anyone else turning off the email notifications for new hubs? I'm maxed out and it's only Day freakin' Two.
Teresa I am ready to , but that seems to be the only way I am able to find out who is writing what, I can't seem to keep up as some are cranking out in masses.
Yes, I have. ( and I don't have G mail) but I do try to check hubtivity often and My favorites, and those who are responding to mine. It's a little crazy, but I think it will slow, and it will be an overall good thing.
My mailbox tends to fill quickly, but I'm going to do try to delete my unimportant mail more often.
Yeah I have done that as well. I normally get a lot of emails daily (hundreds) but yesterday it seemed especially busy so I turned mine off.
I did the same, as soon as I saw the challenge. Figured I hang out here enough, I can see who wrote what!
I haven't turned it off - yet. But I *am* considering unfanning some of the 100/30 crowd for the duration, and then re-fanning them after.
Wondered when people would start complaining about the Challenge overloading their mailboxes!
I knew it was going to happen. was one of my first concerns. I left mine on. I just worry that I'll delete something I shouldn't, like an important one from a literary agent.
fat chance of that probably this month anyway.
Don't unfan me! I just hit 200 tonight!
LOL hubchallenge gonna have negative effects also few off course.
I just make them all filter to 'read' status in Gmail -- that's pretty easy to do. If you want to know how to do it I can probably write something up for you guys.
Here's some info from Gmail's site about how to filter:

What about switching HP mail to an alternate e-mail address?
Because, of course, you can't change your e-mail address. Why not?
Thanks JamaGenee!
I did just cut off the email notification for when new hubs are posted. That should help a lot.
Sorry to hear that. How will you know when those 200 fans (which includes me) publishes new hubs???
I don't really use the email notification to tell me when you have. I really go through the hubtivity for the day when I come back from being out. I keep up pretty good. It's sometimes a struggle between reading and writing.
It's driving me bonkers. There are some people - not necessarily doing the challenge - that I would like to be notified about, so I haven't decided what I'll do. Did anybody think about quality?
I usually could find the ones I want to read pretty easily, not so much no more. Quality CR? Hubpages?
Yep that's why I'm not doing the challange. My writing is bad enough without working to a deadline. I am like Charlie, left my mail on and just skim through all the junk ones. (come on folks admit it there are junk ones, shame on all you so called 'writers' you sacrificed your reputations for the sake of glory).
Oh and all that money your gonna make. lol
I already get shiploads of email, so I have turned it off till this is over, and try to use more time on hubtivity to trace fan activity.
Phew thank goodness I am doing the challenge under a new login name! I would be fairly annoyed to loose my 1000 fans ! I must admit its not something I'd thought of! Though I can see it would be pretty boring getting 5 or 6 hubs in row all on a very similar topic
I feel that some of us will only be able to keep up with their very favorite fans.
You don't lose your fans if they tempoarily turn of their notification . . . do you?
I've had mine turned off since week one of being on hubpages, it does nothing, you just have to scroll to see who's written what.
I'm actually very pleased this came along cause it gave me the shove to split my public real me and the niche marketing stuff I do.
No one in their right mind wants to comment on a string of hubs all written around a very similar set of keywords- but from a search engine point of view its fine - but the people who find my news from google will probably only read one and then go and check out the eBay offers (I hope!)
I said the challenge would just mean good people would write crap, in a wild attempt to make up the given amount of Hubs, I have spammed the lot, and just manually check the Hubs of those I consistently enjoy.
Good people are not going to jeapordize their"good" standing by writing crap. If they do, so be it. Read some before you decide.
No seriously the Hubs some of the people that are churning out, are not their normal HIGH Standard. I have read quite a few and it does show.
it does show how? Like the hubs are crappy? or their hubs are good and their writing is improving? Inquiring minds want to know what you mean by that.....
If anyone thinks that of my hubs, I'd be glad if they'd tell me. I'm never offended by that type of thing, and I'd rather know.
I don't know about you guys, but I'm probably writing WAY too much (still working on my 4th), so I'm definitely keeping my quality up.
I wish I could write something that was complete junk, but that's not how I roll.
I turned mine off a long time ago. There is one hubber that I fanned that would write ten hubs back to back so I finally decided to just turn it off. If I really want to see, I will look in on my faves from time to time. I do read the hubactivities though.
Same here. If you use Outlook, I have a great way to see how much space you're using.

I turned it off too...and now I remain blissfully ignorant...which is not always a good thing!
I'm another one who's turned off the email notifications. And I do think there's been a slip in standards, even among some of my favourite Hubbers. It's the little things - like typo's, spelling mistakes, clunky sentences, overlong paragraphs. The kind of thing they would have fixed if they'd done a more careful edit.
Yep - I filtered. Soon as I realised just how many were actually in the challenge AND on my list. Like someone else said - I'm on here enough to pick up who published what.

Hi all, we are aware that there is a widespread issue with authors not receiving notifications. I've let the engineers know, and they will get to it as soon as they're able. So sorry for the confusion and inconvenience this has caused.

When I checked my email this morning, I had 5 emails from HubPages telling me someone had replied to my forum posts - including myself in 2 (at least some]/i] of the emails contained multiple post notifications).I can handle not being notified of this new feature, but I'd seriously like to know why...

Isabella pointed out in a comment on one of my recent hubs that she did not receive an email notification that I had published it. (Thanks for the heads up.) Since then, I've asked quite a few people from my fanclub, and NONE of them have gotten ANY email notifications for my hubs in weeks. This is...

Hi all,For a while now, you've been able to choose how and when you're sent emails notifying you of new Hubs, Questions, Answers, and Forum Threads created by Hubbers you follow. You have been able to select "instant emails" or a daily digest, and either get these emails always, never, or...
