When non members look at my Delishably article

Other comments are shown, but there is no facility for them to comment.  What's going on and is it possible for them to comment?

We have griped to the enth degree about losing the capability to comment without going thru the back door, of which readers outside of HP don't have the capability.

We've been assured by HP management that the ability to comment directly on an article will be restored by June 2021.

      Hello,

Indeed, we are working on bringing comments back! We know how important this is for community engagement and visitor engagement. Thank you for your patience.

Tessa, are you our new Community Advocate? Samantha worked hard for us. We were saddened, and a bit trepidatious, when we learned she was leaving.

Just curious: your profile is generic. Is it possible to see the person behind "HubPages Staff"?

          Hello,

I understand your sadness regarding Sam's departure. We definitely appreciate all of Sam's dedication to the forums. Matt (moderation team manager) and I (editing team manager) will continue to monitor conversations here. It's also possible that you might meet more team members by way of our HubPages Staff account. (:

          Best,

          Tessa

Agree! And why were the comments disabled in the first place?

I believe it was because a new format was created for our articles. Someone with more understanding of the situation can correct me if I’m wrong, but I think the problem is that a major programming effort is needed to allow the new format to accept comments on the article instead of from the feed.

That would be nice if and when we can comment again. I am looking forward to that.

No, since the niche sites were all moved to the Maven formatting there is no longer the ability to comment unless the article is read immediately and before it makes a niche site.  Members may be able to catch the article on their feed and comment there, but for non-members it is impossible.
Staff have said that commenting will be restored to niche sites by the end of the second quarter.

Comments were disabled when HubPages moved to the Maven platform. There was an outburst of harrumphing from writers and HP said the comment function would be restored, probably some time in June.

Thaks, Jodah.  I find it very strange that there's a comment section, but people can't access it - it puts people off.

I miss commenting on posts. I have to make do with commenting on new articles visible from the feed instead.
