All forms... but most of all the Black Truffle.  smile

When I was a child.. we had a strain field mushrooms that were as large as dinner plates in our paddocks.  So we got up early to pick, cook and enjoy our breakfast. smile

I think it is interesting. When I moved to Canada I found that field mushrooms here and in my country are so different that you better NOT EVEN TRY TO PICK THEM UP!  So disappointing!

why so? Is it poisonous? or some other reasons?

If you don't know what you are eating you can get lethal poisoning especially with mushrooms. It's not a joke.

    Morels.
Some people used to call 'em dry land fish.

Love to go hunting for them!
Coat 'em with flour and/or egg and fry them; yum!
Well...after they're soaked in salt water for a looooong time to get all those itty bitty bugs outta them....

        I know.
        But they're very expensive.

Besides, buying them from a store takes all the fun and adventure outta it,  along with the bugs!  haha

how to prepare? can you share the recipe?

      1. profile image0
Audreveaposted 13 years agoin reply to this

        Umm ..

        1. Chop onions and slice mushroom (or halve if preferred)
        2. Put on pan (low-ish heat) and throw in either a dab of butter or some oilve oil. Heat up t(but don't let it get too hot)
        2.  Put onions in pan and sir gently
        3. Put mushrooms in with onions

Eat when cooked. I also add pepper and salt, but that's just me.

Spinach is something else you can throw in.

Mushrooms should be juicy and onions just translucent (not burned or fried looking).

Thank u Audrevea for the recipe. So far, I was taking mushroom at hotel only. Now I can try to make this at home itself. What if , I had some red chilli powder instead pepper?

          1. profile image0
Audreveaposted 13 years agoin reply to this

I gues you could - might be better if you just chop a fresh red chili reaally fine - tastier than powdered form.

They also sell chili in a jar - but I think fresh would be best. garlic works well with fresh chili too.

Now you went and rubbed it in my nose. My favorite is fresh found Yellow Morels, I have some in my fridge ready to fry in Panko and butter, but alas I am not allowed to eat them anymore, so my wife will get to feast on them. I am pissed! Love those things.
