What do you think of Jimmy Fallon as the new Tonight Show host?

I have tried to like him in this new role, I really have.  I think some of his things were funny on his own show, but in my opinion his interviews with people are painful to watch and I think he brings too much "Saturday Night Live" to the Tonight Show.  I've given it a couple of weeks and I just can't do it.  I really like him too - but just not as the Tonight show host.  Oh well.... I still hope he fares better than Conan did.

I have only seen a few minutes of his "Tonight" ... but to be honest I have always found Fallon mildly irritating even when he was on "SNL" so I don't think I'll be a regular viewer.

I agree with FreddyFatCat, I have never liked Fallon.  On SNL he was always breaking character and laughing during skits.  I understand sometimes an actor can't help themselves, but he did it all the time.   This turned me away from his comedy, and I try to avoid watching him.  I think this was a poor decision by the Tonight Show.

Harvey Korman often started laughing during skits on the Carole Burnett show and I thought it was hilarious (you can buy the skits on Amazon or see them on youtube).

If you ever saw Harvey and Carol in the Rhett Butler, Scarlet O'Hara skit....neither of them could control themselves...and that happened a lot on the Carol Burnett show.. That only makes people laugh more!

In the interest of being fair to Mr. Fallon, I will watch a few episodes and reevaluate my opinion.

The old Carol Burnett shows are classic smile I think the Scarlet O'Hara bit with the curtains was probably one of the funniest ones ever.  I need to watch some of those again. YouTube it is smile

Christin...that particular skit is a CLASSIC.  I nearly hurt myself laughing at that one.

It may not be at all fair for me to answer this question.  There's no way I can be objective.  I have a feeling I may be Jimmy Fallon's #1 Fan.  I dread when someone mentions him because I go on and on like a teen ager.

I fell in love with Jimmy during his SNL days.  IMO, he is a master at comedy, not to mention all his other talents.  He is a musician, an impressionist and of course, he writes so much of his own material.

He's a big-hearted guy, a devoted husband and father and extremely well-respected amongst his celebrity peers.  I also happen to think he's adorable.

No one could have been happier than I, when I heard the news about Jimmy being host of the Tonight Show.  This is a genius decision on the part of the Network executives, although I'm sure Jay Leno leaned hard on Jimmy's side.

What do I think?   I guess I answered that question, Christin.  I'm ecstatic.

I hear you! I like him too - I liked his original late night, but I just don't think he's the right choice for the Tonight Show. I hope he grows into the role though.

He'll be just fine.  His fan base is enormous.  HUGE!

I don't think Jimmy Fallon has either the comic or interviewee chops to be at the helm of the Tonight Show. I must confess that I've never liked him, so perhaps my bias is showing! However, I'm old enough to remember all the Tonight Show hosts, and Fallon can't touch any of them (in my opinion).

Wow!  Hi Jaye!  Looks like so far, I'm Jimmy's only fan!  LOL.....How you been?  I'm FREEZING!!

Hi, Paula - I suppose my answer was a bit grouchy, but I'm tough on a lot of comics. It took Tina Fey a while to grow on me. Perhaps Fallon will, too. Who knows?  I'm freezing, too, but I live in Mississippi!  It's not supposed to get this cold here.

Jaye...You've earned the right to be grouchy or any other ole thing you want!!  LOL!  Tina had to grow on me too.  I like her "Sarah Palin."   Jimmy will steal your heart eventually.  smile Stay warm!

I like the karaoke challenges. They are so corny and funny.

He is really funny! I also like the way he engages the guests to play games like charades. There was a real funny bit last night with Tina Fey where they switched lips. Hilarious!

I kind of agree with you ChristinS, while very unorthodox, he is funny, however I do think he's a lot better than Conan. I thought Conan was a complete moron. Kind of like the Will Ferrell of late night, not really funny, just an idiot. I'm sure he will do better than Conan.

I agree, I was not a Conan fan at all - never could get his humor.
