Hey everyone,
Week 2 of the contest is over, and with yesterday's batch of cooking implement Hubs behind us, we round out the week on culinary techniques and methods. We had 39 Hubs submitted, and 3 bonus entries were granted to KCC Big Country for her correct guess of dum pukht in yesterday's Daily Puzzle, so 42 total Daily Drawing entries.
The winner? A first for this contest.
KCC Big Country!
Not for a Hub, but for her Daily Puzzle guess!
Congratulations, KCC!
And now that we've started week 3, we're on to Recipes, sure to be a popular topic all week long. We started today, about 20 minutes ago, with Breakfast Recipes.
Looking forward to a piping hot batch of recipe Hubs in the coming days.
Just a reminder, everyone, that it's time to vote for the People's Choice winner. The 10 candidates are ready for your perusal on the contest page. Check them out before Thursday at noon, and vote for your favorite! The winner wins $100.
Wooo hooo.....that's exciting! Shows it pays to play the puzzle games as well! How cool to be the first for it to work out that way.
Congrats KCC! Holle (habee) can't access HP for some reason and I just informed her of your win! She is happy for you too! She is unable to log in on Hubpages and has emailed staff for help but hasn't heard anything from them as of the last few minutes.
She can't publish her entries for the contest and is getting worried. Perhaps someone from staff will see this post and help ease her mind. Sorry to interrupt this thread, but I told her I would try to help. Thanks everyone!
I've been trying to understand exactly why habee's been having difficulties logging on. She and I have been in communication, even though I'm not the right person (not a tech person).
congrats..i have a concern..my score on my latest hubbalicious hub hasn't changed since posting it yesterday...this has never happened before...am i missing something?
No. Your HubScore for an individual Hub can change - or not change - from day to day.
I'm back! Finally got Firefox to let me access HP! I thought for a while I had been banned from the site!!
Welcome back habee
Same thing happened to me,ie not being able to Sign in etc..I ended up being advised by auto thingy by Hupages to changemy password etc, still the door wouldnt budge?
In the end it was through trying to download another programme that the site suggested that maybe y cookies were not enabled and set out steps to rectify that.
( Involved resetting security thing , to medium, I must have had it on very low (or something) or it was automatically set after a format- who knows ( insert rolled eyes here) lol
Vola!! ! cookie monster was fed , and the magic door opened.
The first day of Recipe submissions brought in a bumper crop of great Hubs: 84 in total. Along with Twenty One Days's 3 bonus entries for winning yesterday's Daily Puzzle, we had 87 entries going into the Daily Drawing.
The winner?
melbel!

Belated congratulations to Pretty Maita and Mr Om I love fish and noodles because they're easy to cook, almost fat-free, and light but satisfying. Thank you for sharing
Congrats, Mabuhay ka kabayan! Salamat (Thanks!)
I am so glad that I won on one of the days because it really has given some of my other hubs more exposure. I also got a few more followers and comments on my other material which always gives me warm fuzzies! Thanks for the great contest, this is really a lot of fun. It would be nice to see more contests such as this one.
Congrats to all of the winning writers! Your hubs are great and I look forward to reading more from all of you!
Congratulations Maita and Om on winning the big prizes, and to Ben as well for winning the daily draw
Oops! For some reason, I thought Ben was Om, so congrats to you, too, Om!

Belated congrats to you, oceansnsunsets! I love peaches though I always eat them fresh. I think I'll try your cobbler recipe next summer. Thank you for hubbing about it
To Uninvited Writer, Izzy and Habee, thank you so much, I am so excited!
Day 19's submissions on beverage recipes numbered 45, and with alexandriaruthk's 3 bonus entries via yesterday's Daily Puzzle, we had 48 entries going into the Daily Drawing for the day.

Here is his winning entry:
http://hubpages.com/hub/Blueberry-Shake-Shake-Shake
We now head into Day 20's contest, another recipe-focused day, Quick & Easy Recipes. You'll have over 23 hours and 35 minutes to get your submissions in.
Good luck!
As of this posting, I have not seen the correct answer for the Daily Puzzle from among the first guesses of participants yet...you might want to have your hand at guessing if you haven't already!
http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/46192
Day 20's submissions included a terrific 92 Hubs on quick and easy recipes. Along with Angela Harris's 3 bonus entries, we had a total of 95 entries going into today's Daily Drawing.

Wow, you are getting lucky too Phoenix! Way to go
Hey everyone,
The final recipe day closed about a half-hour ago, and we had 51 submissions on vegetarian/vegan recipes. Along with Gordon's 3 bonus entries via the Daily Puzzle, we had 54 entries going into the Daily Drawing for today.
The winner? A second time for...
Angela Harris!
Here is her winning Hub:
http://hubpages.com/hub/Garbanzo-Bean-Salad-Recipe
Congratulations, Angela.
Today we start our final week of the contest, on world cuisines (broadly) and on Central Asian (think Afghan, Persian, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Mongolian, etc.) and South Asian (think Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, etc.) cuisines. Looking forward to your submissions!
A reminder to vote for your favorite among the 10 finalists for this week's People's Choice award. You can take a look at all 10 on the contest page.
As usual, it was difficult for us to come up with only 10 finalists, but I'm sure you'll agree that all are excellent.
Good luck, finalists!
Jason at the beginning of one of the contest threads I asked which Regional Section we could enter NZ and Australian food hubs in?
(per the regional boundaries decided on here)
Could you please advise which section so that I can write NZ food hubs in the relative regional section.
Cheers.
Pearldiver: Australia and NZ (like the US, Canada, etc) are hybrid cultures. So, depending on the cuisines you want to highlight, I would either suggest:
- Western European (if you want to highlight NZ's British heritage)
- Southeast Asian (if you want to highlight NZ's Maori/Polynesian heritage)
- Fusion (if you want to talk about the new cuisine which is a blend of indigenous and British cuisines)
So it could fit into any one of these categories depending on your focus.
What category can one post their emu and kangaroo recipes?
Southeast Asian? But this week should focus on the cuisines as a whole, not recipes (that was last week). That can certainly include a recipe or two to round out the subject, but the treatment should be more comprehensive.
Interesting question DS... Great Keywords too
"How to Avoid Having Your Kangaroo Soup Jump Out Of Your Plate While Plucking Your Emu!"
Thank you Jason - your suggestions create great possibilities.
Day 22, the first day of the contest week dedicated to world cuisines, has ended, with just 16 (16?!) entries. Mind you, at first glance they look excellent, but this was a slower day. With habee's 3 bonus entries for yesterday's Daily Puzzle, we had only 19 entries going into today's Daily Drawing.
The winner? Perhaps unsurprisingly...
habee!
Habee's Daily Puzzle win was her key to winning today:
http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/46378
Congratulations, habee.
Today, world cuisines focuses on Europe, although there are several categories, so choose appropriately. I'd imagine with Italian, Greek, French, and plenty other delicious cuisines to choose from, the Hub bounty should be forthcoming.
Happy Hubbing!
Don't forget to vote for your favorite finalist in this week's People's Choice Award! Vote here before tomorrow!
Belated congratulations, Ms. Habee! I fell in love with the Gullah hub when I saw those luscious ripe tomatoes Mmm! For my tongue, they're perfect for anything fried. Good for the skin!
Been busy here, didn't have a chance to congratulate you Habee, way to go!
For Day 23, we had 51 entries (with an additional three from charanjeet kaur's brilliant thinking on yesterday's Daily Puzzle question) and found oceansnsunsets to be the Daily Drawing Winner, with a fresh recipe on Strawberry Kiwi Spinach Salad.
Congratulations!!
As it happens, we also have the results for Week 3's People's Choice and Best Hub contests-
Peggy W won the Best Hub distinction with Old Timey Sweet Recipes from the Past, while queen cleopatra won the People's Choice award with Delicious Rice Cake Recipes for Snack. Each wins $100 - spend it wisely (ON FOOOOD!!!!)
Hi Simone, thanks so much, though I am a little confused.
I did do five hubs on the European cuisines that were due today. That salad was for another day. I was thinking the maybe the link was put in wrong, on the contest page. I have not received an email to respond to, so not sure what to do.
Yesterday's cuisine pulled in about 16 entries, and 51 sounds like a lot for today. I will wait for an email, to see if the link was just wrong and need to be corrected, and the correct hub put in? Just let me know if I need to do anything. Thank you, Ocean
LOL!!
I totally messed up!! Yeah... sorry about that. Keep the prize- it's our mistake. And I'm running the contest again the correct way!!
Hahaa ^_^;;
You can bet on it, Simone The prize I received with the People's Choice award had gone to very, very good use -- education. Thank you so much for this exhilarating, sometimes frustrating, Hubbalicious contest! I love HubPages!
for European Cuisine? So it is okay to add recipes to a specific region -obviously including ethnic details, etc? Thanks.
Congrats:
Peggy W, loved those olden photos;
Queen Cleopatra, amazing -have never seen that many rices.
Sorry - we had a bit of a mixup in our reports on our end. That was an entry for Day 21 (ironic, huh, Twenty One Days?).
Thank you for catching that! We are reprocessing with the correct report and should have the Daily Drawing winner for Day 23 shortly...
Thank you Twenty One Days. And thank you HubPages for opening the many doors to the many colors of foods. Writing and reading hubs about food had been a gastronomic adventure for me. It's like traveling around the world! Thank you for this rare chance
Right-O!
I've run the drawing again (this time with the CORRECT entries- hahaahh), and the winner is melbel, with her lovely piece All About Polish Food.
I apologize for my newbieness- and congratulate melbel for being today's SECOND Daily Drawing winner
Congratulations Melbel, will look forward to reading your hub.
Hi Jason, this is AARON here. I have published my first written hub just a few hours ago in the hubbalicious contest. My hub is on World Cuisines of Central American or South American topic and the name of the hub is "The history of American soul foodstuffs". So, i would like to request you kindly to let me know that is everything all right or not. If i had done anything wrong then please rectify me. I need your help in this regard. Please look into the matter. Thank you.
Hi Aaron,
I wrote to you directly in an email. American soul food is not Central/South American. It should be in Creole cuisine, later in this contest week.
Though habee had a statistical leg up thanks to her three extra entries (a result of her astute Daily Puzzle answer yesterday), rmcrayne won today's Daily Drawing with her Hub on gastronomical travels in Mexico.
Congrats to rmcrayne!
... but not to my poor stomach, which, after reading her post, is rumbling like an early morning garbage truck T_T. Can someone please FedEx me some chili rellanos?
Whew! Finally, after 63 contest hubs (28 hubs for March Health Hubs, and 35 for Food)! With my Top Ten nomination for recipes, I'd say I truely had a Hubbalicious week! Thanks!!
Congrats rmcrayne
What a cheerful and creative way to express congratulations, Money Glitch
Thanks prettydarkhorse and habee. I'm jazzed. It was an 'eleventh hour' entry too- I published 10 minutes before deadline!
