I never realized until today just how uncool and "un popular" the Tribe is! Finding it hysterical to read the posts by the "in crowd" who are not happy with the forums because it isn't any fun anymore. What is it that they actually want, I wonder? never mind - mulled wine anyone?
popularuty always sucked anyway ... oh and i have a beer but thank you
I wonder what the science of this situation on the forums is - I mean it seems that periodically there is a blow-up and people fume at each other for awhile, sometimes people get banned for being extremely obnoxious to others and everyone tends to form little in-groups - just like in the "other" world. Same thing. So what is the time-frame? is there a clue about when its going to happen so I can avoid the forums at those times? I have noticed that several regulars have recently been away, but I thought it was the east coast weather. Maybe when a few regulars go away those of us remaining wonder and get nervous and start biting each other - just wonderin' I doubt anyone has an answer.
i cant say that i honestly have an answer, however i can say that i have met quite a few really awesome people like yourself and i have had my run ins with people whose comments i read wrong or took the wrong way. when the bombs burst no one really can tell.
i have only been a member for 3 days and i am the type of person to just dive right on in and see what's what with who. and i found within the first 12 hours there were cliques and then there were the loners, loners being basically people like me that are new, people that don't like drama, people that are willing to hear all sides of the story apposed to just one side or the other.
i really don't know anyone here but by far this tribe has been awesome for me to just kinda hang out and talk to other people.
that's really great, pinky, love to hear it! I'm glad you're here! that's the whole idea of the forums, really, self-expression and communication. It gets pretty dramatic smetimes, but it will all subside and life goes on - now I'm gonna go do something else for awhile, I've been way to involved here for a few hours! not getting anything else done! see ya later . . .
and to all the rest of you - if you dropped in to see what's being said here and have an opinion about it, please say it here - to our faces, instead of going into another thread and talking trash, ok? I'm not saying YOU do that, but if so, you know who you are! keepin' it light!
lol i need to do the same time ... have a good one and take care mega
This is why most of my time is spent here in the tribe. It is a calm relaxed place to just hang. If I'm having a bad day I can tell you guys and no one smashes pumpkins on my head.
Well, mega1, I dropped in here for a bit of light relief. To be honest, I was a little wary about doing so. I've been avoiding this thread for a long time, because I thought it was yet another clique, where I would get frozen out.
I find the forums paradoxical. People post on controversial topics, then get upset when they hit a backlash. The good old saying about heat and kitchens comes to mind. There seems to be a lot of self-obsession here, and jealousy when someone else gets all the attention. Then there is the great throwing of toys into the corner and walking out, all notified in minute detail. From observations during my limited time here though, a significant number of these people then return after some time away.
I know, I'm just a big cynic.
Nobody gets frozen out of the Tribe - it is way too warm here for any freezing - and we have this campfire going all the time! People are welcome no matter what they want to do. No one has ever gotten rude in the Tribe thread, as far as I know. Usually, they stay awhile actin a little shy and then get right into the spirit of the partying with food and smiles and drinkin and music and carrying on! Sometimes people vent a little about stuff going on in the "other" world with them personally, but I have never seen anyone get down on anybody and rant about stuff. We just are so cool! Right now I am missing HmrJmr and Denno and Beth and Tantrum and some others who haven't shown up here for a couple days. I really think the world out there is making people have to do other stuff, mainly. I myself am kinda nuts right now and unfortunately for all of you I use these forums as an outlet for my zany side that nobody in this "other" world sees, (because they wouldn't understand). I'm the only one here who has such a reeking sense of humor and no subject is off limits to me (except personal attacks). So stay, and get to know us and I encourage you to just be as honest and relaxed as possible. If Hmr was here he would offer you a slim jim, some cheetos, or a corona or other beer - real gourmet, huh!
yeah, i agree. plus, i don't particularly like how if you accidentally say the wrong thing to CERTAIN hubbers, you're automatically labeled as the bad guy. and how some are MORE equal than others, if you catch my drift.
I say what I feel, but I try to say it in a tactful and non-personal way, always trying to take a positive angle. Sometimes, though, I will avoid posting if it is obvious that there will be a negative reaction.
hows it going pinky? sorry, i disappeared earlier, I had to take care of something. im doing great by the way, thanks.
im doing great as well ...was just about to jump in the shower but i will be back
oh, and did I mention fantasy ? we do alot of fun fantasy imagination stuff that would be considered childish elsewhere - like being whoever our current avatars are - in the extreme! I have no idea who I'm supposed to be today - bald headed extremist chick with swirly tattoos, I guess. There was a beast in the picture with me, but it was too scarey!
its like beef jerkey or some kind of sausage i think ... it has a little bit of spice to it but i dont like it
sorry, im trying to do my best impersonation of macho man randy savage. lol.
It's dried beef with a bit of spice thrown in. does not taste like chicken
Glass of vino anyone?
Ummmm OK.
Bewildered Brit wanders off for a while with puzzled look.
Hey Steven read your review of the lovely bones. Not sure if I want to see it now that I read the book. There was so much hype and all and I really felt let down.
really? what didn't you like about it if you don't mind me asking?
@hmr.
hey whats up my big foot friend? long time no see.
got some chicken in the oven and making stuffing and green beans yall want some ?
Sounds good but all full up here just chillaxin with my vino!
It was extremely drawn out in parts where I think it could have been less focused on some things. I'm so trying not to give anything a way here. And the ending made me mad,
@Hmr good to see you, missed you.
Good, just bracing for the storm of the century, Heard y'all were supposed to get some of it too. R, you going to be shipping out or are these just extra training classes?
Welcome to the tribe Pinky wanna a Beer? Canned Cheese? Slim Jim?
Awesomeness! Well, know we are keeping the home fires burning for ya!
I think we lost WA she seems to have taken her vino and disappeared.
Sipping it slowly as I work. Have a book index that needs to be finished by next week. I always get the most scintillating topics (not!). This one's about irrigation.
Going to be disappearing soon though, it's 2.45am here.
Right now the weather guys are just saying rain but the also say there is the possibility of snow. If it does and it sticks to the roads I'm not going anywhere too dangerous this far south..
@lynn
oh i see. im sorry to hear that. although I never read the book, the movie was pretty good. plus, not to give anything away, but lets just say that there is such a thing as karma in the movie version.
@pinkylee
thanks pinky. your the best.
@hmr
doing great man. just working on a few hubs right now while talking to you guys. hey, you used to be a soldier right? have you ever seen "the hurt locker?"
Yep, I went to the store yesterday. I have plenty of supplies cause I will not get out on the roads with the fools around here. Half of em can't drive no how and add in a little rain or frozen percip and no thank ya.
@ Steven yeah it was karmatic but anticlimatic if you know what I mean. I will prob rent it when it comes out on DVD but won't rush out to see it on the big screen now.
Wow, what a long thread, and it seems like Slim Jims are the reoccurring theme, yum.
Welcome to the tribe Lad...
Wanna Beer? Canned Cheese, I see ya got a slim jim already...
Nice to meet you, Hm.
Yup, I'm from the rainy Rhondda.
Hope to see you all again soon, and thanks for the welcome
Welcome to the tribe Ben and Hokey!
@ Ben yes Hmr keeps a running supply of them and canned cheese.
@lynn
that's true. no argument there. lol. although I will say stanley tucci was great in it.
@hmrjmr1
that's cool. yeah, it's pretty good movie. very realistic too. i also found out that the director, kathryn bigelow is james cameron's ex wife, and they're competing with each other in the academy awards. isn't that something? lol.
Puts a log on the fire, Well folks gotta go have an early start tomorrow (I hope ) Take good care and be !!!
Good to see you John. Have a safe and great weekend!
@steven what is the must see that is coming out soon do you think?
see you later hmrjmr.
@lynne
well i think alice and wonderland should be coming out early next month.
Yeah I believe that one is going to be at the top of my list to see. I don't do the theater often there have only been a few, Halloween II by Rob Zombie, and Public Enemies were the last two. Everything else I wait for video.
that's pretty cool. oh yeah, i forgot scorsese has shutter island coming out that i want to see also.
I saw the book for that when I picked up The Lovely Bones. I may have to get the book and read it.
I'd really like to see filming of either Dark Shadows or Pirates IV start but production of The Tourist just started with Depp and Angelina so I'm sure the other two will be a ways off yet.
that's pretty cool. i forgot they were making a pirate 4. that should be pretty good. i thought depp was hilarious as jack sparrow.
DO get the book, Lynne-it's an amazing read. And Dark Shadows? A movie? OMG, with Jonathan? That would be a trip!

This is likely A LOT to "ask" but if you have a few minutes please take a look. I've been having fun here on Hubpages for nineteen months and have recently decided to take the productivity level more seriously. I've started designing my own website and intend to start writing more and...

I've just received word that I've qualified to receive some "assured long-term" benefits for disability - on an application process that took over 2 years and many individuals/professionals as advocates' assistance. This means that I can evade the constant worry of homelessness, so long...

I have two hubs up so far. I am not entirely sure what a great ranking would be considering that they are quite new, but they are both above 60. Is this pretty good for newly established hubs? I would appreciate any feedback on my work and what can be done to improve for the future, as well as...

Wrote a new hub this afternoon, just for fun. It is topical, relating to a new news item today. Would someone like to read it in it's entirety and comment, please? Pretty please? I don't usually do 'satire' if that is what it could be described as, should I leave it as it is, or go a bit further...
