Astaire or Jackson. It's a toss up really. Both were outragiously talented, however Jackson probably had the greater impact. Is that because he was better, or simply enjoyed greater exposure?

Michael Jackson obviously, he is the best dancer ever, for some reason he is the king of pop and entertainment, is well known that MJ could dance anything and even improve anything, long live the king, the new dancers just copy his style, that's the simple true.

    Michael Jackson? Really?

So many great dancers throughout history. Nureyev, Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, Donald O'Connor, Nijinski, Margot Fonteyne, Bob Fosse, Gwen Vernon, Ginger Rogers, Agnes Demille, Isadora Duncan. These are people who changed dance...

Okay, maybe Michael Jackson contributed but I hardly consider him the best dancer of all time...that would be silly. He got most of his moves from Bob Fosse smile

Like mega said a year ago, you can't choose just one.

      Michael Jackson? Really? Really.

The so many dancers you claim throughout history such as Nureyev, Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, Donald O' Connor, Ginger Rogers, etc, etc.. Are peole who changed dance, yes, but these people were all trained (obviously taught dancers), because they all performed the same styled choreography. Michael Jackson not only taught himself, having natural talent since a young age, but grew naturally and took from various dancers, as well as created dance, and changed dance throughout history. He is a tremendously talented dancer because he was extremely versatile, he channeled every form of dance including those of old. He was a splendid performer as well. If you know what really makes a dancer, such as core strength, flexibility, great coordination, emotion, rythm, posture, and versatility, then you know that Michael Jackson truly embodied them all. He has done solo dance performances that prove this, his skill-- (some of his greatest performances are those live) do the research, and see for yourelf. No doubt, Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, Ginger Rogers, and the others in those days were very great dancers, but frankly, Michael Jackson wasn't called the greatest performer and dancer for no reason. Even Fred Astaire himself admitted he was another great talent, like himself.

As I said way up there, it is Bob Fosse. Michael Jackson got most of his moves from him.

Okay, among the three men you have presented, Michael Jackson wins unanimously hands down.   However, I will suggest someone who is not on your list- this man is the great Fred Astaire.   He was off the charts when it came to dancing, savoire faire, and class.   Mr. Astaire was the epitome of class!
