HP HQ aren't fond of copious amounts of links to hubs or other sites (a rule set in place to discourage well meaning and other types of spammers).
But if you were responding to someones question and a hub has the answer (if it's something that can't be adequately explained in a paragraph), then it's never been a problem to do so.
I thought if it is an HP URL you could add as many as you feel is suitable? In one of my hubs I have like 6 or 7 links to other hubbers with no problem?
I've seen hubs that have hundreds of links to other hubs, some to entire categories.
Linking to other hubs is permissible and when I do it I contact the hubber and let them know in case they have any objections, but why would they?
Of course.
If someone bothers you, just tell them I gave you permission.
hehehe
Thanks for your responses I will give it a go and see what happens, lol.
Ya, giv-it-a-go! You can post as many links as you like to as many of my hubs as you like!
(Just kidding!)
I think it is not possible to link your hub to others hub. Only the hub writer can link others hubs to his or her hub.
Hence, you can link other hubs to your hub.
Thanks,
Jyoti Kothari
Sorry I meant in the forums, but I didn't make it clear sorry!
I understood..even checked your post history to see the much acclaimed hub!
Last time I posted a hubbers link I was banned for three days.. I guess it depends on what mood the HP team are in
Susana:
What can they do to you?
I'd do it just to test 'em....:-)
Well I'm sure you know what it's like - sometimes you see a hub from a new hubber and you want to share it with everyone! That's how I felt anyway
So I know we can't promote ourselves on the forums, but what about others? I guess they do it in the recommend another hubbers hub ....
I post a link to useful, helpful hubs all the time (including yours btw!)...but so far haven't been banned! I guess, it all depends on how appropriate the link is to the discussion.
As far as I know ya can only do it on yer profile which I do, I don't think it's allowed on the forums.
Ok, so i can't just start a thread saying read this hub! But if it answered a question then it might be appropriate. Ok thanks, got it
If I like a hub I post it to my Twitter account which I am sure no one would mind. I hope!
Confusing post, as the forums don't usually seem to have any problem with you posting a link to another Hubber's hub, just not your own. Heck, what about the ongoing forum thread that asks you to "Recommend another Hubber's Hub"!
As for links on your personal hubs to other Hubber's hubs, well these are totally permissible and earn you money:
Quote from Help Section
"Traffic Referral Program: If you send traffic to any Hub, you’re entitled to either 9% or 12% of total impressions. You’ll receive 9% if the Hub you’ve referred people to already has impressions allocated to an Affiliate. If there are no Affiliates, you’ll receive 12% of the total impressions."
Hope this all helps.
I think it depends on the link, you could post it in the recommend another hubbers hub page, I think that has dispensation from the rules!
put a video that has I think three or four cuss words, a comedian
yes..take for example there is already a thread started and going strong, you cant promote your link but you promote the link of the person who posted a link above them..so your links as well as others get posted
@authur - yes I do that too
Misty - my initial question was not clear at all. I wanted to know if I could start a thread promoting a newbies hub (not for any personal benefit). I think going on what Darkside said, the answer is probably no.
Quark - put me in stocks? lol
That sounds fab Quark....only one problem.......I'm in the UK
Susanna, I had a question, and I think I worded it wrong as it looks like an answer. I tried to delete it now and can't Duh! Me!
Here's the Q: I posted a comedy bit on one of my hubs it has three or four cuss words, so I put in parentesis some profanity. I will remove it if I have to, do you think that is ok?
someone suggested and "adult's only" tag - and maybe that is one way to get around it, although I am not sure whether profanity gets censored in hubs the way it does on forums - with ** like when you write shit or fuck! I don't use profanity in my hubs mainly because I haven't thought of it, or maybe I do! I can't remember shit this morning!
sure you can - in fact, see Cagsil and Lyricsingray's popularity hubs - some of this site is all about popularity contests! just kidding!
I do the same things sometimes - that's why I have the rep of a needy attention seeker here in the forums - but it is just my compulsive nature and it helps not to care too much what these other hubbers think of you!
Well I made a hub, maybe they will find, maybe no, about how I feel about them and being a part of such a great writer's place. I am afraid that some may be intimidated about how many hubs I get up, but I have been in love with writing my whole life, and am not working now.

Whether I agree with HP's new policies or not, I respect the site's right to set their own rules. However, I think one of the reasons Hubbers are getting upset isthey're getting warnings based on rules they don't know existExamples:1. I have "overly promotional" warnings on several...

You are only as fast as your slowest component... errr whatever the quote is. Well, it's not entirely true... I STILL will profit off of my best performing hub even though I have those poor performing ones, but I decided to create this post as a way to well, make those poor performing ones...

Hey Hubberville,I know there are plenty of people working on Hubtrail Hubs and I would like to post this thread, so as to get your attention.I, myself am working on the Capstone Hub for Americas and requesting a link from every person who writes a Capstone Hub for North America(all State Hubs...

I started using this blogging link to send my own hubs out of the hub nest. Soon, as I was going to make comments for my friends list I ended up reading other good hubs and decided to share theirs on my blogs too. Then the blog idea started evolving to help promote more reads and...

Someone recently stated that there are limits to how much you can link to your own hubs. Does anybody know the limitations?

While I'm being a policeman, I can't help noticing that there's a lot of self-promotion that goes on in the forums. Especially the "other topics" forums, where quite often you'll find posts with not much more than the link to the person's Hub.Surely the forums are places to discuss...
