Cris - I used to people watch from the balcony - ciggy and coffee to keep me company - but I almost fell off a time or two tripping over plants. Now I go downstairs and sit outside 'my' café - safer and altogether more pleasant wink

I'm terrible for the coffee. I sometimes have milk - sometimes it's just a shot. Depends mainly on my heart rate ...

And I really do enjoy watching the world go by. I have a park near me, where I like to sit and do just that. Usually I take a load of bread and feed my ducks (mine because I own them by right of feeding them so often) then I sit, knotting keyrings and just ... observe ... smoke ... chug coffee ... bliss big_smile

So...Fat Tuesday....Mardi Gras here in Louisiana...I was out of gum. Usually I panic but I thought I'd  see how long I could go until I went crazy. Today is May 31 and still no gum. I have an addictive personality but this is really something.

    1. frogdropping profile image75
frogdroppingposted 15 years agoin reply to this

The port's along the estuary. Then the beaches kick in - Cascais, Estoril. The mountains are a little more inspiring further north - not to mention bringers of snow in winter. The city itself is built on seven hills.

Which is why I use the metro a lot. Walking around Lisbon can be tough stuff! The walk from Rossio up to Bairro Alto for e.g. A killer walk and far too many steps IMO. Same when you climb up to Castelo de São Jorge - fantastic views from the castle but damn ... I whined every step of the way up!

      Lisbon needs a street elevator!
