Since I am at a crossroads with my life (career wise) while I earnestly work on my writing career ( writing is what I'm going to do for the future- no doubts for me anymore on it)
I have to come up with an alternative income stream while I go through this writers learning curve (SEO and blah blah blah)
So I have decided in the meantime to go back to earning at what I know best in the meantime-
Window painting and murals ( for now anyway) I've always made my best income from this....
And I would like my fellow hubbers input while I put my new name together-
The reason I have always struggled with the "window painting" name is because to me window painting sounds like I paint window trim or something-
But I don't- I paint murals and signage on windows for temporary use-
So with that in mind- you are all so wonderful with words- what comes to your mind when you think of an artist painting words and or designs and or murals on windows?
( also I will use this for the internet- probably as a another vehicle for articles on the subject)
I want people to be able to get what I do right away.
Thanks!
Have you thought about: Pane'full O'Art
Pane'full Designs
Designer Panes
I like using Pane instead of window, it has a sophicated ring to it!
Artistic Panes
Arts'n Panes
Rember, the As are first in most directories
My, I see why you're struggling with the right words. How about "window murals" or "murals on glass"? I know mur means wall, but let's not get picky! Or even "designs on glass".
Wow Lissie- that used to be my business name "Dorsi Designs", before we had our sign business. I thought about going back to it but I wanted something more specific to window painting now, and I've never been able to adequately describe what I do.
And Marisa, yes it's tough to find a name! Thanks for the suggestions too. Maybe I'll scan and post a couple pics of past work and something will ring a bell.
Thanks!
Just a thought--
How about "Picture Windows"?
Or "Signs of the Times"?
Or "Signs for the Times"?
Or "Window Graphics"?
Or "Window Designs"?
Or "Pane-T'd-Window Signs"?
If I think of anymore, I'll be back!
Sorry Dorsi, I thought you were looking for a tagline to describe your business, rather than a business name.
As you say, if you use the word graphics or signage, people are going to think you only do signage. Perhaps "Dorsi's Window Art"?
I am looking for both Marisa,
I could go back to Dorsi Designs I guess for the business name but I need something to describe what I do- what I've done in the past- I just called it window art but that just really does'nt get it.
It's really a dying art and not too many people do it anymore.I was fortunate to become very prolific at it and now I think it's the best way for me to earn some money while writing ( I mean I could go get a job but this will earn me far more than working in corporate- I just have to get my tail out there and market myself again- and prepare for funky weather (that's the main drawback when painting outside)
I used to have some really good acounts in Northern Ca, but I don't want to drive all over anymore either. That was a pain.
I'm just going local this time.
I think u should grab your .com url at the same time - even if u dont intend to develop it yet
Hey there;
I also window paint windows for extra income, and also was frustrated with the title as people who are not familiar with this form of advertising have no idea what it is.
I have tried to think of different names as well.
Sooo, let's see....Hand Painted Window Advertising is how I ususally explain what it is I do..of course you can also explain that you can advertise for their running specials in a business as well as seasonal.
My business cards say Paynes by Joy, so a little play on words and sometimes worth peoples time to find out what it is all about....

My granddaughter painted car windows for the local festival and after raining for 2 days, her designs are flaking off. She used acrylic paints. Should she have used someting different than acrylics? If so, what? She painted quite a few car windows and I'm wondering if she should just give the money...

I've been an active user of HP for over 6 years. Over that time, my income would increase until, suddenly, my "reads" would take a hit and my (modest) income would take a drop. This has happened a number of times, as you all know. And, I dutifully went through my articles and modified,...

Hi Team HubPages! This is to bring to your kind attention that some of the fellow writers are not able to login to HubPages. Nell Rose, from England, has requested me to raise this issue in the forums, so that this issue can be resolved. I am not sure whether I can share her profile link in the...

What is your opinion of all the Hubs that are written as tributes to other Hubbers?I see a lot of Hubs written thanking followers and just tributes in general to them. I think that is a wonderful idea, but just wonder how they show up in Google search engines.

I appreciate edits, I really do. First, it shows someone has shown an interest in my article. Second, it aids in literary or journalistic growth. When you have put your heart into something, however, and have taken several days to write an article, there should be a little more care by our HubPages...
