lol working... I have been out of work since July '08. I wrote a book and finished it. Shopped it around for a while and started another book and then I found online writing in June of '09 and I've been trying to get a handle on making that work for me ever since so that is why I'm pushing to make this work for me while I go back to school.

The schooling will be paid for with grant money as the shortage of nurses is extreme right now. Living arrangements are taken care of for the most part but I would like to have extra to spend. It would make things more comfortable. I just hope I get accepted.

oh i see.  i'm sorry to hear that lynne.  I didn't know that.  are you okay?  i know how it's like to be out of work too.  i've been trying to find a job since i got laid off last april. luckily, i still have a part time job and unemployment to rely on, but that can only last so long.  im sorry to hear that lynne.  i hope things work out for you.

Thanks Steven. Yeah, I'm okay. I'm very, very fortunate to have two very loving parents who support me and have helped out tremendously over the last few years. I have a roof and lots of love thanks to them and they are actually behind this going back to school thing too even though I let them down with it way back when.

It's hard just about everywhere to find a job and while I had a good one, it bottomed out. I was a realtor and well I really had to make a decision did I keep chunking money into advertising when no sales were coming in or put my license on inactive and start looking for a job. I chose to look for the job but small town not a lot of opportunities for work and most jobs that do come available end up with a plethora of applicants. I pretty much gave up until Pinkylee pushed me to pursue the going back to school thing.

  13. profile image0
    Stevennix2001posted 15 years ago

that's cool.  what kind of poems do you write?  you should  probably publish them on hubpages as im sure you'll get a lot of traffic for them.

im usually into movies, music, doing stuff online lol, video games, basketball, and mostly being with some friends.

  14. profile image0
    pinkyleeposted 15 years ago

yeah i love being with friends and fam and all

i write whatever pops in my head lol havent writtenone since 07'

  15. profile image0
    Stevennix2001posted 15 years ago

that's cool.  maybe you should start writing some for hubpages.  i know those usually tend to draw in a lot of traffic.  i'm usually the same way whenever i write those too.

i dont know if i can cuz most of mine are when bad things happened and nothing bad has happened to me in this relationship lol

  17. profile image0
    Stevennix2001posted 15 years ago

lol.  well that might be a good thing that you haven't had anything bad happen to ya in a while.  lol.  maybe you should try writing about experiences you had in the past then.

  18. profile image0
    pinkyleeposted 15 years ago

thats what most of mine are now is stuff i wrote when something bad happened to me

  19. profile image0
    Stevennix2001posted 15 years ago

oh i see.  im sorry to hear about that.  hopefully, you haven't had too many experiences like that though.

  20. profile image0
    pinkyleeposted 15 years ago

sadly i have but i look at it as a blessing because i wouldnt be where i am in life without it happening

    Stevennix2001posted 15 years ago

lol.  that's pretty cool.  so how many poems have you written though?

  23. profile image0
    pinkyleeposted 15 years ago

i have written some 60ish poems since 1998

  24. profile image0
    Stevennix2001posted 15 years ago

wow, that's a lot of poems.  lol.   maybe you should publish them on here.  i bet you'll get a  lot attention on this site for it.

    1. profile image0
pinkyleeposted 15 years agoin reply to this

eh i dunno ... some of them make no sense to anyone but me and some dont rhyme but are more a short story type deal.

  25. profile image0
    Stevennix2001posted 15 years ago

short?  you should check out Sab Oh's poems.  hers are very short, yet she still publishes them.  lol. i think most of them are like two or three lines long. not saying its a bad thing, as I do think she writes great poems though.  lol

  26. profile image0
    pinkyleeposted 15 years ago

the poems arent short but some are more like short stories and the ones she writes sound like hiku's.. i dont know i am my worst critic

  27. profile image0
    Stevennix2001posted 15 years ago

well yeah that's true about the hiku part.  lol. i know what you mean.  personally, im my own worst critic too.  that's why I rarely publish stuff outside of film reviews since it would involve me revealing a bit more about myself personally.

  28. profile image0
    pinkyleeposted 15 years ago

yeah this is true and not always a bad thing but when its public like this site or myspace, facebook, or any other websites its kinda hard to want to publish stuff that is too personal... thats why i like yahoo messenger where i can talk and add whoever i want and feel like getting to know on that level. plus i live on the theory of trust no one and let them give you a reason to trust them

  29. profile image0
    Stevennix2001posted 15 years ago

yeah, i agree with you. the problem with most people online is that not everyone is what they seem.

  30. profile image0
    pinkyleeposted 15 years ago

    exactly

  31. profile image0
    Stevennix2001posted 15 years ago

lol.  that's true.  anyways, what do you usually listen to on the radio?

  32. profile image0
    pinkyleeposted 15 years ago

country and rap but i like a lot of other stuff  what about you

  33. profile image0
    Stevennix2001posted 15 years ago

i usually listen to a bit of rock and alternative music.  so who's your favorite rap/country artist?

  34. profile image0
    pinkyleeposted 15 years ago

i have to many to really choose just one ... it's the songs that make the impact on me but if i had to choose i would say that reba is on the top of the country list for me and t.i. is probably at the top of the rap list. sublime has recently become on my favs list and then i also like nickleback and a few others ... i also like a lot of old songs and artists like journey.

@Lynne - That's wonderful you are returning to school!

Lynne and Steve - Sorry to hear about your job situations... Its tough out there.  My husband lost his job in the fall, but we were extremely lucky that he found something else after about 2 months.  I hope you find what you are looking for.

Pinkylee - Welcome! I assume I'm guessing right that there's a family resemblance going on here? smile

    Hi B.C.!

As for the rest of you.
    HEEELLLLLOOOOOO?!?!?!?

    lynnechandlerposted 15 years ago

hey and good morning to you TS. Yeah little family resemblance going on there with me and Pinkylee and thanks for the well wishes. I wish they would let me know something from the school but I know the application package was complete as of last week so hopefully soon.

    1. ThoughtfulSpot profile image74
ThoughtfulSpotposted 15 years agoin reply to this

Don't stress too much about the application, especially depending on what semester you are applying for.  I'm looking into school myself, and, since I wouldn't be starting until summer semester, they told me I wouldn't hear a thing for 6 - 8 weeks from the time my application was complete.

I hope yours is sooner... I know I'm going to pull my hair out waiting that long.

ACK!!! Threaded view is new and scary!!! I'm running away back to chronological.  (I fear change).

Sorry - I'm in a really loopy kind of mood today.  Not much sleep at the hotel, tons of work today, and none of the other staff in but my direct supervisor who is bored and looking for someone to talk to - so we're both being kind of goofy.

I think I'll blame it on the "snow crazies."

  44. profile image0
    lynnechandlerposted 15 years ago

Yeah I figure since I want to start in the fall it will be a bit before I hear anything for sure. Thing is I need to get with a guidance counselor on the financial aid and all so I can have all that taken care of before then.

What are you looking into a degree or career change or just finishing up?

    1. ThoughtfulSpot profile image74
ThoughtfulSpotposted 15 years agoin reply to this

I like my career, but I feel like its time to have something else in my hip pocket.  I had always planned on having 2 degrees, and just never got around to the second one.  My husband is in his last semester of finishing up his associates, and although he would like to ultimately get a bachelor's, we've decided to leapfrog and take turns.  So, when he finishes up in the summer, its my turn.  Then, hopefully, once I'm done, he'll be able to pursue the rest of his.
