Anyone else seeing double earnings this month compared to last month?

Halfway through this month I've made $3-something, compared to $3-something for the whole of last month - with the HubPages Ad Program. Although I'm not complaining of course, I do find it a little odd when so far this month I've hardly popped in at HubPages at all, and haven't added any new hubs in quite a while too. I find it interesting that it seems my earnings can increase here, when I do nothing at all here for ages. I used to think that it was more like the more active one was on HubPages, the more one could earn on HubPages, but what is happening now is proving opposite.

I was WAY down last month and and this month, I too have been less active. M earning are back to normal! The increase has more to do with something happening in search results and ranking than our personal activity..I am just glad it is back to normal!

Let's hope it stays back to normal, or even increases further.

Yes, I am seeing a big increase in earnings this month. But, what is strange is my views are down.

That is a little strange - both my earnings and views are up, through no effort/activity by me this month.

I'm seeing the same. Views are way down but earnings are higher. My CPM is higher right now, too.

this is what i have been wondering lately and would really appreciate your answers, if i dont post any new hub how much impact it will have on my published hubs from earning's view point? is it really necessary to keep on publishing hubs to earn money, i have around 37 hubs and want to bring it to 40 hubs and then stop for a while, will that lead to a fall in my earnings if i dont post at all for months? Any one with the right information please do help me out.

Hi - it's been 3 months since I last published a hub, and yet my earnings in just half this month are equal to the earnings of the whole of last month. It used to be that the more I published the more I earned, but now I don't know anymore.

The earnings from the HP ad program have much more to do with which advertisers they've got on board and how much they're willing to pay to advertise. The more advertisers there are the more competition there is which increases CPM. That's why the CPM can vary so much. You could also be getting more clicks because there is a new advertiser with an ad that appeals to your visitors.

It's got nothing at all to do with activity on the site.

I haven't written a hub in over a year and my earnings are not affected by that at all.

Also, some people are reporting increased traffic to their subdomains (possibly due to the removal of so much rubbish from the site in the last 6 months or so) - increased traffic usually equates to increased earnings.

Thanks, Susana S - perhaps a new interesting ad then, since my average CPM this month is the same as last month. I guess it could be for any number of reasons, as your answer explains. Just hope it stays up!
