I've always liked the claustrophobic pounding tension of the score to John Carpenter's The Thing:

The soundtrack to ALIEN is also really eerie and great and helps with that sense of isolation and tension:

Some others would include movie scores from: Halloween, The Fog, The Exorcist, Nightmare on Elm Street, etc.

Back when I was a kid there was an urban legend about the theme to Lavender Town in the old Pokemon Red and Blue gameboy games. The rumor was that it affected only kids because it had notes adult ears couldn't hear that drove kids to suicide:

Also this one isn't scary but there is an urban legend that this Hungarian song also makes people kill themselves, I've listened to it several times and it is a sad song but I actually think it's pretty beautiful:

The whole thing is just malicious, unnerving, monstrous, and downright creepy. I typically hate drone metal with a passion, but this track actually succeeds at being an effectively unwelcoming piece of music. Extremely uncomfortable when you're all by yourself in total darkness.

In A Gadda da Vida by Iron Butterfly.  It's about a woman who is inadvertently buried alive.  I was 8 years old the first time I heard it, but 10 when I really understood what it was about.  I'm so GLAD they embalm people in this day and age!  Still, I'd rather be cremated.

"Procol Harum and Hendrix had shared a bill a few weeks before the guitar great died. The “Broken Barricades” liner notes recount how Trower watched from the wings as the German audience booed Hendrix for not playing his psychedelic “hits.” “(Trower) went bloody wild,” a Procol Harum member recalled. “He was ready to punch out 6,000 Germans.”
