I was messing about with fonts and made this. I was trying to get a gold colour. There's a slight amount of drop shadow on the "M".
Maybe some branches? Not this branch but something more curved? I lightened the gray.
Yes, I like my gold though. It would go well with your light brown header.Ii'm looking for more branches. Some are only for free not commercial use. Can you colour that M?
Can I vote? I think this one is the best.(Simple and memorable.)
Yes, that's nice. Maybe try it live on the publication to see how it looks with the header colour.
Just had a look at it on Medium. I think that twirly bit on the M is a bit OTT. If it was me, I would just go for a similar script "M" without the heart bit. On laptop, unfortunately I can only barely makeout the flowers. I wonder how it would look with the light gray replaced with the same colour as the header? I think we need more opinions
I think this will go well with the color of the publication. What do you think?
Lol! 14 people, including us, are following this thread. But only we are discussing.
I don't think they wanted to interrupt the design marathon Apologies for generating so many email notifications.
No, I don't think so. Font too basic and like a Christmas ornament.
Hmm... Maybe this?
Have to go now! Maybe we can continue the design marathon tomorrow
Thank you so much, Eugene and Dr. Mark. I'm finally going to use this one, as Dr. Mark suggested.
Eugene deserves a special thanks for recommending that font website. I created the 'M' using that website.
Much Gratitude!
Have a great time and stay blessed!
Hi, I will also try to write on Medium after 3months.
Best of luck to all hubers.
Thank you so much, Mubeen. I would undoubtedly return the favor. Could you please tell me your username on Medium?
I don't think I understand your strategy or what your trying to do on Medium, so I've hesitated to comment.
If you want feedback, I would say that "A writer who wants to make her mark on this crazy world" is not good.
Readers want to know what you can do for them. They aren't usually very interested in the writer's aspirations.
If you're on a site like Medium, the assumption is that you're a writer, you don't need to tell the readers that.
How does this description of yourself relate to reviewing face mists? I don't get it.
I sincerely appreciate your honest feedback, Paul. I think you're right, I need to change the description. My problem is that I write on a wide range of topics, including personal essays, beauty, psychology, history, poetry, spirituality, recipes, and everything in between. I mentioned all that in the about section but I think I need to fix the description. Do you have any suggestions for a decent description?
I don't sorry. It's not clear to me what you're trying to do.
Why did you create a publication?
Who are you trying to target with it?
Are you planning to put everything you write in the pub, regardless of topic?
Yes, I want to include everything, regardless of topic.
Maybe this:
‘Misbah is obsessed with writing about anything that piques her interest. Some of the topics covered in this publication include personal writings, beauty, psychology, history, poetry, spirituality, and food.’
Maybe I can use this as a description, to keep things simple:
This publication covers a wide range of topics, including psychology, fashion, lifestyle, poetry, personal essays, food, and spirituality.
Aren't "face mists" part of the holistic lifestyle experience for women? Or maybe even us gentlemen? And I presume we're all trying to make a mark on the world through our writings. Well at least we may egotistically think that what we say is important.
+1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 infinite number of times ∞
As Paul suggests though, maybe some articles could be put into an additional publication if they're not totally "lifestyle" specific.
Maybe I can create another one for creative writing and poetry. Any suggestions?
One for creative stuff sounds like a good idea. I'm sure there would be a crossover though and some poetry would compliment the lifestyle topics if you keep it on that publication (To keep the punters entertained. Think of it as a variety show)
Eugene, thank you very much. I loved the term "variety show." It's a perfect fit.
The way that Medium works is that the algorithm is based around topic tags. The successful writers hammer the same few tags over and over again. They write about one subject, or at least stick to one subject area within which they can use the same handful of topic tags repeatedly.
If you don't rigidly stick to just one subject area (which I don't myself, as it's tedious), it's still good to restrict your topics to a minimum. There are a few successful writers that get away with a broader approach, such as Zulie Rane, and they write about more subjects, but most follow the singular approach.
That said, most topics just don't work for views and earnings, period. There's probably only around 20 subject areas where it's realistically possible for $100+ to be earned. Most topics will just earn you cents, or a few dollars at most.
It depends on what your goals are at the end of the day. If I'm going to spend time on something, I have to get views and earnings as I need the revenue. If you just want to have fun, or express yourself, and don't care about those things, then you have more freedom.
Actually, Paul, that's not true. People like Zulie Rane make money from people signing up through her link. When you have 230 people sign up on one piece, and they're all paying you $2.40 a piece, that tells you that it's as far as it goes. She hangs a hook, and she draws people in.
I write on many different topics. I earn, and I have earned. Yes, some topics earn more than others. I disagree with you about the algorithm. The algorirthm pays scant attention to me. You can see that now. I stopped writing a few weeks ago, and I'm down to about $3 per day.
When I was writing, I had a strong readership. When you have a strong readership, as soon as your articles are published, they read them. That's where my income comes from. They also donate.
There are many ways to earn on Medium. The bottom line is that if you want a site like Hubpages with passive income, those days are over. One is either going to adapt, or lose mroe and more income. Evergreen articles do not work on Medium.
I just posted my first piece on Medium if anyone's interested -- it's just an old Hub that had been unpublished for a couple of years, with some fresh tweaks. I wanted to at least have one thing on my profile while I figure out where to go from here.
I have a bunch of "how to" articles over there though I haven't published on it in a while as I've been able to earn more through teaching ESL. I'm just coming back to Hubpages and it's taking a bit of time to reacquaint myself with this platform. I'll reconnect with Medium next. My profile is under my name Natalie Frank. Let me know if I can help.
I followed you there now! Here's the link to my profile: https://misbahsheikhh.medium.com/
Also, here's an invitation; please feel free to join my publication on Medium whenever you reconnect; here's the link: https://thehubpublication.com
Hi Natalie,
Good to see you. I just followed you on Medium.
So, who is finding greater success on Medium that on HP or other platforms. A show of hands if you please. TIA.
Personally, I can't see putting forth the effort required on a gamble.
What kind of smack are we talking about on a monthly basis.
To give you a ballpark, I'd say I'm earning about 50 times more on Medium than I ever did on HubPages. Earnings can vary, hinging on interaction and content. Medium champions stories (preferably personal stories) over 'evergreen' articles. Took me a bit to grasp the nuances: HubPages is a content farm, while Medium feels more like a classy magazine. They're apples and oranges, really.
I get that, but what does that mean exactly. Tess said she was making $60K a month. Are you in that range?
Same question to Jodah.
What are we talking about and how many articles do you post a day/week or month.
No law against posting Medium earnings over here!
I won't lie. There's nothing like $60K a month; whoever says that "lies."
I mean, you can't make that sum of money anywhere online. My brother was a software engineer; he used to make a maximum of $ 8-10k/ month by selling his software to100s of people online. How can you think rambling online could give one such a profit?
$60,000 per month lol. Your question was who makes more on Medium than HubPages? Mediums’s CEO Tony may make that. I am continuing to write on HubPages as well as Medium as they both cater to different audiences… HubPages external, Medium internal.
Sorry!! I meant to say $60k annually. Which I still found a fantastic sum.
Still, it's a crazy amount of money, and impossible to earn not on just Medium but any writing platform
She said she was earning it via Kofi and Patreon. She had subscribers that gave her monthly income. At the end of each article she had a paragraph about her age and lack of income, "Please share a cup of coffee with me through Kofi etc..." More power to her, but she quit all that to write a book.
Personally, I am not able to do that hand-out request. Poor people got no money, but they got their pride.
I have a home & garden publication with around 30 articles. My aim was to persuade people to read articles on it, but so far no one visits it despite lots of promoting on social media. I get on average two reads per day on 146 articles. It's not a platform really for the sort of stuff I write about, but I thought the content might be a distraction from the more high brow stuff on Medium. I haven't given up yet. Meanwhile Medium lists me way down the list of publications for some reason.
Promoting on social media doesn't help; interaction with the community does
I have tried that. I'll try to find out from their support why I'm getting a bad ranking.
Smells like Bubblews to me. Only they get $50.00 from you and never have to pay you for your efforts.
I just like Medium's vibe better. The lack of crap tons of ads is refreshing.
I'm in the process of moving my articles there (sick of the editors here). But I wanted to mention that Medium is changing their partner program. As of August 1st you no longer have to have the 100 followers to participate but you do have to be a paid subscriber.
Also, you can find me there as @ melflaggcoa.
So I am still wondering what 50 x HP earnings actually means. What kind of money can be earned on Medium, if Tess's earnings are to good to be true. Inquiring minds want to know.
I'll say that after having not written anything in a year over here on HP (except what I posted this weekend) I am currently earning enough to cover the power bill (in Georgia in June), auto insurance, health insurance, cell phone and Internet.
That can mean many things to many people, but what I want to convey is that I am finding HP pretty helpful for the first time in a couple of years.
Edit: Of course I know that can change at any moment in time, and will.
HP can offer passive income and we can keep earning even though we are not currently writing here. Medium, on the other hand, requires you to keep writing regularly (at least two or three articles a week if not more) if you are to earn a steady amount.

It's not great for individual writers, as 100 followers is a reasonably high bar for beginners, but I guess they felt the need to improve the overall quality over there. I'm not totally surprised, to be honest. However, the new follower rule is a blunt instrument, it will put off some good writers,...

I left HP years ago and I have refused to write on here since. I won't even edit an article anymore. I had evergreen articles that were doing really well - now, after HP editors with no knowledge editing my articles again and again to the point now some of their information is wrong and...

In the past two days I've gained about 15 new followers. Since I've been here 2-1/2 years and previously have never had more than 100 followers, I'd like to think that all of a sudden I've been "discovered." But virtually all of the new followers have just joined HP a few minutes before...

I've been hovering around the 92 to 97 mark of followers for about 8 months now. I realize I haven't published a new hub in a while, been very busy offline and not been able to spend much time on Hubpages, no excuse I know. I'm back now, did you miss me? What, who's he? If it's appropriate, I...

How long did it take you to earn the 100 followers Accolade?

With the transition of moving niche articles to Discover, has anyone started a new article or edited an old one? I need clarification about what is happening with HubPages. I need help to focus on writing or editing my articles. Is anyone else experiencing this?
