The entertainment industry WILL LOSE another legend. Thankfully, Oprah will entertain us for 2 more years.
Don't think for a minute you won't see more of Oprah. She's just pulling out of Chicago. Many people are about to lose jobs.
They're not saying exactly what she will do next, but there are plans in the making.
Love her or hate her, she supports a lot of people in this area. It's going to have an impact.
She must be tired of her show by now and wants to try new things. Good for her!
I like Oprah but don't understand why she made the announcement now, when she's not leaving the show until 2011.
I am a fan, and yes she is leaving daily talk and her syndicated show, but she has her OWN cable network, a show on sirius satellite radio, her Production company, her magazine, and her Publishing company SHE is an EMPIRE....she is not going anywhere, and I'm glad.
How can you Hate on that? You don't have to be a fan to be enamored by her sheer genius. Go Oprah~ hoping some of "it" rubs off on me.
Oprah is indeed an empire (as dejajolie asserts), and she is also a phenomenon--someone so powerful and influential we watch what she is doing. If Oprah takes notice, we stop for a moment to see why. Her talking show might be winding down, but she will still be in the picture.
Now I know why Oprah is so great. I didn't like here show. I thought she bashed men too much. But her acting and her choice of books was very good. I didn't understand her greatness until I heard the reason she is leaving her show. Unlike a punch drunk prize fighter; she is choosing to end her show at the right time. The perfect time. And I got the impression she really meant it. Miss Oprah Winfrey, I think you have so much class. You could just give it away the you give your money and time away; and still have too much for one person. I love you and I hope you dont go to far away.
Nothing 'classy' about it. She wanted a new contract and they didn't pony up as much as she wanted so she's gonna start her own channel on cable. She ain't done making money by a long shot.
As the typically dissenting voice I must say that decadent Mrs. Oprah - I need my own magazine - Winfrey is not much more than a psychological yo-yo who is addicted to rehab. In her case, repeatedly losing weight and getting back into shape. Strange how she is lauded as a success story merely for infecting a large portion of American women with her mental disease.
The only reason she is quitting is because her body is wearing out, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to hide her gluttonous habits, because she can't use digital imagery and air brushes on live television.
She certainly will never be done making money that's for sure. But then few sociopaths ever voluntarily eschew their deviant behaviors.
Hmmm...and now Barack Obama has his own magazine as well. Maybe he will write some articles on his crack habit and bisexual behaviors just like Oprah did.

Who do you think will be Oprah Winfrey's last guest in 2011?Oprah just announced she is finishing up her show after 25 years. The first thing that popped into my mind was who will get the honor of being the last guest.

Did you catch Oprah's hour-long "interview" of former Governor Sarah Palin?I think the tone was set from the get-go, when Sarah tried to hug Oprah and Oprah grabbed her hands and fended her off.Oprah's not very good at hiding when she doesn't like somebody. For me, I tried to find a reason...

I was lucky enough to get tickets to the Oprah show six years ago. I felt like Charlie when he opened the Willy Wonka Bar and found the elusive golden ticket inside! It was the experience of a lifetime. Does anyone else have a story about how they got to the Oprah show?
