I asked before, but when is it going to happen to pay for our services to readers?
People that make you laugh while you are stressed are your good friends
That holiday you took in Greece Eugene - expensive was it?
I want to go on a fact-finding mission to Tibet to study Lhasa Apsos in their native territory. Do you think HP will pay for it?
So...so you mean hubpages paid your travel fare, hotel expense, wine and woman, and all?
That is a really good idea and it should be instituted when readers are able to comment on our articles. (That should be put back in place right away.)
I saw some very brief and unhelpful comments back when we had the Q&A and cannot but think the promise of a tip, through the button you suggest, would make all of the HP writers a little more willing to give thorough answers.
Hmm, Pixabay has lots to choose from. I could add a link underneath as a caption and direct it to the PayPal website.
It's worth a try, even if I get my knuckles rapped. Things happen slowly here now, so I could have a button in place for a few weeks.
Eugene, I hope the readers find their way to that button. It'll be squeezed in between ads somewhere. I'm hoping that 1 in 200 people will notice and donate. Lol!!!
Medium just added one.
Honestly, it is so worth it. Most of my earnigns come from Patreon and Ko-fi. When people like your writing, they are very generous.
It looks like PayPal is an option, too. Is there any benefit to using KoFi instead of just having people send donations to PayPal?
Don't PayPal have a policy that donations should only be to charitable entities? Maybe tipping is a loophole to get around that.
I see people with PayPal buttons on their blogs and sites. I assumed it was fine but honestly I never thought much about it until now. You might be right.
Paypal takes off a deduction. Stripe does not. Or when it does, it is much less. However, on Hubpages, in all the years, they paid the fees to paypal, so if Hubpages puts on a button, then that might happen.
Right now, I'm curious about one thing.
I have a note under most of my articles asking people if they will support me either through Patreon or Ko-fi. Both of these take off a commission. What I'd like to know is if it comes through the Medium button, if a commission still comes off.
The other thing is that Ko-fi allows you to sell things, write, and many other things. So I am probably going to ask my Patreon supporters to switch to Ko-fi.
As much as we appreciate this enterprising idea, we can't allow these types of links. Please refrain from adding this to your articles.
Why not, because it's against PayPal's TOS?
Does "can't" mean it's technically not possible or it's against the site's ethos?
Can you implement a donate button yourself and maybe remove the site video or one of the ads to compensate?
Would it be worth trialling a button?
How about an established tipping site like ko-fi?
Lately, I was on a Windows' search. 'Bing'. It try offering me few 'token'. Is that relevant here? Thanks.
Can Hubpages add a tip jar or a donation button to our profile or at the end of our articles?
I've seen it other places.
It seems reasonable, especially when readers are getting free help. I've answered hundreds of questions on troubleshooting guides, often with lots of toing and froing over several days until the reader's problem was solved. I'm sure a reader wouldn't mind tossing the odd dollar into our caps. I'm not sure what the problem is. Maybe Hubpages think they would be asking too much of readers, wanting them to click on ads and also donate? The button button could be confined to some manifestation of what used to be the Q&A section of help articles, where if the reader feels they have been helped by the author and their questions answered, the button is only shown then, and they have the opportunity to make a donation. Alternatively, screw the donation button idea and replace it with premium help where readers have to pay to get their problems solved (Like the Fixya model over 10 years ago)
Why doesn't Hubpages just pay us for making them money???
The share we deserve.
Then we don't need a donation button.
Not a bad idea using a donate button from Pixabay with a link to a PayPal account, Eugene. I would need one like “Help a Starving Poet. Donations Appreciated.”
I notice on desktop, clicking on images no longer does anything. when did that change? It used to expand the image.
Roger that. However, hubpages must of necessity compesate the many season writers here in ways other than key chains/holders, or tea/coffee mugs. Writers here are being impoverished.
It's very convenient that a 'tip button' or 'donation' button or bin on behave of any helpful writters is not 'asking too much', provide it's voluntary. A reader that feel satisfied is free on his or her own volition to tip or donate. They're no obligation. It's hubpages that should set up the button not the writter. That will prevent scams.
I freelance through Fiverr and they have facilitated that buyers can easily leave tips, many other sites are the same. It would ease the pressure on HubPages in regard to the amount/percentage they pay us as well. I agree with DrMark that it should be instituted at the same time as comments are properly reintroduced…and that should be NOW!
The big appeal of HubPages for me is that I can just focus on writing articles and earn via the ad revenue.
I have no desire to operate any sort of helpdesk operation.
Earning through voluntary donations is not a direction that I would like to see the site go in.
I presume HP doesn't object to donations on our social media posts linking to HP articles? That's our business in any case.
I see Medium are beta testing a donation "Give a tip" button, it links out to the Buymeacoffee.com website. Maybe only selected authors can use it?
Here is the information on that:

I see even Medium is trialing introducing a donations/tipping button. So why can’t HubPages?

I received a suggestion from a reader who wrote to me today, it reads:-' I would like to make the suggestion that you add a "donate" option to your tutorials. I would like to do more than just offer my thanks! I don't mind admitting that when I joined HubPages I joined because I needed to...

Dear guys! Hope you are doing well! I have a question, please let me know if all images on Pinterest are royalty-free or how do i know which ones are free to use.

Ok...right off the top I am sure this is an impossible idea...but anyway here goes. What if Hubpages put a DONATE button on our Hubs so that if someone donated through PAYPAL then HUBPAGES would get the donation right away, and then they would put 60% of the donation into the author's Paypal account...

Hi, everyone! My article "7 Facts About Japan That Aren't Actually True" has got quite a lot of views already and traffic will likely increase if it gets moved to a niche site. Shortly after publishing it, I got an email saying that it was eligible for WanderWisdom if:Title/Subtitle...

I'm new to Hubpages. I have published my article by improving many times. But all the time only one message from the reviewer 'Spammy Content'. I have checked all, there are not things like;1. Promotional links,2. Repetitive keyword,3. Amazon products link,4. Promoting other websites and many...
