an extreme soul-searching exercise and would like to have some assistance from my fellow hubbers.I have spent far too many years allowing others in my life to dictate how I spend my time. For instance, many years were filled with sports and school events for the kids,...

As those of you who were around for the Hublove contest last year and got to participate, read, learn, and crank out some hubs like crazy people know, there was a thread called the Unofficial Hublove thread. Here I am again, this thread is not about griping about the inbox spam, it's not about...

What prompted this thread?I have exactly 700 connections at the moment. The problem? Over 650 of them are total slackers. It's getting to be a tough town over there, leastwise for me. And I've been a good little Bubbler as to treating my connections well.Guess maybe I should start writing hubs...

I don't know what is going on with my traffic the last few days.. I have seen a drop from 400 a day to 200, my stats froze earlier also.. my best hub was seeing 75 a day a few weeks ago and 30-40 the weeks after.. it has gone to an all time low of 8 this evening!

I remember the good old days around here, just thought I'd see if there is anything left.Everything is on the table. Post any conversation you want. What is on you mind? What did you accomplish today or recently? What is your opinion about the latest fiasco reported on the media? Pin forum rules...
