Got something to brag about? Here is where to do it. It can be a biggie. It can be something that is only important to you (those are the best).

    I will start.

    1. My hubs get daily views. It doesn't matter if it is only 10 or a 100 or a 1000.. What it means is that I contribute to society every day. Personally, I think that is a very big deal.

    2. I avoided a confrontation at the grocery store a couple days ago. It is amazing what maturity brings.

    3. All bills paid.

I'm bragging about my husband today he was able to get out of the car today without two men helping him. A great day.

I figured out an emergency plan yesterday after my, Mom was missing for about 1/2 hour (she suffers from dementia and decided to take a walk). Mind you, we live in the wilderness with big forests all around.  She had no idea where she was, but she did find her way back home.

      1. Daily views are a real boost to morale to me too. I check daily to see if anyone is reading my posts.
      2. Avoiding confrontation is the best way to make it through the day without regret. Congrats, Para.
      3. Bills are still paid after hubby was laid off last April. The bragging part for me is that he had an important phone interview yesterday that went well and is supposed to have another one with the hiring manager, soon. Thoughts and prayers for his success are much appreciated.
      Peg

Surprisingly I have a few things for a change.

Won a Hubbie or two - thanks to my mates, sold a Zazzle thing, one of my blogs is now doing better than one of my HP accounts, made my first stick man video on YouTube, had some nice comments without really fishing too much, avoided serious forum rows, making some dollars...

    That's enough bragging from me.

I've been hearing about Zazzle for years. Ya just gave the final impetus for me putting it on my to-do list.

I am proud of myself because I started editing one of my old hubs that definitely needed work. I am not into editing my old hubs, it is depressing and I would rather delete it. It's hard to come up with new words when you feel you've said it all already. But this hub needed a refresh quite badly and I really didn't want to dump it.

    1. My husband is retiring October 1st. We saved big time the last couple of years, saving every penny we could. Since he will only be 62, that is a big one for us.

    2. On the way to work today my husband had an accident and I didn't freak out. He's alright, but the vehicle is smashed up. Now I don't have a car. Years back I would have gotten wound up about this.

    3. I hit 1.5 million views just recently. The first million was a lot easier than the last half, since I've been hit by Google so many times. So many of my hubs were copied and that may have hurt.

That is enough bragging for one day.

    1) Even though I was running late for work, I followed this car into my work parking lot (a big chain grocery store), and parked near her when she finallyyyyy parked; I then rushed to follow her in, in order to catch her and let her know her tail lights/brake lights/turn signals were hardly working (so dim I could hardly tell she was turning/braking)... She was relieved to know.

    2) I rescued my boyfriend from work, his car wouldn't start, so I picked him up and we came home smile Hopefully my stepdad will be able to easily figure it out and fix it! We're car illiterate... unfortunately... hmm

I became a first-time Grandma this year.  My looooong awaited 5 month old Grandson (Apollo) slept at grammy's house last night.  I survived the 2AM feeding, the 5AM feeding, the poo-poo diapers (this little guy will NOT lay still for a minute!), the turkey and rice baby food (without gagging myself!), and walking/bouncing him for a full hour in order for him to take a half-hour cat-nap.  I waited 56 years for this moment - and wouldn't trade it for the world!

I am thankful for my sister Paula who is a two time breast cancer survivor and the fact she cared for me through my broken leg saga. She drove me around 300 miles one way to the hospital for surgery, doctor appoints and to rehab so I could learn to walk again. My leg has a plate and two screws in it and I had the best surgeon in the world---I am thankful for him. My sister is an Angel---I am nine years older than Paula and she was always my baby growing up. I know the great feeling of sisterly love. I love her beyond words. I am thankful for my hub friends, FB friends and Google+ friends and followers. And, for the blessings of my God.

I love what people are bragging about on this thread, especially posts like yours about truly meaningful events.  The Internet is just the Internet.  Nothing more. Not really important in the Big Picture.

This verse came to mind, so this will be my grateful boast today. smile

"If they want to brag, they should brag that they understand and know me. They should brag that I, the LORD, act out of love, righteousness, and justice on the earth. This kind of bragging pleases me, declares the LORD."
    Jeremiah 9:24
    GOD'S WORD Translation

    1. Writer Fox profile image39
Writer Foxposted 10 years agoin reply to this

A translation of Biblical verses is an interpretation.  The word your translation interprets as "brag" is not an accurate interpretation.  The Hebrew word is:
      הלל
and it means 'glory' or 'praiseful glory.'  It was used in musical liturgy in the Temple of Jerusalem and is used today in songs of praiseful glory. It has nothing to do with personally bragging about something.

To have a better understanding of this Hebrew word, see:
      http://biblehub.com/interlinear/jeremiah/9.htm
      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hallel
      http://www.jewishencyclopedia.com/articles/7109-hallel

      1. Sed-me profile image77
Sed-meposted 10 years agoin reply to this

Yes, you're absolutely right... Ive read many translations and "to glory in" is very common. They are not different meanings. I'm not sure what you thought my purpose was in posting that verse, but there's little to quarrel with. It was just a personal thought I had in response to the OP. There was no contention intended at all.

        1. Writer Fox profile image39
Writer Foxposted 10 years agoin reply to this

I know.  But, quoting something attributed to the God of Israel must be done with complete accuracy.  If not, it can be dangerous to the one quoting.

          1. Sed-me profile image77
Sed-meposted 10 years agoin reply to this

It was a direct quote from the Bible. If you don't like the translation, you'll have to take it up with several different biblical translations. I have no problem understanding that they have the same meaning. You may be confused about the possibilities of the word "brag". In any event, as I said, I find no reason to find contention here, and I wish you a good day. smile

            1. Writer Fox profile image39
Writer Foxposted 10 years agoin reply to this

The word 'brag' is entirely different in Hebrew and I'm not confused about that.  Neither is Google:
              https://translate.google.com/#en/iw/Brag

If you want to find out more about it, you could post something in the religious forum and probably get further insight.

  20. JustLivingOnline profile image72
    JustLivingOnlineposted 10 years ago

Hence the problem with the Bible, people can interpret it many different ways.  As we have seen in Today's world, many times the words are twisted to justify bad behavior.
While one might choose to ignore passages about it being a sin to cut your hair, shave, eat shellfish, drink alcohol, work on Sundays, get remarried after a divorce, lose your virginity before marriage, or wear gold- they will stand in the streets protesting about someone's sexual preference.  It is a messed up world.

    1. Writer Fox profile image39
Writer Foxposted 10 years agoin reply to this

There is no such passage in the Bible.  But, there are dozens of references about the prohibitions for working on the Sabbath, from Friday at sundown until Saturday at sundown. neutral

smart & fun.....Oh yeah.  The way I see it, you can still brag. You didn't officially take it to the level of unacceptable.   I would like to brag about the vow I made to myself to GIVE up on the Forums altogether, the very next time any post is hijacked by "Religious-related" comments, or just Religion in general.....most especially when they get entirely out of control and completely off topic!
This thread hasn't actually qualified quite yet.  It seems to have stopped for the time being.
I owe a few of my hubber friends 5 bucks.  They ALL told me to simply NOT visit the forums EVER, due to the constant insistence and tenacity (plus "annoyance") of those who will slide religion into a thread anyway, anytime & for whatever unrelated reason possible.   I can obviously brag about having smart hubber friends with excellent advice. That's a good thing!
