Hey Lovely Hubber's
Hope you are all well! I'm currently watching Aladdin with my daughter (lol) and having a heated discussion with my friend on which is the best Disney film ever made! (we don't lead very exciting lives haha). Soooooo, which Disney film do you think is the best ever!?
Tarzan. When the ape who has no baby takes in Tarzan in spite of receiving flack from her "lord and master" The song... My son would sing that song in the back seat of the car. (in his little car seat) To this day it makes me cry to hear it. He's fifteen and still can sing the song word for word, note for note.

"Pocahantas," most definitely. The song "Colours of the Wind" has so much to teach us, even if it is just a Disney movie
You think I'm just an ignorant savage
And you've been so many places; I guess it must be so
But still I cannot see, if the savage one is me
How can there be so much that you don't know?
You don't know...
You think you own whatever land you land on
The earth is just a dead thing you can claim
But I know every rock and tree and creature
Has a life, has a spirit, has a name.
You think the only people who are people
Are the people who look and think like you
But if you walk the footsteps of a stranger
You'll learn things you never knew you never knew
Have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon
Or asked the grinning bobcat why he grinned
Can you sing with all the voices of the mountain
Can you paint with all the colors of the wind?
Can you paint with all the colors of the wind?
Come run the hidden pine trails of the forest
Come taste the sun-sweet berries of the earth
Come roll in all the riches all around you
And for once never wonder what they're worth
The rainstorm and the river are my brothers
The heron and the otter are my friends
And we are all connected to each other
In a circle in a hoop that never ends
Have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon
Or let the eagle tell you where he's been
Can you sing with all the voices of the mountain
Can you paint with all the colors of the wind?
Can you paint with all the colors of the wind?
How high will a sycamore grow?
If you cut it down then you'll never know
And you'll never hear the wolf cry to the blue corn moon
For whether we are white or copper skinned
We need to sing with all the voices of the mountain
We need to paint with all the colors of the wind
You can own the earth and still
All you'll own is earth until
You can paint with all the colors of the wind
I thought about this question forever, then it occured to me that I was forgetting about "The Rescuers". I had to, immediately, procure a copy and watch it with my daughter. Penny breaks my heart.
My personal favorite will probably always be Aladdin as it was the first I watched and caused me to choose the career path I now aspire to. However I think Tarzan has some of the best lyrics in a Disney movie, but Prince of Egypt (yes I know it's Dreamworks Animation) has some of the best music, melodic and rhythmically. Of all the Pixar movies I think my favorite is probably Wall-E or The Incredibles.
Beauty and the Beast. First and only animated feature to be nominated for Best Picture (at the Oscars).
Be our guest...
My favourite too
Hunch Back of Notre dame comes close though and The Lion King
Yes! I had forgotten that song Pani! I think because my little man (taller than me now) still sings the other one.
Yes that is so much more than just a Disney song, it is a sermon all mankind should hear every day.
I agree it's a very powerful song. It gives me goosebumps and tears every time I hear it!
I rediscovered the movie about a year ago. Since then, "Colours of the Wind" is a song I play whenever I feel frustrated or angry. It calms me and reminds me how beautiful life really is, reminds me how much everything and everyone matters.
Pirates of the Carrabiean, not an animated film but Disney none-the-less, I love Johnny Depp. LOL
Great Topic! I'm more old school so I am going to go with The Sword and the Stone and Peter Pan!
Ohhhh Peter Pan! I looove Peter Pan, I want him to come to me at night and fly me away to Neverland! Aha!
I never much cared for Tinkerbell in the movie but I just love the current Tinkerbell Fairy movies they show on the Disney channel now. I am more interested in them than my son is...
Good thread... lunchbreak just ended, but I'll be back to answer!
Ok, I have been thinking and thinking and thinking and the best I can come up with is this.
Picking a 'Best' Disney movie is like picking a best meal at a restaurant. It depends on your mood and what the evening has in store. They are all so good, at any given time almost any of them are the best.
well said Mike...I agree...I enjoy many Disney movies....it is hard to choose
Actually I agree
That is the best thing you have said all day Mike! (Not that I know what you've said today but I'm sure it's one of the best hehe )
Mikel always knows exactly the right way to put things
I'd say Incredibles, though that's Pixar.
I'd say Kingdom Hearts but that's video games.
So I'll go with Aladdin; Lion King is second.
No-one mentioned The Princess and the Frog. I just watched it last night and thought it fantastic, so I wrote a review of it. I thought it was great - certainly the best since Lion King, though they would be hard to beat Jungle Book.
i am currently half way through a four part series on Disney movies, I forgot how many there were when I started and it grew, after I have finished the four parter though I am going to do a top ten list of the all time best disney movies!
There are just too many favorites to pick. Holes, Tuck Everlasting, Remember the Titans, Mary Poppins, The Parent Trap and endless animated movies too. When my son was little "Fox & Hound" played in my dreams!
While Beauty & the Beast is still my favorite here are some I love as well:
Hocus Pocus
Heavyweights
Up (Pixar, owned by Disney)
The Little Mermaid
Bambi
The Nightmare before Christmas (Touchstone, still Disney)
i just skimmed this and saw a few really good ones but i have to say that the little mermaid is my all time absolute favorite disney film ever!
Ok, I'm back. I'm a bit of a Disney movie geek, so its SO hard to choose.
Of the more recent releases, I love UP. I haven't seen Princess and the Frog yet, but I'm so excited to see them go back to more of the individualized drawings, and less of the CGI backgrounds.
I love, LOVE Toy Story! My kiddos love it, and its one that I can always enjoy as well.
But, a lot of my favorites come more from the oldies.
Live Action:
The original Parent Trap w/ Haley Mills
The Watcher in the Woods (creepiest Disney movie ever)
Animated:
Love the music from Tarzan and the Jungle Book
Snow White will really always have a special place in my heart - and such a good mix w/ some of the darkness of the real fairy tales in it instead of everything being happy/warm/fuzzy
I think I agree w/ Mike! Different Day, Different Favorite.
Ohhh I love Toy Story it's awesome! I need to invest in a copy
I just saw an ad that they came out w/ a new 2 disc set of Toy Story 1 and 2 as a pre-cursor to 3 coming out in the theatre soon.
I recently joined the Disney movie club. Just last evening my daughter (early twenties) and I were discussing which ones we should get.
I love Enchanted. (My ex-husband gave it to me for Christmas last year.) I have to say Cinderella is the best, though. I don't know... It's just a classic (and yet modern enough to be "better" than Snow White or others made before Cinderella. I like the "old" Cinderella, though. I don't like the new "Bimbo-looking" one, who isn't as pretty.
How often does Disney open the Vault and release movies on DVD?
i love all of disney's movies but my favorite is The Aristocats. i'm a big fan of cats, dogs, geese, mice and horses. this movie had them all and in a most comical way.
