Up till October last year I used to reach payout about every two months. Was fine by me.
Today, I noticed my earnings for the first two weeks of 2025: a whole $ 0,90
If I'm lucky I may reach $ 2,00 by the end of the month. That means I will reach payout in about 25 months. WOW.

Titia, your experience is now common to every writer here.                                   Don't you ever come across such like-mind discussions in the forums?

Yes, people have been talking about little else for the past three years.

Writing here used to be a part-time job for me and it lasted for around a dozen years. Nowadays, I'm not even sure if it's even worth publishing here as a hobby. The views and earnings are in the toilet and have been for some time.

I used to be an optimist regarding the site always bouncing back but not anymore.

They was one writer here (that old seasoned or sea dog) from Canada. He said (in such like discussions, that his earning is now worth only for 'a cup of coffee'.                                     And he still writes here at hubpages.                                         As for me, I've not write an article, or peom for two years. Why should I crack my brain for such little to nothing venture?                        Everyone should decide for themselves.

Most of my guides on Discover no longer rank in search results. If that's the case would there even be any point creating a website to publish stuff on?

Are you thinking about creating a website for your stuff at hubpages? Great!

eugbugposted 4 weeks agoin reply to this

Not really. I had a DIY blog and no one visited it. I'm not sure whether a website would do any better. It takes years for people to add backlinks to a site and then Google to rank it so pages turn up up at the top of search results.

It’s been discussed extensively in the forums for years, I don’t think there’s much to add.

The rot seemed to start as soon as HubPages changed the article format from its lovely clean look to the ugly ad-ridden Maven layout.

Let me quest: (1). Restored Samartha Cubison to her editorial post? (2) Hubpages bring back the comment system buttton.                                          These two things are the major factor that degenerated the site.

I think both eugbug and PattyInglish got it?                                                        Actually, the existence of Apollonius in Jewish context or history, has the effect to believe or not to believe. If he really exists or not, and you ask him a question, could you believe him? Agreed that he is an historical fingure?

OK, but you haven't explained what it has to do with a failing online writing platform. We don't know who you were addressing or what question you were referring to. Hence people's confusion.

What we have here is a failure of precision.

Apollonous, the Jew doesn't seem to exist and the general opinion seems to be that Miebakagh57 means Apollonius.

But, which one? There are several:

Apollonius of Tyana was an ancient Greek philosopher of the first century CE.
Apollonius of Rhodes was a Greek poet of four centuries earlier.
Apollonius of Perga (240 BCE– 190 BCE) was an astronomer and creator of a theorem that takes his name.
Apollonius Molon was a Greek rhetorician just before the millennium. But he wrote a lot of anti-Semitic tracts.
One of my neighbours has a budgie called Apollonius.

As far as I can tell, none of these folk followed the Jewish faith, but I can't be sure about the budgie bird.

    1. Kenna McHugh profile image91
Kenna McHughposted 3 weeks agoin reply to this

It is what it is. But can the budgie say "Apollonius"?

I did the same as Rupert and Googled. When I couldn't find a coherent answer to the quandary, I gave up.

I'm guessing that Apollonous the Jewish budgie is a more well-known figure in Nigeria.

Like others, I struggled to understand Miebakagh57's point. However, I hope he doesn't feel picked on.

I always appreciate his participation, he's a likable and intelligent guy.

There's a weird atmosphere here at HP nowadays. In some ways, it doesn't surprise me that we're drifting into a surreal world of Jewish budgerigars.

Paul, we've always had surreal posts. It's just more noticeable because there are fewer writers and less overall participation.

I know, Titia. It's so discouraging. I haven't written here in so long, there's no incentive. The pay we get here has always been small and it really didn't matter much. But when you're only getting pennies, it grates at the soul and makes you question your value to the site.
