I love this Benno's Cajun Seafood Restaurant. The pictures are fabulous including the seafood menus. Since it is in TX, it gives me another reason to visit this place. I especially find the friendship between Benno and Charles and their happy deal very interesting. Thank you, Peggy, for marvelous share.

Thank you so much for sharing this article, Pamela. It is fun driving down to Galveston on occasion and taking in the beach scenery as well as some good fresh seafood.

Peggy, I enjoyed learning about Benno's Cajun Seafood Restaurant. I also enjoyed the photos you shared. I loved the picture of the Seafood platter. It looks so delicious. In Barcelona, there are numerous restaurants near the beach that serve fresh seafood. My mother enjoys everything related to seafood, whereas I only eat cod fish, prawns, and selmon fish.
Thanks for sharing.
Blessings and Love to both of you!!
This looks like a great place if you're ever in Galveston. Loved the dog photo too and the art. The fried catfish makes my mouth water!
The food looks very appetizing, and the location of the restaurant looks attractive. I think I would enjoy exploring the area and tasting the food very much!
Benno's looks like a wonderful restaurant. I am impressed by the appearance of the seafood basket. Nice photos as always, Peggy.
Thank you for sharing, Pamela.
Hi Rosina,
I am pleased that you liked learning about this seafood restaurant in Galveston. Being so close to the beach makes it even more fun. Yes, Benno and Charles made a deal that was favorable to both of them!
Hi Vidya,
I agree that it was serendipitous for those two men to meet. Charles loves fishing as you can tell from his art hanging in Benno's restaurant. Thanks for your comment.
Peggy...
It's a shame it's acrossed the street from the ocean, but it still looks like a great view.
How exciting to dine somewhere where your friends artwork is displayed.
Knowing a bit of the history & that the 2 were friends makes it seem more like home...an enjoyable place to be.
Great write.
Hi Chitrangada, Thanks for letting me know that you enjoyed learning about Benno's Cajun Seafood Restaurant in Galveston. In addition to the good food, the beach scenery is so much fun. Enjoy your weekend!
Hi Misbah,
I remember eating some fabulous freshly prepared seafood in Barcelona when we were there many years ago. Your mother and I are more alike in our tastes regarding liking all types of seafood. But what you like eating is certainly good, even if more limited in choices. Being so near the Gulf of Mexico, getting access to fresh seafood is easy here in Houston. Thanks for your virtual visit to Benno's.
Hi FlourishAnyway,
Yes, we both appreciated seeing that beautiful golden retriever in the car with the window rolled down. He or she looked happy. The fried catfish and other things on that seafood platter are delicious! Thanks for appreciating the art of Charles Criner. It certainly fits that restaurant!
Hi Linda,
Watching the Gulf of Mexico waves roll in while seagulls and other birds dance in the air makes for a fun backdrop to this seafood restaurant in Galveston. I am glad you enjoyed looking at it via this article.
Hi John,
Yes, that seafood combo plate is delicious! Glad you liked the photos of Benno's, the food pictures, and photos of the beach scenery across the street.
Hi Brenda,
Yes, it seems to have worked well for both Benno and for Charles to share the art and food between them. Benno is now gone, but Charle's art remains in his restaurant, probably for all time.

Check out Peggy's article about the 1939 Wisconsin cookbook. There are several delicious recipes included in this article. I enjoyed reading this article as I remember the cookies my mother made that are similar to these.https://hubpages.com/food/1939-Christma … c-Power-Co
