Hi friends, It is rather discouraging to see my hubscore get lowered like did. It would be great if they stayed the same number permanently. It was in the high 70's.
Hugs to all.
I hear where you're coming from. Many of the veteran hubbers say over and over don't worry about it. BUT for me it's still a bummer when you see your score drop 2 to 4 or more points and stay down for days or weeks for no particular reason.
Frustrating yes, relevant, probably not. Just keep doing what you are doing.
I'm not a big fan of the hub scores. I'm not sure why they are necessary. If mine drops three points I'm right back in high school with, "You got a B+???? You're going to have to try harder little lady!" lol!
Nikki, with as many hubs as you have, I would have thought your score would be higher. So, I went out to read your hubs. Hun, your hubs look beautiful.....BUT.....they are over-promotional. Your hubs scream BUY ME, with a few brief words by you. Try writing 500+ words and give just a sprinkling of ads. You just don't have enough words in your hubs in my opinion.
However, I will say, if your system is generating you tons of AdSense or Amazon revenue then forget I said anything and quit worrying about your score.
Relevant, yes... it's a good way to nullify one of the rewards that spammers seek by making all the outbound link in hubs of an under 75 HubberScore account to be nofollow.
Other than that I suggest avoid hitching your emotions onto an scoring/ranking algorithm as there will be more lows than highs.
LOL....I love you to death, but sometimes you talk over my head. Put in English for us less-technical folks.
Quite relevant. Stop spamming, and your score will skyrocket.
Ditto pgrundy and Darkside. The only reason someone should care about their author score is if 1) they are looking to HP to provide DoFollow backlinks to another site/blog; or 2) they need reassurance that they're doing okay.
The author/hubber score relies a lot on participation in the forums, comments, etc. I really wish people would get a better handle on the fact that it's not as reflective of their hubs or their writing as it is on how well they play the social butterfly role.
I may be wrong, but I don't think unpublished hubs have an effect on your hubscore. I keep 10-12 unpublished hubs and have had 100 hubscore while it's that way.
I was at 91 for like a week straight, and I dropped to 89 today... it made me sad. I'm hope its related to the generally lower weekend traffic.
Hey Darkside, question for you. Do you have a handle on how traffic plays a part in hub/author scores? I keep hearing this traffic thing over and over and over again relating to hub scores, and yet my individual hub scores have absolutely no correlation to individual hub traffic.
Trust me, I'm not worried about my hub scores because I'm not relying on them for backlinks (yet), but I keep hearing this traffic/hubscore thing around the forums and it's starting to drive me crazazy!
I believe there isn't just one way of scoring high.
I can have a hub with little traffic hit 100. Such as my one on HubScore (funnily enough!). I'm thinking that if someone goes there they'll be there for a while reading it. And most likely giving it a thumbs up. So 'time spent on hub' could be a contributing factor. Not to mention the thumbs up.
Other times I can have a hub such as my one on Free AntiViruses hit a 100, and there's no comments. But there is traffic. Outside traffic.
Perhaps a combination of these factors, a bit of each, can also get a hub to score highly.
But that's HubScore. For HubberScore it'll be a combination of those factors and a few other things thrown in. They also throw in a little something else so the scores fluctuate a little, just to make it harder for anyone to figure out how it all works so it can't be gamed.
Some good advice given above.
Just keep the faith .. and follow the advice.
It really is quite simple. Write unique and good quality hubs. Be active in the forums and comment on other peoples hubs and your score will be just fine.
Yeah interaction is a biggy, mine was in the 90's last time I was on, it started fairly high, it peaked when I wrote a series of satirical, sillies about Goggle, I think by being active in the Forums, it was also helped. Plus if I like you I will fan you. As I have you Dale, interesting and informative, and not just ubiquitous correlation, for the sake of adsense dollars.
Again.. thanx for your encouragement. Guys. I definitely feel the love in here.
Lots of good advice here - thanks all! And thanks Nikki for asking the question.
i wouldn't worry too much about it. i have one friend on here, that has a low hubscore in the twenties, yet she makes a ton on here. so i wouldn't let it get you down.
I wouldn't be too worried about it. It changes from time to time. I'd be more worried about individual hub scores because those can dictate how much internal traffic you receive.

Which way do you think your Hubscores will go with the NEW change to the Hubscore algorithm? See "An Update to HubScore" http://blog.hubpages.com/2015/02/26/an- … -hubscore/Note that the revision will:* deemphasise traffic - from all sources* put more of an emphasis on quality as...

Is it me or have the Hub scores been fluctuating more drastically the last week or so?

I'd like to suggest we get rid of Hubber Score - and perhaps even Hub Scores. They:- are constantly misunderstood;- cause a lot of upset and grief in the forums; and- encourage newbie Hubbers to direct their efforts in entirely wrong directionsFor instance, I've known newbie Hubbers stop...

After 6 months on the site i've started the really wonder how many backlinks is a reasonable number to any hub, and really to a hub becoming successful? Or is it simply a lottery. What kind of figures do other hubbers consider?

I am sort of disappointed. I try to be active in the site as much as possible, comment on other people's hubs, help out in the forums, add new hubs once every two weeks, participate in the question and answer and my hubscore is slowly decreasing. Any advice from expert Hubbers on how to...

I would like a better explanation of the Hub Score. I have a Hub that I uploaded on May 12th, it's ranked #2 on Google search results for its main keyword phrase, it's getting 175 visits per day sent by Google, but the Hub Score is only 78. Is that because someone at MTurk didn't like...
