    There was a major power outage at our primary data center around noon pacific time today.  It affected the entire facility, not just HubPages.  We are working on getting the site back up and operating normally, but I'd advise against using the hub editor or composing any long comments or forum posts for the next several hours at least.  Thanks for your patience.

      I figured something big was going on throughout your mid-day. So I did a search on news sites to see if an earthquake hit, which it didn't.

      Whatever it is, you will fix it.

        Was it a private jet crashing in East Palo Alto.. yesterday whole day p;ower was off there!!

            that is really sad and I just heard soem guy crashed his private jet in IRS building.

      Oh that's a relief in a way, I thought I was suddenly cut out of the site with a banned ip address or something....lol!

      Hope the problem gets ironed out and cheers Paul for letting us know...probably why my bookmark of hubpages wouldn't work!!

        oh, me too!  I mean I was going back through all the stupid things I'd said on the forums in the past few days, wondering if any were stupid enuf to have gotten me banned!  lol  guilt complex.

        either that, or I thought it could have been that someone sabotaged the place - some terrorist or something.

        guilt and paranoia - the main motivating forces for so many!

        Anyway, I was panicky without my HP~!

    Thanks for the update Paul. Ignore my email. I wasn't online earlier today and when I did try to enter Hubpages I couldn't. I could not even access the site or hubs from  my browser. Now I understand why.

        Yes it is a nice touch, I don't know of any other site that would let you know that something gone wrong, I think Hubpages are brilliant for lettting everyone know what happening

        It WAS a nice touch.  With good advice here in the Forums, which I naturally ignored.  Must have been rooting around in the hub editor after the worst of it, though--at least tonight's hub seems to have published okay, as did several not-so-short commets.

        Whew!  lol

    Well that probably means I better wait till things are fixed before publishing new hubs ready and waiting. I tried a few hours ago and it all went besirk. Now there hangs an unpublished undated hub in my stats which I can't even delete.

    The topic Home & Family - gardening is not working.  Other topics are working fine.  Of course I notice this because I published a new hub on gardening right before the power outage.  <sigh>

    For the most part everything should be back to normal.  If you were in the process of editing something right around when the power was cut, some data from those edits may have been lost. If you notice anything unusual please let us know, so that we can investigate.  There may still be some minor lingering problems related to data inconsistency that could affect individual pages on the site.  Thanks!

      a very recently cached hub shows no summary in google it shows something along the lines of "sunforged httptheurl 94 " etc.
