What's your favorite type (s) of music? Why? ALL MUSICLOVERS COME IN!
I love filk music. Here's a sample:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUeR-td2 … r_embedded
I like acoustic or soft rock music with great lyrics. Although I listen to everything, that tends to be my favorite.
Great! Then you probably like The Beatles, who created soft rock.
I do, a lot of their songs fit in that genre, some of them were a little more pop (but I still like them). Like I said, acoustic, soft rock, then punk ska and reggae. But some of my favorite artists are: John Mayer, Ben Harper, Jack Johnson, Dave Matthews Band, Reel Big Fish, Slightly Stoopid, Authority Zero, Sublime, Snow Patrol, Jack's Mannequin, Pepper, Death Cab, Snow Patrol... oh goodness there are soooo many!
Punk is one, ska is another. Sorry, there should have been a comma.
Punk would be like The Clash or The Ramones. Punk came out of the 70s. But here is a newer band.
Here's a punk band: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFuWMXxpf5M
And ska has a lot of instruments, horns etc.
Here's a ska band:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=498JxKxO_E8
and another example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1YUtZ5y13o4
But some can overlap with their styles. Hope that helped.
Thanks for the links. I think I like ska best. David Bowie had a hand in bringing punk music into vogue, but it's morphed a bit since! Bowie's got a few I like a lot. Ashes To Ashes, Golden Years.
The music of my heart is roots music, when it comes to punk how about my old mates http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCkNu9OxThc
Just watched the SKA vid.
how about some band names and CDs for a new fan?
My son likes ragtime! He plays Scott Joplin on the keyboard all the time, I don't know of any other ragtimers. It's not like that's something that can be found in stores. He used to play classical all the time, then he heard ragtime. He also loves writing music scores for games. The music on a game is a make or break deal for him.
Ragtime? That's rather unique these days. He sounds very musical. I wonder how old he is....
Here are some other established Ragtime Composers:Jelly Roll Morton, Eubie Blake, Charles L. Johnson, Tom Turpin, May Aufderheide, George Botsford, Zez Confrey, Ben Harney, Luckey Roberts, Paul Sarebresole, and Wilbur Sweatman.
Some say he OD'd on heroin, others say his mother killed him with a heroin overdose.
And yep, they did carry on after that. They're still going.
I started composing when I was 40 and many have said it was well worth the wait.
My music has been put on radio and I am glad to share it with the Hubbers here.
Click the link, the 1st song is mine, then pick from my "play~list" on the page for more or it will switch to another artist just like a radio station would.
Click on a smiley face to say you like it and that helps get it played more often. You can leave comments too. Enjoy these beautiful melodies. They are all uniquely different.
52% of 1st time listeners like my music, the station tells me that the norm for new music is a 10-12% liking. Right now it is heard in 10 countries on 5 Continents.

It is best heard when sitting in silence.
i liked the Pennywise cover, didnt they cover Stand by Me also?
q and t, when i clicked on the jango link a while ago, it played a different one than it plays this time. What's the actual name of yours?
Well each time you close out and reopen Jango it will play another random choice of my songs just like a radio station would. So when you open it again, you should see a play list of my music of 22 songs in the middle of the page.
When I just tried it, it played my song and then went to Nora Jones, but I just picked another one of mine. It gets played along side famous artists.

PLEASE RATE IT WITH A SMILEY FACE
After it plays mine it will try to go to another artist, but just chose from my play list that should read like this I think.

Heavy Metal, Thrash, Hard Rock, Classic Rock, some older Punk..
I have a wide variety of tastes..I even like some older "gangsta" rap..lol
Say, B.C. BOUTIQUE---What's Thrash? Anybody got a Thrash link to share?
HERE'S SOMETHING We Can Play With In The Music Den-- CREATING AN ARTIST CHAIN, LIKE THIS:
1. POST A MUSICAL ARTIST'S FIRST NAME
2. THE NEXT POST ADDS THE ARTIST'S LAST NAME FOLLOWED BY 1 OR
MORE OF THAT ARTIST'S SONGS, THEN ADDS THE FIRST NAME
OF A DIFFERENT MUSICAL ARTIST, Ad Infinitum....
(Artists With The Same First Name Are Fine For Listing;
When The 1st Poster's Intended Artist's First Name Is
Followed By The Songs Of Another Artist With The Same First
Name, The 1st Poster Can Simply Re-submit The First Name
To Allow A Second Guess At the Intended Artist's Last Name
This Applies For Artists With
The Same First Name Like David Sanborne & David Essex)
I'll start with: Elvis
Well, the pics are great. But not the music! The name of it certainly matches its sound....
You sound like my dad!
The one I linked to is one from the early '80s. This is one of their latest: My Apocalypse You probably won't like it any better. And here is one of my favorites by them: Fade to Black
The music I really like tends to mix rock and opera to one degree or another. I don't know if it has an official name but I have sen it titled rock-opera, death metal, and goth metal.
Nightwish:

Montez---Call Me (that's probably not the Chris you had in mind...?)
Your dad's wise! Thanks for the links. I'll listen.
Next first name---Paul
Overstreet -- Dig Another Well, Nothing but Your Love
No, that wasn't the Chris I was thinking of, but there are many by that name.
Loretta
honestly, there isn't a whole lot of music i don't like
I'm a fan of just about everything here and there
Jazz fusion (Pat Metheny, Jan Garbarek and many more). There is so much gong on, so may changes of tempo and key that it just never gets boring - and of course, no words
I also like the Beatles, as well as most classic rock. And I like a lot of old-time music like Glenn Miller and Brubeck.
JONES---SHE'S A LADY (?)
JONI
(Waited for your reply but gotta go now. See you later, my friend)
real Hip-hop that has poetical meaning and inspiration or even motivation. Or the songs that show a message. But forget about all the mainstream stuff that's playing these days. That's the Illuminati's fault with all the mind controlling messages. If you play some of Lil Wayne's music backwards it will be subliminal messages in it. LEARN about what your listening to before you go and rate it. Most of the underground stuff is great though. The underground is keeping REAL alive. SAVE HIP-HOP
Sadler -- The Green Beret
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LH4-tOqLH94
Clay
I Gotta Feeling -- Black Eyed Peas
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9CmZXSS … eature=fvw
Either first name can be re-posted anytime.... I'm outta guesses on Clay already! You can finish it with the last name and a songtitle if you want, then gimme another first name.
I love all types of music, but right now I'm really liking "Nickleback's - If Today Was Your Last Day."
Music is as varied as our moods and it's mainly all good as a result. But on a note of discovery, here's a tune that always sticks in my mind:
warning: don't play unless you want to be humming "do do do, do do do, dooooooo, doo doo doo doo" all day tomorrow! xD
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqashW66D7o
My favorite kind of music is probably classic rock, soft rock, or pop. I also like some new age type stuff, and recently I have been getting into a little country (which is increasingly difficult to differentiate from pop).
ANDY WILLIAMS sang a song called "It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year"; in the song, he sings of people listening to "scary ghost stories" on Christmas Day.
I wondered after hearing that line from the song, Do people in America really gather round and tell ghost stories on Christmas Day? Anybody here done that? I thought that was Halloween territory.
My guess is that the songwriter was just trying to rhyme and make sense at the same time.
I guess he or she ran out of rhymes....!
I like Jazz music. My favorite jazz artists are DAVID BENOIT, AL JARREAU, GROVER WASHINGTON JR, BILL COBHAM, MICHAEL MCDONALD, GEORGE BENSON, NAJEE, SPYRO GYRA, SADE, LUTHER VANDROSS. I also like the music of SANTANA, EARTH WIND AND FIRE, GATO BARBIERI'S EUROPA, and many more.
I tend to lean towards the heavier, darker stuff. I like heavy metal in most of it's forms (except for pure thrash metal, metalcore, and most nu-metal.) I also like a dark ambient; some jazz; some classical music; grunge; rock n roll.
Come to think of it, the only type of music I don't like is pop, rap, r&b, and country.
I am bringing this thread back because I want someone to talk to about Thao with the Get Down Stay Down and maybe they'll suggest some other music kinda like that for me. I just wrote a hub about them. Please! I am a music junky! Help!
I'm a music junkie myself. like OPM or Original Pilipino Music. OPM's are songs composed by Filipino Artists. While most of these songs are in the Filipino language, a lot of OPM songs are also very well written in English.
I would like to share to you some of my favorite English songs written by my favorite Filipino artists.
I hope you'll like them.
I will be featuring more Filipino artists and posting new
English songs in the future.

Your Top 3 Fav Blues Guitarists (deceased artists included, of course).R+R guitarists get all the notoriety, yet their way was paved before them by scores of talented 6-stringers, only a handful of whom (Muddy Waters, BB King, Buddy Guy, Matt 'Gtr' Murphy, etc.) have gotten the recognition they...
