I have been slacking in my writing and am using this to motivate me.
How will I accomplish this?
There are a couple of hubs that I started but they are not close to being published. Plus there are some older ones that may need editing. On good days, I can write 2-4k words. But I make it a daily habit to write 500 words a day.
I write pretty much in one or two genres and have many ideas of what to write about.
I am going to kick it off with a jump start of attempting to write7 articles in a week. I am also going to attempt to write 50k words in the first 30 days.
This 50 k may not be just writing on Hub Pages. I write on other sites as well.
Only high quality hubs will be published.
In up for night, so I will get a start on the first one. More a night owl than a day person.
Seven top quality articles in a week is rather ambitious. It's much better to focus on quality over quantity. Slow and steady wins the race.
120 hubs total, not an additional 120 hubs. Just to clear things up.
Well I have one hub done, but not published. For some reason I am unable to download some photos. Well will try later. I think that was the reason why, I had stopped writing for Hub Pages because of my computer. Will try later. If not, this challenge ends before it begins.
I figured it out. I had to use a different browser
My first hub is done. This is one that I started a while back.
https://hubpages.com/health/The-Health- … lower-Oils
I can see what people are saying because this one is over 3000 words. So depending on length of then, I might change my goal to a hub every few days.
Congratulations! I thought I had already weighed in and posted my comments. Thank you.
My other 3 hubs are up:
https://hubpages.com/health/The-Awesome … Gingerroot
https://hubpages.com/health/The-Health- … ne-Peppers
https://hubpages.com/health/The-Awesome … f-Cinnamon
I will only post links for the first week so I don't drown out the forums with links for the year.
Os far my word count is just over 9,000 words
Hello, Lois, 9000 words article? That is awesome. And, these most be old articles then? Because I think that at the moment Hubpages says you write 750 to1250 word stories? Good day!
Hi, Lois, okay, that is around 2,000 words per article? Thank you.
I have two articles that did go over 3,000 and the other two were closer to 1000. I don't know is H.P. has a max limit. I know for a hub to be featured, it would have to be at least 700/750 words.
Hi, Lois, presently, I have some articles over 1700 words that are featured. The number of words does not matter. The "write 758 to1250 words" from Hubpages is just a suggestion. Some of my stories are even up to 2800 words. Thank you for weighing in, and good day.
When I first started wring on this account I wrote this one hub that was after editing suggestions from the hub team, going to be almost 5000 words. I eventually broke it down into two hubs.
Yes, and good to know. So my hubs that are up to 6,000 becomes two. Thanks.
My final 3 for the 7 hub goal are below:
https://hubpages.com/health/The-Health- … nder-Seeds
https://hubpages.com/health/The-Health- … s-of-Basil
https://hubpages.com/health/The-Health- … of-Caraway
The word count for these 7 hubs is 13164 words.
I will continue writing to attempt to write 50,000 words in 30 days.
Hi, Lois, remember "Boys and girls come out to play, the moon doth shine as bright as day"? Put your health first. In all this, go for a walk, swim, picnic, as not to get off balance. Your health first, and wishing you the best. Thank you.
I more or less do what another person does. I write one day and do the editing on the next. On the first day I did get one hub published but had two that were written, but not published. So I got ahead of the game. Since that first day, I write 500 to 2000 words-depending on my schedule. I normally don't spend more than 2 hours writing and I don't always sit down in front of the computer. I carry a voice recorder and use that whenever something comes to mind. I also do some minor editing on my phone while waiting to see my doctor, dentist, mechanic or if I am at a super long line at the supermarket.
I also don't always write an hub or story from front to back. I sometimes write what I already personally know. Then I do the research and usually leave the introduction conclusion to the end. Plus since most of my hubs are related, it is easier. When I write, I am usually doing something else such as waiting for the laundry to get done or waiting until dinner is finished cooking.
My word count for this challenge is just over 37,000 words. So will be trying to reach 50K by the beginning of April.
It does help that some of these articles get automatically moved over. I check how the articles get edited and follow their lead.
Yup All new hubs are automatically considered so as long as you're in the right track they'd get edited and moved over.
I am just over 50,000 words and 1 more article to finish editing and posted later today or tomorrow. Then will ease up on writing. I go back to work towards the middle of June but will be on here and there to edit some older hubs. I have about 15 that are unpublished because the word counts are too low for them to be featured.
I'm off work due to a layoff (temporary) so will have time to work on them. Agree quality comes first. When I do challenges I tend to work better than I don't. After my last challenge over a year ago, I only put out 2 or 3 articles.
I've had, probably around 200, maybe more, articles which I've removed from Hubpages. I used to have this ridiculous idea that if I started a thing in the morning, that I should be done with it by the time I went to bed.
Well, the stuff wasn't very good. Nowadays I'm going to spend about two weeks thinking about every article. No not every minute of every day. It's best to let some time pass, for me, and that way I think of all sorts of things that should be said, and all sorts of things which should be left out of whatever article it is.
I'm only saying here that I've had much more success by taking my time.
Qualitative articles are what counts on HubPages. To do this needs a great deal of brainstorming, reading, research, and analytical thinking or insightfulness. And, since you will have more time in churning out 7 pieces, go ahead and good success.
However, remember this as @theraggededge "Slow and steady wins the race." Do not break down your health for your readers' sake.
I had to scrap an older hub I was working on. It was home remedies with Colloidal Silver. With one of the side effects where your skin can become a permanent blue from taking too much, I didn't want to be responsible if this happened to one of my readers
Me too. The standards are higher, but since we can see where our traffic comes from, I am deleting some articles too. It takes me a good week or so to write once I get a good idea, and even then I rewrite it. Then it has to be put in "hub" form, and we need good ideas for that to get others to read it.
Most of what I plan to write is in my field. After working nights, it takes me a few days to get back to a normal sleep pattern. I usually have a set time where I sit down to write and research. I usually do 3 to four hours at a time. It depends on how many distractions I have.
Hi, LoisRyan1965, all work, and no play make Jack a dull boy remember that? So strive for a balance. Working at night is not the same as in the day time. Your sleep clock is regularly disturbed. Take good care of your health first, and thank you.
Of course I have my time at the American Legion and am going to Indianapolis in August for the National Convention. So no writing during that time. Yes my pattern gets disturbed but my last day I try to stay up during the day. Its funny with my writing. On some days (most of my writing is done on my days off) I can write 2000 words and it goes very easy. On other days, I struggle with just 500 words and it seems like it takes all day. I do have Dragon Naturally speaking and that is a Godsend.
There's a lot of feedback saying quality is important and that is true. But, if you are off work, for now, one hub a day is definitely doable, especially if you work at it like 6 - 8 hours a day. Good luck! I'm a night owl too.
Totally agree. If I was working then it would be like 1 hub a week. Maybe two depending on length.
I was in a bad accident and was stuck in bed 24/7 back when I first joined this site in 2012. I would write a hub every day, then add images, edit and review the hub I had finished the day before, publish that, and then waste the rest of my day on the forums.
I think the real advantage of what you are doing is that you can find things that work. I have since deleted most of the hubs I wrote that first few months but a few did well and I have just edited them and left them on the site.
It is not for everyone, since when people write and publish too often there tends to be a lot of junk. It can work though. Good luck.
This had me chuckling: and then waste the rest of my day on the forums.
I can empathise with that.
Lois, will you be taking the time, effort, and energy to “search engine optimize” each article for Google? Hypothetically, you can write an article that is grammatically perfect, etc., but what if no one can find it on Google? Many of us know that while seo is not an exact science, it is a process that requires a delicate balance of keywords and keyword combinations. It also takes time as well as experimentation to learn what works well with Google and what does not. You must also take into account that it can take days for an edit on an article to be updated in Google’s index. I recently made one minor change for each of my articles on HobbyLark, and it took Google five calendar days to update all 22 articles in its index.
I also agree with what has been already stated above about quality vs. quantity.
That is relatable happens to me too. Well, goodluck on your goals.
Lois,
Gregory has an excellent point as do the rest of the Hubbers. Quality is critical as is SEO. What works for you works for you. My focus is on getting the writing done. The longer the runway, the less likely I take off and get the article done. I write for my website and other clients. I keep track of the weekly number of words published. I am working toward 10K a week. I am above 6K this week. My page views and income are rising as well.
In the past I have used 10 K as a goal. I would do my writing, 2k a day Monday-Friday. Then, if I fell behind on one of those days, I would have the weekend to fall on.
Thanks Kenna. As you can remember, we both covered seo a lot last week in another thread.
For me, while it would be nice to make some extra money, writing is an outlet for me to help with my PTSD.
I've found that writing a Hub a day (good quality ones) is rather difficult, given work and family life. But I think writing around 500 words a day is a worthy goal, indeed.
Hi, Larry, you are not alone. But keep it up. And, for three days, you will have 900 words. That's more than 750 hub pages accept as the minimum. You are welcomed and thank you.
After being able to sleep through the night, I have been getting up at 5 in the morning. It gives me quiet time away from distractions since my husband and daughter are still sleeping.
Hi, Lois, after connecting with my creator, I shot off to do to my regular morning stretching, exercise, and jogging workouts. That keeps me fit and healthy throughout the day. Thanks.
That's very nice. With exercise I need to work in that field.. Maybe shoveling snow counts.

When I first started at HubPages, I wrote several Hubs of around 800 to 900 words. Now the goals for creating quality Hubs include 1250 or more words of content. I've noticed that some Hubbers seem to be padding their Hubs with irrelevant or superfluous content to hit these goals, and I admit it...

I have a question about whether or not I should delete an article and re-write a whole new one with updated content and new images. The old article was published in 2013, has had one view in the last 30 days and has a total view count of 769. Also, it's not on a niche site.I want to delete the old...

So I've been on Medium for a year and Hubpages for six years (my second time). I've come to the conclusion that they can benefit each other.I have twice now earned quite a bit more on hubpages as a result of an article on Medium. A few days ago, I posted a link to one one of my hubpage articles,...

Hello,I'm new to Hub. First a compliment. After coming off another content site, and researching others for a long, long time, it's a Godsend to come to a place that demands lengthy, quality work. I value quality articles over quantity, but here's my kicker.I want some money. I know it takes...
