Has anyone else seeing it?
I'm seeing it adding itself to some of my hubs. Above the Comments Capsule. Do you think some people might use it instead of the Comment Capsule?
If it were in the right hand column it would be less confusing.
Yes indeedy - I was not sure what it was for at first, and had to go back and remove my comment from it (how inattentive of me! lol)
Some where other than where it is would be very good, though I imagine we will get used to it eventually!
yes, I almost did leave a comment in this box.
so nice to see how suggestions are considered so promptly by HP staff. I now notice the 'question' box on the right as you have suggested here.
I'm seeing it adding itself to some of my hubs too, and I'm not really pleased with that.
I'm rather puzzled as to why HubPages would do that without telling or asking me... Admin? Got any answers?
I actually received two questions from people at my email address one day. Then I went to my hubs and saw the module there when I wasn't signed in. When I was signed in, I didn't see it--it vanished.
It's very inviting - but I kind of wish the question would go to Comments instead of email - if I am correct in that the two questions I got in a row were from those modules. Perhaps they just tried to contact me through the regular contact link. But I get questions very sporadically, so it's doubtful. No questions since then, though. And I haven't seen the module since then.
Yup, I just noticed it this weekend. Confused me right up.
I thought, when I first saw it, that somebody who is not familiar would think that a question put into that box would go directly to the author of the hub.
People will def use it instead of the comment capsule, not realizing they are two different things.
Maybe there could be a real quick explanation with the capsule that explains what it is? For non-hubbers or off-site traffic.
Yes, I have seen it on my own and others, it must be a new feature to generate more feedback, interaction, perhaps initiative to begin a new hub... I haven't asked any questions yet..
it did surprise me when I first saw it, I thought I forgot to do something!
I thought about ASKING what the "ask a question" box was for.
I thought about doing the same! Just saw it this morning in someone else's hub this morning and came here looking for some announcement.
I did assume it was a new capsule option and that the question would go to the author of the hub, especially given how it's located. If that's not the case, then something needs to change because that will confuse too many people...
I'd seen it and even looked in the forums to see if anyone had any insight on what and why. Now leaves me wondering if anyone has had anyone ask a question since this addition?
I noticed it over the weekend and I also think it is in the wrong place. I also think for people unfamiliar with hubpages may use it thinking there question will go to the author and for those of us familiar with the site may place a comment in there by mistake, as I nearly did!
I noticed the question box several days ago on others' hubs before mine. I assumed it was to ask the author a question. I knew it was not a capsule option however when I saw it on mine and knew I didn't select it.
So am I understanding this is for the HP question bank and does not go to the hub author?
Hi, I saw it the other day in one of my hubs nd so I was tempted to ask a question, it was directed to me in my email...and need to answer it , it said,, LOL
Yes I noticed it too. I wrote comments in it a few times and had to delete it as it was in the wrong place.
Oh good I am not the only one who doens't know what it is for....
I did the same thing too.. put comments in it..
I've seen it at the bottom of some hubs and at the moment I'm seeing it under my profile pic in the right hand column -- but I'm not really clear on what it is?? I thought it was a very clever Adsense ad the first time I saw it!
so did we figure out if the ask a question box that appeared on our hubs is to ask the author something about that particular hub?? I'm confused.
Not only the "ask a question" thing, but did anyone notice the "related topics" and the forum questions? I hadn't noticed this before...is this new too??
Ever since the sub-forums were introduced, related forum topics and questions(requests) are being shown.
Before commenting, please read through the thread so you know what we're talking about...
I was not talking about the "ask a question" capsule, you please read the quoted message inside my post to understand what I was telling there!
I mean these things on right column:
related questions and related forum topics.
Yes, I realize that you are not talking about the "ask a question" capsule - that's why I said what I said.
This thread, however, IS about the "ask a question" capsule. If you want to talk about something else, I suggest you start your own thread about it - that's all I'm saying...
What's your problem? I knew that the "ask a question" capsule is new, about which I had nothing to say new because others had commented a lot and we have to wait for what Admin has to say.
I was simply answering a question asked by Beth100, that was not an attempt to hi-jack the thread or anything wrong.
I did read the thread. Just happened to notice another thing and thought that someone would be able to answer. Which Webismine did. BTW, thanks Webismine.
I'd seen it on someone else's hub yesterday and thought it was a new capsule to add. Then I replied to a comment on my own hub and there was one there too! I guess they come standard on all models now!
I wish the HP staff would address this because it's not ideal.
I wondered why, I thought it was a new capsule, too. I did receive two emailed questions, I thought they got it from my profile.

What do you think of getting one-word comments? How do you feel when you get one-word comments on your hubs? I can't decide. I'm really pleased people bother to comment at all, but at the same time much prefer getting longer comments. I don't think I've ever left only a one-word comment on a hub or...

What are the potentially cons of not using a comment box?I'm tired of answering the same questions over and over again. I'm tired of getting rude comments. I'm tired of dealing with it basically. I want to help people, but answering the same question over and over again or having to defend myself...

That's my question. I refresh my Hub "In the Daze" every quarter or so. The old comments from the previous hub are still there. How do I delete them? Sorry to be so dense. Could you help me with this?THNXMarsha

I'm sure there are many reasons for and against responding to comments left by your readers. What do you think?
