I'm a big Neil Young fan.  There are so many great songs.  When I was much younger, I really liked "Heart of Gold".  Now, I really can't say which one is my favorite.  There are so many great songs.

Harvest Moon! I love everything he's done though really. Obviously, the album, Harvest..All of that is just brilliant. I'm also partial to the song he contributed to the Philidelphia soundtrack..I think the song was actually called Philidelphia too..Beautiful piano lead tune..It plats at the end of the film..So fitting and moving.

I'm going to have to go with you, anothermathgeek. I am totally in love with "Heart of Gold." It is the perfect song for a lot of my moods. Hope that doesn't say too much about me! Lol.

Great topic and really tough to pick.
I tend to like the long guitar solo songs, so
Down by the River and Cinnamon Girl rank right up there for me!

My Heart - but that's not a piano playing the accompaniment. That's really a dulcimer. A beautiful instrument!

Good question, there is so many to choose from, obviously "Heart of Gold" and "Old Man" are up there but my alternative favourites would be "Cripple Creek Ferry" and "Albequeque"

I would go for something off 'on the beach' lp, like 'see the sky about to rain' but also got a soft spot for 'ready for the country' and 'out on the weekend'.

I was going to go with something a little less obvious..

but I just CAN'T go past Keep on Rockin in the Free World

Yes, the way free world starts out at full tilt and right in your face!
Or Cortez the Killer, seems to take all day to get there but when it does. . .
How about Four Strong Winds a total contrast and perhaps one of the greatest love songs.
Ach, it would probably be easier to list the Neil Young stuff I don't like.

Campaigner, for sure. A close second would be the live version of Crime In The City from a live albumn called Weld that he did with CH.
