   If you could change your last name what would you change it to and why?  If you would'nt change why?

   I wouldn't change it. It's short and sweet and not too hard to spell for those who get the pronunciation right!

   Good question : When I was young I wanted to change my first name, but not my last name.
   
   As for my last name I am proud to have it because my father was a war hero in World War 2 , and I love my family name.
   
   My first name is Leon. I am still not wild about it, but I can live with it. There was a werewolf movie with a whimpy looking werewolf monster named Leon. He was just a plain old victim of a monster.
   
   Anyway, I guess I had a lot of silly reasons why I was not crazy about my name. I also grew up with a kind of inferiority complex so there was not a lot of things I loved about myself.
   
   Anyway, after I became a police officer, and did some good things in my life I began to really like myself much more. I saved lives. Now I can like me a little better, and tolerate my name.
   
   I wish I would have had a name like Clint, Brad, Micheal, or Clark.  Oh well, I will be satisfied with what I have.

   I love this question! It makes me laugh because sometimes I refer to myself by a different last name: Emeritus. I'm not sure why I like the word. I guess it's kinda highfalutin like it's definition...a hundred-dollar word, so I use it. My own last name is common and I like it; but I get sick of people asking me how to spell it. "Spell it?" So why not have something worthy of the question--and that's still not as awful to spell as some last names!

   I have changed my last name three times, now and have no plans to ever change it again! The first time I changed my name was because I got married the first time, the second time was because I wanted to go back to my maiden name because I didn't want my ex's name anymore. Then I met a wonderful man and remarried and I won't change my name again!

   I have LONG been an advocate of this thinking............
   
   
   A woman does not CHANGE her name when she marries................she simply adds to it.
   
   I would perfer to always use my Family name, IF it did not offend my husband for me to do so.
   
   I was a person, before him, and if he leaves this world before me, I will still be someone.
   
   
   If I was a "JONES", when I married a " Smith", I did not "become" a Smith, I remained a Jones, with the AUTHORITY to use the name of my SMITH husband.
   
   
   I still am, who I was, now, I am even more!   This was the gift my husband gave me on our day or marriage.
   
   
   There are times when I use the name of my hubby, the name of my family, and there are times when I use a combination of the two..................
   
   otherwise, WHO would I be, without my hubby?

    I used to think when I was younger about changing my name to something that I thought might fit me better, but in recent years I've decided more and more that I kind of like my name. My last name at least. I'm proud of being a Wynn! Being an Earl though. . . well, if it wasn't my grandfather's name (and he's an awesome man) I probably would have had it changed. Being called "Earl" still doesn't feel 100% right to me.

    I haven't changed my maiden name to my married name.  I don't think I should have to.  I may add to it later, but for now, I am happy with who I am.

    I should be 'Michael Edwards'. My mom named me 'Michael' but always called me 'Mickey', my father's name was 'Wade' but he left just after I was born and eventually my mom remarried to a man named 'Haist' - so, while all my ID (driver's license, Social Security card, banking, etc) says 'Mickey Haist', my birth certificate said "Michael Ward'. I say "said" because when I got married I had get a new birth certificate made that read 'Mickey (Michael) Kit Haist (Ward)'.
    
    I never knew my father, and Mr. Haist was only in my life for a couple of years when I was very little - my mom's family name is 'Edwards', so 'Michael Edwards' seems like the real or most 'me' . . . but, even at (nearly) 60, I am 'Mickey'.

    If I have a choice when I get married, I'd probably not change it...I'm proud of my family! My last name could be very generic, "Lee" but it means a lot to me.
    
    But if I do get married, I'd probably be obligated to change it (it's not just done in our society to keep the maiden name) so maybe I'll just find a husband with the same surname:P

    My wife and I almost changed both our names to "Wordsmith" when we got married. That was over 25 years ago. We didn't take the public action. Recently, I began to see we'd missed a good, challenging reminder of who we are. Now, whether we take the name or not, we are living as Wordsmiths.
    
    I have also received names in the Buddhist tradition. I believe a name is something to live up to. So, if you want to give yourself a new name, find the highest aspiration of your soul.

    I would change my last name to Buffett so that I could be related to Warren Buffett and be exposed to his knowledge and experience. I have tremendous respect for this man who is uber wealthy, yet so humble and down to earth.
    
    Imagine asking to be taxed more so that you can help out your country? This is what he did. Just incredible.
