Ravi has written a beautiful, thoughtful treatise on theories of the origin of the star that led the Magi to the birthplace of Jesus. https://discover.hubpages.com/education … -Bethlehem

Ravi has created another interesting article. It’s intriguing to explore the possible causes of the star’s appearance by reading his article. I think the most likely explanation is that the appearance was either caused by a natural event or the star is a spiritual metaphor. Thank you for sharing the article, Linda.

Thank you for sharing Ravi's article, Linda. He does present the theories in a neutral manner. Most of the theories I've read have been pro conjunction, and that's what I've found credible. However, during that period of time, there were a lot of astronomers and astrologers around and their credibility might might been in question. I say "might have" because at that time Christianity had not not become of age. That was over 300 years later. I'm not sure what he means by a "spiritual metaphor". Would this mean a figment of Matthew's imagination?

Thanks Doris.A spiritual metaphor might refer to what we call nowadays as a "shining star" - a person who is a beacon of hope for others to get inspired from.In this case it was Jesus .
