Sometimes I have problems with writer's block. Has anyone else suffered from this?
How do you deal with it?
You got a cute dog
She's my "angel". That is her name. I love her to death. She wants to be in the chair with me since it has gotten cold.
Here's another pic!
She was a rescue from a puppy mill. She was a mama. When they rescued her she didn't have any hair. That is sad.
writers block... I keep a notebook with hub ideas that I am evolving. When I have writers block I work on the notebook or A work on a hub in process. Eventually something interesting causes a reaction.
Thanks davenmidtown! Actually the animals are blocking my ability to write! I too have a note book!
I was not going to mention that... the one on your right is looking at my ankles...
She would be more likely to lick your ankles more than anything else.
I have never had "writer's block". Over the past 15 years, I have averaged one 500 word or more article per day. That's 365 days per year, by the way.
However, there have been times when I had no interest in writing. Tired, stressed, busy with other things.. sometimes I have gone as much as a month without writing a thing and at other times I have done 3-4 posts per day.
II certainly am not claiming that all of these were the finest work or even my finest work. If you are fussier than I, you should expect to have less volume, but I have never understood how anyone could ever say that they have run out of ideas.
Yes,developing the Idea into a piece of writing can be difficult - especially if you are fussy and demanding about what you will publish.
Certain ideas can also be hard to express - I have struggled for weeks over how to express some thoughts, but I charged ahead with others while that one was simmering.
But ideas themselves? I don't expect to ever run out. The news is full of inspiration, so is my email and almost every conversation with friends.
So, if lack of ideas is what you mean by writers block, no I have not.
I was referring to the cat and dog that were making it difficult to get to the keyboard. I have many ideas that are simmering and many just waiting to be written. Sorry to lead you astray!
Sadly I can not participate in the forum any longer as it may drop my hubscore. lol
I am so used to seeing cats and dogs interfering with keyboards that I didn't even think it abnormal !
Isn't that their function?
It is in my house, and they tag team me. When one cat leaves, the next one steps in! lol!
Yes you do, but it is a rather good problem to have, isn't it?
Yes indeed. At our house we call them HELP-ers, because they love HELP-ping. (Always said with a wink.) We say "It takes a different amount of time to get things done with so much HELP."
I know it takes longer to write a hub with all this help!
I am a newbie, but it sounds like you are all very good at this.
I usually have the opposite problem. I call it "writer's diarrhea." Yeah, gross, I know. But it's apropos!
May you never be cured! I hope to have such a problem!
You NEVER make spelling or grammatical errors!
I wouldn't even mention this if it were anyone else - apropos - you must be over tired from Xmas and I insist that you go lie down immediately!
Lol, PQ - I make 'em all the time! I find the older I get, the more I make. Thanks!
BTW, I have a hard time seeing my mistakes when they're still "fresh." Sometimes when I read a hub again a few days after it's been published, I can see my mistakes. Oh, this morning I typed the word "about" and thought it looked really strange. I think I'm getting Alzheimer's.
I have been so stressed lately, that I am loosing my desires to write. I went through a week where I kept rejecting my ideas to write because I just couldn't get my stories to flow. I too, have a fur ball that loves to lay on my arms as I am trying to type. Screws me up every time...LOL!
I really hate it when they start typing! The other day I was all of the sudden sending a money gram. She had stepped on my mouse pad. As I back clicked that was beside the hub. lol
I am like Habee. Lots of ideas. Lots of effort. Not enough time.
One of my furkids enjoys hanging his big head over my right shoulder as I type. I think he's trying to provide moral support. lol
Love it! I like that kind of moral support!
The elusive writers block! I have never actually experienced it but I feel for you! Maybe you need to take a break to get a new perspective on your work! What sort of things do you write?
I usually write about whatever strikes me, But this particular writer.s manifests itself as warm gray and furry.
I get writer's block sometimes, and I find that if I try to push it and write anyway it doesn't turn out very good. It feels forced and I'm not happy with what I've written. So I just write when I feel like it. When I'm in the right mood (usually really late at night, annoyingly!), then the words just fly out almost faster than I can type them! So that kind of makes up for the slow times.
Love the animal photos. And I'm glad they "help" to write stuff. Maybe they need their own accounts?
I don't know abut that, The other day one of them tried to send a money gram!
Oh - now I understand the zoo you were referring to, or rather Davenmidtown was referring to in your hub.
Here is my partner in writing crime. Yesterday, we took the day off hubs to do a little shopping.
He is a cutie! Does he do some of your typing for you also?
If you're going to mention my dog in your forum, at least get it right - it is actually "SHE" Haha! Haha!
(That's a little humor regarding the "Frank" name-spelling squabble on AEvan's top hubbers list which carried over to sunshine625's top 100 hub.)
Anyway, Ruby, curls up ON my arm as I type. She is a huge cuddler! You do have a zoo - the start of your homestead I guess.
Actually you only see 2 of the five here. What you are not seeing is a golden retriever mix - a little big for the lap - and two more cats. The other day I was sitting in that chair with an additional cat.
Give Ruby my apologies. I should have realized that that cute face could only be a female...
I see your hubber score is dancing all over the place also.
Plus she is a shopper. That should have been a dead give-away that she is a she.
The previous picture she was shopping for birds, and next you can see her meeting a scary bulldog in the dog dish aisle, trying on collars, and finally home with a new rawhide and collar. She also got a manicure (actually a nail-trimming).
BTW - I think I better go re-read my goal setting hub again. I don't think posting lots of pics of my cute little beagle is part of my Jan. goals.
Sometimes it doesn't hurt deviate a bit. Besides - they are such cute pics! You can't help but show them off!
and she wants silkie chickens too... and possibly a lion... I think she should stick to the box of animal crackers!
Yes, I hate writer's block. How I deal with it depends on the type of writing involved. If it is scientific or legal writing then outlining sometimes helps me. Alternatively, if I am stuck on the introduction I might just start writing portions of the middle and then construct the intro and transitions later. If it is creative writing and I am coming up dry for topics, I might surf the Internet and just see where it leads me or start jotting notes of recent funny anecdotes or things my kids have said.

Are you suffering from what is called the 'Writer's block'?For months I have been unable to write something on hubpages. I have had brilliant ideas but I end up procrastinating and telling myself that those ideas are best left to be written later for the book I intend to write someday. In the...

I have been having so much writer's block these past few months. Usually I can write nonstop for days and have everything turn out the way I want it to. Now I can barely get out a chapter. I have all of these ideas and I am struggling to make them flow without getting stuck. Does anyone out their...

I'm just wondering what people use for cures to writers block. I usually either go for a walk or make tea but I'm sure there are a lot of others tips and tricks that could help.

How do you cure writers block? When writers block strikes, what do you do to help yourself get back in the writing mood again and come up with something?

Ever get stuck with a form of writer's block--smack dab in the middle of a piece you've already begun??The usual tips for coming up with ideas won't work here, as those are too generic; they are for just thinking of something, anything, to write.

What is Writers Block?Personally, whether I write a Short Story, or a Poem, it has been running around in my head for days or weeks, it seems. And then suddenly, I just have to write it down, from top to bottom, in a frenzy, regardless of grammar, until feel it is ended. Later for the...
