I like acoustic or soft rock music with great lyrics. Although I listen to everything, that tends to be my favorite.

Great!  Then you probably like  The Beatles, who created soft rock.

I do, a lot of their songs fit in that genre, some of them were a little more pop (but I still like them). Like I said, acoustic, soft rock, then punk ska and reggae. But some of my favorite artists are: John Mayer, Ben Harper, Jack Johnson, Dave Matthews Band, Reel Big Fish, Slightly Stoopid, Authority Zero, Sublime, Snow Patrol, Jack's Mannequin, Pepper, Death Cab, Snow Patrol... oh goodness there are soooo many!

      What's punk ska?

    4. Colebabie profile image60
      Colebabieposted 14 years ago

Punk is one, ska is another. Sorry, there should have been a comma.
Punk would be like The Clash or The Ramones. Punk came out of the 70s. smile But here is a newer band.
      Here's a punk band: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFuWMXxpf5M

And ska has a lot of instruments, horns etc.
      Here's a ska band:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=498JxKxO_E8
      and another example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1YUtZ5y13o4

But some can overlap with their styles. smile Hope that helped.

Thanks for the links.   I think I like ska best.   David Bowie had a hand in bringing punk music into vogue, but it's morphed a bit since!  Bowie's got a few I like a lot.   Ashes To Ashes,  Golden Years.

My son likes ragtime! He plays Scott Joplin on the keyboard all the time, I don't know of any other ragtimers. It's not like that's something that can be found in stores. He used to play classical all the time, then he heard ragtime. He also loves writing music scores for games. The music on a game is a make or break deal for him.

I started composing when I was 40 and many have said it was well worth the wait.

My music has been put on radio and I am glad to share it with the Hubbers here.

Click the link, the 1st song is mine, then pick from my "play~list" on the page for more or it will switch to another artist just like a radio station would.

Click on a smiley face to say you like it and that helps get it played more often. You can leave comments too. Enjoy these beautiful melodies. They are all uniquely different.

52% of 1st time listeners like my music, the station tells me that the norm for new music is a 10-12% liking. Right now it is heard in 10 countries on 5 Continents.

Well each time you close out and reopen Jango it will play another random choice of my songs just like a radio station would. So when you open it again, you should see a play list of my music of 22 songs in the middle of the page.

When I just tried it, it played my song and then went to Nora Jones, but I just picked another one of mine. It gets played along side famous artists.

        http://www.jango.com/music/beautyforashes
PLEASE RATE IT WITH A SMILEY FACE big_smile
After it plays mine it will try to go to another artist, but just chose from my play list that should read like this I think.

              Embracing forever

              Come To Me Broken-with trio

              A Moment In Time-with trio

              Blue Nocturne

              Elogey

              Song For Helen

              Let me Simply Say

              Megan's Dance

              The Vision Of Shekinah

              The Puppet

              Iron Sharpens Iron

              Teshuvah

              Take Me By The Hand

Who Told You You Were Naked…

              I Am Amazed

              Can You Hear Me Calling

              Face To Face

Can We Fall In Love Again

              Now That You Are Gone

              A Moment In Time

              Come To Me Broken

              My Only

If you want to down load it you can go here because it cannot be done from Jango Radio.  There is a "down arrow" near the play button.

HERE'S SOMETHING We Can Play With In The Music Den-- CREATING AN ARTIST CHAIN, LIKE THIS:

         1. POST  A  MUSICAL  ARTIST'S  FIRST  NAME

         2. THE NEXT  POST ADDS THE ARTIST'S LAST NAME FOLLOWED BY 1 OR
MORE  OF  THAT  ARTIST'S  SONGS, THEN ADDS THE FIRST NAME
OF A DIFFERENT MUSICAL ARTIST, Ad Infinitum....

            (Artists With The Same First Name Are Fine For Listing;
When The 1st Poster's Intended Artist's First Name Is
Followed By The Songs Of Another Artist With The Same First
Name, The 1st Poster Can Simply Re-submit The First Name
To Allow A Second Guess At the Intended Artist's Last Name
            This Applies For Artists With
The Same First Name Like David Sanborne & David Essex)

      I'll start with:  Elvis

The music I really like tends to mix rock and opera to one degree or another.  I don't know if it has an official name but I have sen it titled rock-opera, death metal, and goth metal.

real Hip-hop that has poetical meaning and inspiration or even motivation. Or the songs that show a message. But forget about all the mainstream stuff that's playing these days. That's the Illuminati's fault with all the mind controlling messages. If you play some of Lil Wayne's music backwards it will be subliminal messages in it. LEARN about what your listening to before you go and rate it. Most of the underground stuff is great though. The underground is keeping REAL alive. SAVE HIP-HOP

ANDY WILLIAMS sang a song called  "It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year"; in the song, he sings of  people listening to  "scary ghost stories"  on Christmas Day.
I wondered after hearing that line from the song, Do people in America really gather round and tell ghost stories on Christmas Day?      Anybody here done that?   I thought that was Halloween territory.
My guess is that the songwriter was just trying to rhyme and make sense at the same time.
I guess he or she ran out of rhymes....!

Come to think of it, the only type of music I don't like is pop, rap, r&b, and country.
