Peace on Hubpages?

    Is peace possible on hubpages?

    I find it pretty amusing that most of us will say we would love world peace, yet many of us will resort to fighting like children when someone writes something we disagree with.

    If we can't even come to peace on hubpages, how would world peace ever be possible? lol

      There is a difference between civil discussion and discourse (which is a well-protected and prized political right), and brawling.  Intelligent debate participants are always respected and disagreements should not be seen in a negative light, but as contributing to the ongoing conversation and make up of our ideas and aspirations in society as a whole.

      The problem we have here on Hubpages is that many are uninformed, many are just plain mean, and many are out to do some trolling.

      This is really sad. I should not have put an "lol" at the end of the question, it's actually pretty sad. I just find it strange that we have not came further than this with the time we have had.

        The only way I don't see peace possible is if it's viewed as impossible. I think we are already partly androids, most of us rely on others to think for ourselves. I don't think it would be boring if more of us relied on ourselves. I think it would be enlightening.

    He said
    Mum if we were invaded by another country, or army and given the choice to join with them or die ,which would you do?

    ( love kids with searching minds huh)..lol

    My answer was ..If they valued life and treated one another with respect I would join with them ,rather than die..( think someone will tell me its called defecting) but in that scenerio I would call it survival.

    So then what would I do for peace...I would choose life , but if that wasnt going to work Id choose death...smile

    Nature is like a bellows

    The more it moves, the more it yields;
    And can not be exhausted.

    The World will rise and move;
    Watch it return to rest.
    All the flourishing things
    Will return to their source.
    This return is peaceful;
    It is the way of Nature

    Horses have hoofs to carry them over frost and snow; hair, to protect them from wind and cold. They eat grass and drink water, and fling up their heels over the prairie. Such is the real nature of horses. Palatial dwellings are of no use to them.

        One day Po Lo appeared, saying: I understand the management of horses. So he branded them, and clipped them, and pared their hoofs, and put halters on them, tying them up by the head and shackling them by the feet, and putting them in stables. As a result, two or three in every ten died. Then he kept them hungry and thirsty, trotting them and galloping them, and grooming, and trimming, with the misery of the tasseled bridle before and the fear of the knotted whip behind, until more than half of them were dead.

        The potter says: I can do what I will with clay. If I want it round, I use compasses; if rectangular, a square. The carpenter says: I can do what I will with wood. If I want it curved, I use an arc; if straight, a line. But on what grounds can we think that the natures of clay and wood desire this application of compasses and square, of arc and line? Nevertheless, every age extols Po Lo for his skill in managing horses, and potters and carpenters for their skill with clay and wood. Those who govern the empire make the same mistake.

        Now I regard government of the empire from quite a different point of view. The people have certain natural instincts: to weave and clothe themselves, to plough and feed themselves. These are common to all humanity, and all are agreed about this. Such instincts come from nature.

       And so in the days when natural instincts prevailed, men moved quietly and gazed steadily. At that time, there were no roads over mountains, nor boats, nor bridges over water. All things were produced, each for its own proper sphere. Birds and beasts multiplied; trees and shrubs grew up. The former might be led by the hand; you could climb up and peep into the raven's nest. For then man dwelt with birds and beasts, and all creation was one. There were no distinctions of good and bad men. Being all equally without knowledge, their virtue could not go astray. Being all equally without evil desires they were in a state of natural harmony, the perfection of human existence.

       But when philosophers and prophets appeared, tripping up people over charity and fettering them with duty to their neighbor, doubt found its way into the world. And then, with their preoccupation with the performance of music, and their fussing over ceremony, the empire became divided against itself.

    I think if you search out conflict, conflict will find you...

    My experience on HubPages has been extremely positive...I have discovered Hubbers I now consider my friends and our exchanges have always been intelligently critical and supportive...

    I seldom venture into the forums because, as Lita has said, many are uninformed, and are simply venting...I am talking about the political and religion oriented forums...

      This would not be reality. It might put people in good spirits, but it wouldn't be telling the truth. I tend not to sugar coat things. I do love everyone and have hope for everyone who hasn't given up on themselves or others. I think there is only loss when hope is lost. Hope still remains.

          I agree, however some of us must see things different. If we locked ourself in a room with no windows or doors, this would be control. When you say "No one makes our reality", this is 1/2 true. To others of us, "society makes our reality". It's our option whether or not we choose to view all of it or only the good parts.

    ☮ I try to be peaceful but that obviously isn't the case for everyone here. I've been called lots of things. Only to try not to take it personally, and hope that one day the person will find peace within themselves. A lot of times people make assumptions rather than ask questions. I find that to be quite frustrating at times. I agree with Neil that people must find peace for themselves first. ☮

    When people get upset in a virtual world you can guarentee it has nothing to do with that virtual world. People project like crazy.

    I have sympathy with people who get upset. But its tempered by the fact that whatever upset them can't actually hurt them.

      Ah, but it can hurt them. It's the negative thought/reaction of being upset that leads to that persons negative actions.
