Up till October last year I used to reach payout about every two months. Was fine by me.
Today, I noticed my earnings for the first two weeks of 2025: a whole $ 0,90
If I'm lucky I may reach $ 2,00 by the end of the month. That means I will reach payout in about 25 months. WOW.
Titia, your experience is now common to every writer here. Don't you ever come across such like-mind discussions in the forums?
Yes, people have been talking about little else for the past three years.
Writing here used to be a part-time job for me and it lasted for around a dozen years. Nowadays, I'm not even sure if it's even worth publishing here as a hobby. The views and earnings are in the toilet and have been for some time.
I used to be an optimist regarding the site always bouncing back but not anymore.
They was one writer here (that old seasoned or sea dog) from Canada. He said (in such like discussions, that his earning is now worth only for 'a cup of coffee'. And he still writes here at hubpages. As for me, I've not write an article, or peom for two years. Why should I crack my brain for such little to nothing venture? Everyone should decide for themselves.
It's tough right now and doesn't appear to be getting any better.
Really WOW! I have not reached the minimum for over 5 months now. No more motivation to write here on HP.
Most of my guides on Discover no longer rank in search results. If that's the case would there even be any point creating a website to publish stuff on?
Are you thinking about creating a website for your stuff at hubpages? Great!
It’s been discussed extensively in the forums for years, I don’t think there’s much to add.
Mike, there are many factors. I am sure you are aware of some.
The rot seemed to start as soon as HubPages changed the article format from its lovely clean look to the ugly ad-ridden Maven layout.
'Man know thyself'. Someone will like to point at changes or updates by either Google or HubPages. The thing is that hubpages is sick.
My next question is what can be done to change things and why are they not being done?
Let me quest: (1). Restored Samartha Cubison to her editorial post? (2) Hubpages bring back the comment system buttton. These two things are the major factor that degenerated the site.
Miebekagh what do you mean? Who is Apollonius?
Apollonius, is a supertitious Jew. Ask him.
I still don't get it. Is he alive? How do you know about him?
He's a historical figure, philosopher, who died about AD98.
So what is the point you are making by bringing up his name? No one knows what you meant.
I think both eugbug and PattyInglish got it? Actually, the existence of Apollonius in Jewish context or history, has the effect to believe or not to believe. If he really exists or not, and you ask him a question, could you believe him? Agreed that he is an historical fingure?
OK, but you haven't explained what it has to do with a failing online writing platform. We don't know who you were addressing or what question you were referring to. Hence people's confusion.
Bev, who here believe 'payout' (which is the quetion) of the thread will rise in a month or two? Fie, fie! That explains that if you ask that 'historical fingure' we called Apollonius/Apollonous/Apollo-the spelling varied. One couldn't get a direct answer. Some say he was Paul, the Apostle, or like him. Rupert, like Patty, got a point too. Bev, if payout will rise in a mmth or so, the comment button will come along? Thank you.
If only we could have 'got it' from your cryptic first post
Doesn't help that it seems no such person actually lived. I googled him as well and was left puzzled - it's not a Jewish name.
Yes, Apollonous, Apollonius, Apollo, and Apollos are not Jewish names. But Saul, of Tarsus, which legend said is probably Apollos (...) is a Jew. Likewise, Jesus, who some claimed to be the hitorical fingure is a Jew. Thanks for the time travel anyway. The hiden truth is that the character really exists. But legend seems to eroded his reality! Many or few here wil realized I'm trying to bring in a latin phrase into Englsh:. 'Credat Judaeus Appella non ego' meaning 'let the religioous jew believe..
I did Latin at school but I used a translator anyway... the closest translation to the phrase above is:
"Let the Jew believe that I am not the one calling him."
Notice there is the negative 'non' in your phrase as well as 'ego': "I am".
I'm pretty sure that 'appella', as the main verb, should be at the end.
Smart? I've noted (not here, but in another thread) you did latin at school. But a translator is not necessary.
Agree Bev the original comment was basically nonsensical, and even looked offensive on the surface, since we were talking about money and his comment went straight to "the Jew." I guess the comment came from an assumption that everyone on this world-wide platform would know what he was talking about LOL.
What we have here is a failure of precision.
Apollonous, the Jew doesn't seem to exist and the general opinion seems to be that Miebakagh57 means Apollonius.
But, which one? There are several:
Apollonius of Tyana was an ancient Greek philosopher of the first century CE.
Apollonius of Rhodes was a Greek poet of four centuries earlier.
Apollonius of Perga (240 BCE– 190 BCE) was an astronomer and creator of a theorem that takes his name.
Apollonius Molon was a Greek rhetorician just before the millennium. But he wrote a lot of anti-Semitic tracts.
One of my neighbours has a budgie called Apollonius.
As far as I can tell, none of these folk followed the Jewish faith, but I can't be sure about the budgie bird.
It is what it is. But can the budgie say "Apollonius"?
I did the same as Rupert and Googled. When I couldn't find a coherent answer to the quandary, I gave up.
I'm guessing that Apollonous the Jewish budgie is a more well-known figure in Nigeria.
No. But thanks for the time travel. I'm used to introduced the idea in a puzzling scene.
Like others, I struggled to understand Miebakagh57's point. However, I hope he doesn't feel picked on.
I always appreciate his participation, he's a likable and intelligent guy.
There's a weird atmosphere here at HP nowadays. In some ways, it doesn't surprise me that we're drifting into a surreal world of Jewish budgerigars.
Paul, we've always had surreal posts. It's just more noticeable because there are fewer writers and less overall participation.
I think there's not much that can be said about writing and earning at HP, which was what the forum was originally about.
I know, Titia. It's so discouraging. I haven't written here in so long, there's no incentive. The pay we get here has always been small and it really didn't matter much. But when you're only getting pennies, it grates at the soul and makes you question your value to the site.
Writers have made many suggestions and requests to no avail. It is sad.
True. However, I occasionally have ideas. And think about asking, but what's the point? The place is a ghost town.

It's disheartening to work so hard only to see your earnings drop to lowest than they've been in a long time. For the past two days, they've been about half what I was earning daily in 2017 and even lower than they were in January! Has this happened to anyone else and will it pick up soon?

How much, on average, do you earn per hub, per month on Hubpages?
by olvus 13 years ago
After 3 months of active work my earnings through Amazon was only 3.70$. Although the conversion was 20% - 13 sales, with 64 clicks (goods is very cheap - the cost of 1, 99$).Me interests, whether there are people who earn here by means of Amazon (at least 100 dollars a month)?

I have still not seen even .01 from HubPages. I have 18 hubs and have been on the site for over 6 weeks now. Do the articles take awhile to start earning money? I am just curious what other hubbers results have been (typically). Thanks!

Can I?I have a couple of smaller accounts. As Amazon currently operates, my earnings go into one pot. From what I can understand, that won't happen once HP take over my Amazon. Or am I wrong? If I'm not, why not? I am going to lose out as it is, and I can't see the separation of my HP accounts being...

Basically, I mean that us hubbers put countless hours of work into writing one quality hub after another which in turn increases hubpages revenue, which allows them to enjoy the fruits of its writers dedication and labor. I know writing on hubpages is presented to us like hubpages is doing all us...
