Have you guys heard? Prince died. I'm beside myself, one of my favorite and beloved artists. Ugh, so sad. Talk amongst yourselves, I have to see clients, didn't have anyone else to share with, back later. sad

Watching CNN and learning about his talent and his phenomenal performances.  Many are saying that there was something different about him during his last show in Atlanta (was it just a week ago?).  Sad to lose anyone but especially one who shared so much of himself!

What a shock '- he was only 57.  He died from "flulike symptoms" - they don't know the cause yet.

I saw him in concert when he opened for the Rolling Stones in 1981, and was booed off the stage.  I understand Mick Jagger encouraged him, telling him the Stones had the same experience many times in the early 1960s.  Prince went on to have a great career of his own.

I know he was abandoned as a child, and forced to grow up couch surfing.  I've also heard from more than one source his background is Seventh Day Adventist, like me!  LOL!

Rest in Peace, Prince - and party like it's 1999!

Yes the seventh-day is the Sabbath & NOT Sunday. When I saw the Stones in '73 their back-up band was the link little known ZZTopp.  Did you know Prince sold his soul for the Illuminati like most big stars?

My friend in the Sacramento area is totally paranoid about the Illumi-nazis, to the point where she refuses to even use her email.  She has barely worked in the past 20-odd years, for a similar reason.  However, it's ok for her husband to have an email address and work!  If he took the same attitude, they'd both be homeless.

I don't believe in the Illumi-nazis.  If all were that simple, anyone could sell their souls to them and become rich and famous.

So brilliant, so sad. Yet Prince gave us so much.

The news says he was showing flu symptoms and considered cancelling a concert last week. That Will Smith talked to Prince last night and he seemed fine. I don't recall him having a drugged up history, or anything like that. He was generous and gave a lot to charities, especially to Travon Martin's family.

It is awful so soon after losing David Bowie, but many of our favorite musicians and artists from the Baby Boomer era are getting old now. It's going to be hard to lose so many of them, yet each generation does.

            Rest well, Prince.

I wouldn't be surprised if he died of something minor that he just went on working hard through thinking he'd be fine or that it was nothing. It happens to intense, driven people all too often and he certainly was one.

I think you may be right, Kylyssa and it's not what TMZ is implying. Either way, it's a devastating loss and doesn't matter. He's gone and was a genius.

Today they are saying on the news that Prince was unresponsive for a bit on a plane a week or so ago, and the plane was diverted for landing. So he probably was sick or had some kind of illness, and kept pushing himself.

It reminds me a little of Michael Jackson. When in his 20's, he was moon walking and doing so many dance moves. A man gets to be in his late 50s like Prince, it's much harder to give all that energy in a show.

Sorry you didn't have anyone to vent with janshares. You are always so kind on the forums. We can all listen to our favorite songs and honor him in that way. XO

Hi Jean, thanks. That's what I'm doing now, listening to some of his old stuff. Interestingly enough, I had a client who needed to vent and grieve about the loss. So she was very comfortable sharing her grief with someone who understands. Also processed with colleagues in our meeting today. This loss touched so many people.

When I saw this on bing.com, I thought to myself, " Oh no, not another internet hoax. Please say it isn't so."  However when I read further, many news sources confirmed the death of the great musical genius Prince.  Yes, I am in DEEP SHOCK.  I am playing his cd albums in remembrance of one of the GREAT MUSICAL ONES.

So what's going on, so many musical greats are disappearing this year:

      Natalie Cole
      Glenn Frey
      David Bowie and now
Prince: author of one of the greatest little dance ditties ever made, "1999".

Jan, it makes me sad that you have no one to share news with, except your fellow Hubbers, but we do care.
I did hear about Prince and his long time friend and manager was sharing some memories about Prince's generosity (i.e. the person, not just his music)
      Blessings to you dear Jan.

Thanks, Shyron, sweet of you. I had been in my office all day seeing clients when I saw the news in Twitter during my lunch break. I really wanted to call my sister who passed away in December. We were huge Prince fans. I got voicemails for 3 other people I tried to call. So I was really feeling the need to talk about it.

I think his death shocked everybody.  To me, he was a beautiful, gentle soul who went through a terrible time when his child almost died.  Far too young, especially for such a good person.

His son actually did pass away. Don't recall how old but don't think he was a year old. He certainly was as kind as he was gifted.

I think Prince has taken over facebook today. Every other post is about him. I have his greatest hits album, I also tried to get tickets to one of his concerts that happened in Grand Rapids a few years ago. Someone told me that they went to the concert and it was awesome. They also said that they had the doors to the arena open so people outside could hear the concert, and it drew quite a large crowd. The only singer to ever do that in Grand Rapids.

Thanks everyone for posting and paying homage to Prince. I've been wrapped up in news coverage all evening, trying to take it in and celebrate his life through his music.
