or maybe this dance will get you moving and grooving...
when I was 15 we moved from Kansas to Chicago - I got out of there as soon as I could! but now I realize that it was really a good place and I was just a stubborn little girl. However, since my parents were so tired of parenting it all worked out great for all of us when I left and went out to explore the world! Where did you grow up Hmr?
from age 6 Aurora Il till 17 when I joined the Army (was gonna be drafted anyway) Since then all over the world....
If it were one of two or three probably not but since that is all that remains till I can say my feet have been on every continent Yeah I do, just don't have the necessary skills to get there..
because I happen to know a guy who does research in Antarctica on penguins and he would know how you could maybe get on a ship there as a volunteer - maybe get expenses paid for part of your trip that way and learn about the penguins and seals etc there. He was in that movie that Werner Herzog made about Antarctica - if you're interested, I will try to find out for you more info. If you want, look him up online - David Ainley is his name and he has a book called Penguinessence!
How bout you? If there were one place you had to go see where is it?
I have always wanted to go to PagoPago and actually retrace Gauguin's footsteps taking photos of the places where he visited and do a kind of comparison - then and now.
I shouldn't go around volunteering my friends for things, I realize - so I have no actual idea whether David can help you get to Antarctica, but it is possible - let me know if you want me to do that, Hmr.
get you application in kiddo,, don't want to have to wait for it when the chance pops up!!
I gots to go for a while (gym) should be back later though Be Koo EL Sweetie!!
Hpws school going? Did you get moving done?
All pretty much quiet here though..
ah come on, I wanted to tell somebody about my new Adam Lambert hub and how I'm still nuts about him! or not.
I could just talk about you and your problems or happiness!
I'll be flexible - don't let me kill this thread!
Hmr - The one place really on my "bucket list" currently is Greece. I suppose is the theatre geek in me, but I have a need to see where it all began. (Dream vacation would be a mediteranean cruise with lots of time to relax and then a whirlwind trip around Greece.)
Mega - That Gaugin trip sounds amazing. Give me about 18 years until the kids get out of the house, and I'm there with ya'! HaHa.
Denno - How's school? Got my app and my rec's in... just waiting on my transcript (and a lot of work on financial aid!)
Everyone else - Howdy! Not sure when I'll be back around today, but I am SO glad to be home. (Got snowed in at work for 2 days... )
Hello little kitty.
I've brought you a nice insulated case for your rifle so you can warm yourself by the fire w/o worry.
meows. thanks, i appreciate that. lol. hows it going?
Ok. Having sort of a lazy day. We were all supposed to go to sis-in-laws for Superbowl, but my little guy is sick (again - he's highly prone to respiratory infections and ear infections, so its always something.) He's doing better, but not well enough to go out. So, my husband's going to take our other son, but the 17mo old and I are just going to hang at home.
Anyone else have mountains of snow outside?
It was the bane of my existence the last 2 days since I got stuck at work and most of my crew got stuck at home... but now that we're shoveled, and I'm home and the sun has shown its face, its quite beautiful here.
same here. speaking of which, i gtg. thanks for reminding me. see ya.
@ Stevie- No, nothing serious. He's running a fever with a nasty cough and runny nose. Pretty typical kid stuff. He has ear tubes, so they drain whenever he's got an ear infection, which we are seeing too (sorry if that's too graphic). But, the drainage is actually good... before the tubes, his ears would get so plugged up that the infection wouldn't go away, and he'd be in serious discomfort. Now, we just see it, give him some ear drops for a few days, and he's a much happier camper.
@ Hmr - Hey there!
time to resurrect the tribe - get some new members, invite your relatives, whatever. I am bored out of my skull! so much so, in fact I joined the Spag. Monster vs. Invis Pink Unicorn debate! gahhhhhhhhhhhhh!
It has been kinda quiet in here. I've been hitting a few other topics as well. I should be writing however, lol.
geesh I am gone for a few days I come back and the place is empty what's up with that?
well, maybe its because we're all so darn nice! no bashing or wanking or calling of names! no terrible arguments about the origins of things! no careless wording of otherwise innocent posts for someone to be offended by! what can we do to make it more interesting? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.......~:
Mega - I dislike your avatar and am offended by your use of the word "careless." Are any of us truly careless? Are you implying that the human race has lost its ability to care? You are a poo-poo head.
(Not really, of course... but, did that help? Obviously there's a reason I avoid those other threads... )
I'm sure you're a very intelligent and insightful person, with a lot to say! I know that you have never posted a careless word on the forums! But PLEASE! poo-poo head? Leave the bashing to the pros, dear! I can tell you spend a lot of time with kids!
and you don't like my new avatar? part devil, part angel? so like me I think! :
HaHa. I was just messing around, and the "poo-poo head" struck me as funny at the moment. (I have a whole collection of preschool oriented slurs if anyone wants to see them sometime... perhaps a new hub.
)
And, actually, I do like your avatar. A bit of a departure, and an homage to the split personalities I think most of us have deep (or not so deep) inside.
As for bashing, I can be quite nasty if I choose to, but I learned a long time ago that life is too short for that nonsense. So, I try to stay clear. Mess with my family and you'll get an earful, otherwise, its "Live and Let Live" for this girl.
'Night all. Gotta get some sleep. Looks like I'll be packing up the kids for daycare, as well as a bag for myself tomorrow. We're set for another 12-18 inches of the white stuff here, so it'll be work and the hotel for me again for a day or two.
I'll check back in with y'all when I get back to some computer access.
Hi lorlie, do you think I'm a poo-poo head ? That was ThoughtfulSpot trying to bash me - that's what she called me! LMAO - so cute!
I'm pretty good, but off to dreamland soon...perhaps we'll run into one another tomorrow!
By the way, I never got the chance to see The Lovely Bones this weekend, and in our little town, movies don't stay long. It's gone. So, I'll just have to check it out on DVD. Oh, well.
oh i see. i guess im a bit rusty on my street lingo. lol.
Thoughtful - I was kidding too! I think you know that - I love poo-poo head and also dumb-head (or dumkopf) and spaghetti brains and pie-face and stupid-head
I am gonna sit here all day like a little spidey and wait until someone says something dumb and then jump on em with poo-poo head ! probably won't have to wait long, either! heh heh :
I'm sending a big 'ol caca-face, poo-poo head out to the weather. Just booked my hotel room through work tonight... I'll have to stay over at least tonight so I can be shuttled into work in the morning. Hoping to make it home Wednesday night, but no guarantees. We got hit w/ about 20 inches last week which we've shoveled out from... looks like we'll be digging out of another 18 by tomorrow night. Ugh. I'm ready for spring.
Anybody for roast groundhog?
i'll pass on the roasted groundhog but i got some left over spaghetti from last night if anyone wants any
Wonder if roasted ground hog is anything like opossum? Taste just like chicken right?
Pretty sure just about everything "tastes like chicken" if its seasoned properly!

This is likely A LOT to "ask" but if you have a few minutes please take a look. I've been having fun here on Hubpages for nineteen months and have recently decided to take the productivity level more seriously. I've started designing my own website and intend to start writing more and...

I've just received word that I've qualified to receive some "assured long-term" benefits for disability - on an application process that took over 2 years and many individuals/professionals as advocates' assistance. This means that I can evade the constant worry of homelessness, so long...

I have two hubs up so far. I am not entirely sure what a great ranking would be considering that they are quite new, but they are both above 60. Is this pretty good for newly established hubs? I would appreciate any feedback on my work and what can be done to improve for the future, as well as...

Wrote a new hub this afternoon, just for fun. It is topical, relating to a new news item today. Would someone like to read it in it's entirety and comment, please? Pretty please? I don't usually do 'satire' if that is what it could be described as, should I leave it as it is, or go a bit further...
