Make it easier to contact other Hubbers

It would be delightful if there was an easier way to contact some of the Hubbers. I have not done that often, since transferring from Squidoo, however - each time I wished to, I had to remember how to do it.

When I am on my profile page, and someone shows up who I am following, the message in blue letters says I can send any email to myself. I have to go to that Hubbers profile page, find my avatar, and click there to send that person an email.

Would it not be easier for us to contact someone here, if there was a "Send _____ an email" button, or a "Contact" button right near their bio information?

Not only does this feature exist (it's in your profile options), but each person has the right to turn that direct contact ability on and off.

Many site users like to utilize direct email for spam and the harassment of others.

      Dear Shades,
There has always been a :"Send (hubber) a Fan Mail," but I have found some that do not have this featuure. So if i have something to say to them, I read one of their hubs, vote, and leave my note to them, but you should contact HubPagesTeam for further answers.
      Your Friend, KENNETH

Thanks, Kenneth. I was able to find out how to do it, but was only suggesting it would be easier if there was a "message" link, or something. I posted the suggestion here, but don't think it is important enough for me to contact the team.

Because I am familiar with other sites where I write, and have written, I was simply a bit surprised that it is not as simple to figure out how to contact another Hubber, here on HP. That's all.

Sometimes I wouldn't want everyone to see what I had to say, on Fan Mail. Example, if there was a glaring typo, or a broken link, or something of that nature.

The "send a message" link is there, in the Fan Mail section.  Yes it will reveal your email address, but I think that is to stop people using it for spam (which does still happen occasionally).   You can always create a hotmail address specially for HubPages if you're concerned about that.

The "message" link used to be far more prominent but HubPages deliberately hid it, so I can't imagine them putting it back.

    Shades-of-truth,
Go to the profile page of the hubber you wish to contact. Click on Fan Mail, and then if they have emails allowed you will see: Send....an email on the upper right of the Fan mail page.

Thanks, Relache and Jodah. I did find out how to do it, just wish it was in more of a straightforward manner. There were a lot of us who were confused about it.

I agree I think it could be made easier too. On the persons profile page next to the see me on Facebook, Google+, etc? I put my email address in my profile information so people can just click the link there.

On our profile page, click on Fan Mail and you will see an option to "contact/email ..." .  That is the way HP protects our privacy. If someone emails us they do not know our email address unless we respond back to them.

Thank you, Phyllis. I figured it out, but wish the contact was here, through a message area. That way, no one would know our email address, unless we wanted them to. Appreciate all of the responses!

I still wish there were an in-house msg'ing system that bypassed email completely.

Five minutes after it launched, the whole thing would have to be taken down due to being overwhelmed with personal attacks and spam messages.

Why is HP worse for that kind of thing than other sites where it works? If we could choose our friends like Facebook messenger etc. I haven't experienced the kinds of personal attracts etc that occurs in the forums here anywhere else that I am a part of.

Aha! Sed-me, that is precisely what I was implying - an in-house messaging system.

You can be sure that any comments I have ever made to the staff:

        1) In house msging system
        2) tabs for our hubs
        3) the ability to hover on the poetry choices and have a description of each type in a pop up
        4) Removing the hubber score
        5) reporting pop up ads as requested... etc. etc.

have been unequivocally ignored. I would send them chocolate if it would make them like me more, but I think it's too late. Why can't I be timid and shy?

So yesterday my hubber score finally went up to 80... I have a question... is this comment the reason my hub dropped 2 points?

I like the idea of an in-house messaging system, but I think it could only work well if we could choose on our settings who is able to contact us--either nobody, mutual followers only, all HP members. or everybody. I currently have email turned off, but I'd allow all HP members to contact me if there were a choice. If that became a problem due to spammers, stalkers etc., I could switch to 'mutual followers only'. I suppose it could work in a similar way to the comment box.
