Hi everyone.  Just thought I'd throw this suggestion out there...

I've noticed that our Hubs have both a Pinterest and Facebook button for sharing, but nothing for Twitter (unless I'm just overlooking it somewhere haha).  Anyways, I think HugPages should really try and add a "Tweet Button" for sharing our articles.

I've recently started using Twitter more, and have had some success with getting additional traffic to my articles.  However, without a share button, it is relatively difficult to create "Twitter Cards" that individuals can click on from my feed.  A share button would help tremendously...  just my two cents smile

Yes, I agree with you. It would be nice if there was a tweet button.

Every added button adds time to our loading, therefore lowers our page rank with search engines. I do not know what you expect to see from Twitter, but unless you are a celebrity politician, the page views lost are not worth a button that almost no one will ever use.

@DrMark1961  I see your point. However, I must respectfully disagree.  Its no different than the Pinterest and Facebook share buttons that we already have.  And when utilized correctly, you can see good traffic from Twitter.  Medium.com provides this feature, and I've used it several times in the past with success.  Without a share button though, it is really difficult to create clickable links on Twitter that anyone is interested in.

Will Twitter provide thousands upon thousands of views per day?  Probably not (unless, like you said, you are extremely popular on there). Every view helps in some form or another though.  Plus, Twitter is just another opportunity to get your name out there (and to build a "brand" or image).

Assuming that a Tweet Button hurts search engine traffic though (due to loading time), there are other options as well.  Share buttons (for all of the social media sites) could simply be moved to the "Articles" tab under "My Account."   Having buttons on this screen (next to each of our Hubs) would allow quick and easy sharing of our articles without causing issues for loading times.

If you put the share button on the articles page of my account, the only person who would be able to use it is the OP. It is easy enough for the OP to copy and paste the link on twitter. (Not that I think it is worth it, however. I do realize a few views a day might be worth it for someone. It is never going to keep an article from being unfeatured-for-traffic, as social media views do not count, but it may help a very dead article.)

HP used to have a Tweet button. As the internet evolved, it became increasingly apparent the Tweet button was completely useless as to generating traffic.
